    I liked Jesse before, but the episode with the little kid made me love him. The line "You have a good rest of your life" gave him a level of humanity most shows couldn't give a character over an entire season.

    34:52 if you drive an automatic car with both feet you’ll tend to rest your left foot on the brake pedal which will wear out your brake pads very fast (known as “riding your brakes”). It’s also dangerous because your brake lights will constantly be on making it difficult for someone behind you to tell when you’re actually slowing down, and the constant pressure generates heat making them less effective.

    • @Polyphemus89

      Also in an emergency your instinct is going to be to slam on brakes, but they don’t work so well when you also slam on the gas.

      The break and accelerator should never be pressed at the same time. Using one foot ensure a pedal can only be pressed when the other is completely released.
      That wasn't Simone's questions, though. She was under the impression the car was manual and Walter was saying only one foot* should be used to operate the three pedals. She was right in thinking two feet should be used in that case: one for the clutch, one for the break and accelerator.

    You don't use both feet for braking and acceleration for 2 reasons... 1) bad practice. You should only be stopping or accelerating. 2) if you suddenly stop your body weight pushes down... that means you push both in a attempt of stabilising your body, break AND accelerator... of which you don't ever want to push in a emergency stop. Your spare foot should be hovering over the clutch or foot well.

    About the medical discussion 40:26, medical debt (like all debt) doesn't carry over to descendants, however it does carry over to spouses (in the US). Spouses are treated as one entity, like any business, therefore your partner's debt is also your debt. the only solution would be to declare bankruptcy, however there could be an exception for medical bills, I am not entirely sure. Not all debt is equal in bankruptcy, for example student loans are not forgiven by bankruptcy, otherwise pretty much everybody would just declare bankruptcy after finishing studies and start from square one.

    • @JanGenie
      @JanGenie 8 месяцев назад

      If the debt is in your spouse's name you just have to state for the record that it is not yours, there is no will and you are NOT the executor of your spouse's estate.

    • @catrachohn90
      @catrachohn90 8 месяцев назад

      @@JanGenieI have read a little more about it, and it can get quite complicated. Its not as simple as just declaring that the debt is not yours. Depending on the state that you live in, whether the debt was conceived before or during the marriage seems to be really important. In the shows case, the debt was incurred during the marriage which will make it far more difficult to convinced a judge that the debt is not yours. I know that there a loans that can be taken where one of the spouses can sign off ownership, for example, when you buy a car or house, a spouse can sign off responsibility but you also give away ownership, meaning if there is a divorce you don't get to claim half.
      It's quite complicated so I'll leave it at that.

    Using only 1 foot to do both gas and brake prevents you from pushing on both at the same time. It's a safety thing. It also allows you to correctly drive a stickshift if you ever want/need to learn, since that left foot needs to operate the clutch.

    • @Violetsareblue092
      @Violetsareblue092 8 месяцев назад +14

      Yeah they foreshadow this when they show the stack shift a little after he hides the body, plus he says something like “we can’t just leave him here, that’s not very Christian” before quickly realizing it probably wasn’t the best time to try and argue with Tuco. Definitely implies he went back on his own without telling Tuco to move him only to get stuck and bleed out himself, basically what Hank theorized.

    While the acting in the show is so great, writing is king. And more specifically the writers room. “Breaking the episode” is talked about in interviews with the writers of the show. They debated every detail in the show and best idea always won.

    Despite the entire series seeming to be meticulously planned out, S2 is the only part of it that was. They went into S2 with the entire season plotted out ahead of time and ended up hating producing it on that kind of schedule. Later seasons were done on the fly with only a general idea of where the story was going. There is a certain item shown in a car trunk at the beginning of the final season that they had no idea how it was going to come into play and the constant worry of how it was going to fit in caused no small amount of stress for Vince Gilligan.

      I don't remember if the full episode mentions it directly, but one possible reason "Flynn" is using both feet is that it's easier for him due to his Cerebral Palsy. Peakaboo is one of the greatest episodes of the series. I love the intro with Jesse playing and being kind with the bug while he's waiting for Skinny Pete and the right after Skinny Pete shows up he just step over the bug. It was said a lot about Jesse with no dialogue. Jesse it's a good person, with no evil in his heart and he's not just fitting with the crime world but because of the tough relationship with his family he decided that this is where he belongs, for the sake of being rich and important. And we could see it more in the rest of the episode with that kid. Otherwise Walt is a criminal mind and really capable of doing awful things to succeed even though doesn't look like a criminal at all.

And at the end of the series, that's what I enjoy the most - that after it all I can't make a final judgement call on anyone: no one was all good or all bad. Some of them reminded me of Job's trial: good people when life was good, but their good morals, behaviour and personality dissolved like paper in water when life was hard and bad. Some were asswipes when life was easy and good: Hank and Marie, but came into their own when shit got real.

    Any debt would be claimable to Walt's estate. So his retirement savings and the house, anything OWNED JOINTLY with Skylar could be claimed. Though with bankruptcy protection, they can't really take your primary residence, so the house is safe, but possible a lien could be placed on it. Hospitals often DO forgive debt when the person clearly can't pay, it's not profitable to pursue action against people with no assets. Broke people show up to emergency rooms all the time with no intention of paying because hospitals aren't allowed to turn people away for "emergencies", even though it's often not a true emergency...one reason why it costs more for the people who CAN pay, they are covering the costs of those who don't.

Also, you will waste the breaks, but if you just use one foot, you cannot press at the same time without real effort. It's a basic rule for the masses because most people are really stupid.

    Tuco's actor Raymond Cruz is sort of type-cast as the villain in a lot, he plays a stressed guy really well. He had a speaking role an episode of Star-Trek Deep-Space 9 that focused on a group on a planet that were waiting to be relieved but had to stay for a final battle.. he played the character at the breaking point really well

    Raymond Cruz (Tuco) is part of the main cast of The Closer and it's spin-off series Major Crimes. In both he portrays Detective Julio Sanchez, and he's very different from Tuco hahaha I love him in those series (he portrayed Julio for 13 years)

    Raymond Cruz is awesome. I first remember him from Clear & Present Danger, which is the 3rd film (released) in thr Jack Ryan movie series. He was also in The Rock, Training Day, Under Siege, and many others. Really good actor, he can play a VERY scary, psychotic, evil person or a very likable character too.

    40:04 In community property states like Arizona and California, when two people marry they become a single financial unit, so when one dies everything goes to the spouse unless otherwise disposed. So yes, Skylar would be on the hook for his debt. Even in other states, Walt's estate would be forced to pay the debt, which naturally includes half the house, his car, etc.

  • @jhilal2385
    @jhilal2385 8 месяцев назад +1

    Debt carries over to your spouse. Otherwise to your estate, but not to heirs other than your spouse. So if your entire estate is liquidated and debt remains, but you have no spouse, the debt does NOT fall to your children, etc.

    35:00 the reason for this is because taking your foot off the accelerator means you're already slowing down and can't accidently hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

  • @winterthemuteson
    @winterthemuteson 8 месяцев назад +1

    Debt doesn't carry to your descendants (in most states) but in Walt's case his spouse would be still living, so she would be responsible for the medical bills. The two share joint property and accounts, so his bills are also hers. Should she also die, Walt Jr wouldn't inherit the debt per se, but the bills would have to be paid out of the estate before he could get it as inheritance.

    The song at the beginning of episode 7 is a type of song called, in Spanish, Narco-corridos. They originated in Mexico, and they were songs telling of the exploits and tales of the cartels and the bosses. These are controversial because sometimes the narco corridos are enjoyed and appreciated by the cartels because it portrays them as heroic figures, while other times they are very disliked because the cartels don't want their business put out there for so many people to hear. This latter option often ends with the brutal torture and slaying of the singer or performer of the song, which is why it's incredibly dangerous business being a performer of these types of songs. Remember folks: *NEVER GET INVOLVED WITH A CARTEL, AND DON'T FUCK WITH THEM EVER* or it could be the last thing you ever do on this planet

    To answer your question, regarding debt carry over. You're correct in that not all debt carries over. If the debt is joint with Skylar, ie mortgage debt then it would be reassigned to her.
    That being said debtholders have the first kick at the can for all assets they have assignment over. In addition a debt holder can try to sue the estate for the assets held of the person who passes. So in this scenario, they can't go after Walt Jr, but they can pick clean Walter Sr's estate on his passing including joint assets with Skylar such as the house.
