Yes, i have been killed af few times by gankers. But by and large most cmdr's i encountered were nice. I remember one of the first times i was interdicted, my actions "screamed" that i didn't know what i was doing. I started shooting at the other player with my un-engineered an unarmoured ship. The other cmdr shot my hull down to 10% and explained how i should limp back to a station and repair my ship, and what i should do next time i was interdicted. It made the hole encounter (including being shot to an inch of my death) a pleasant encounter. I now play almost always in open. It makes the experience more exciting. Only time is switch to solo is if i spend numerous hours filling my cargo hold with stuff and i don't want to lose al that time just as i fly into a station
What they fail to consider is that newcomers lose interest because a group solely focuses on bullying them. Places like Shinrarta at least require players to have some knowledge to reach the Elite rank and gain access, so these gankers should focus their activities there. But going to Deciat, which is an engineer base, or HIP 97950 to kill Sidewinders is really low, very low. Surely, some will cry and call me names for saying this, but it's the truth even if it hurts them. I've been a ganker, but my fun was never about blowing up ships that can't even fight back; that's just foolish and senseless.
Personally I played solo for a few hundreds of hours with my first squadron, doing wing missions, mining and stuff. I only came to open after I made myself a combat cutter and one of first few things I did was I watched I think it was Exigeus' gank evasion vid and went practice to Deciat, which was intense at first but also easier than I thought so I mostly played in Open since then :D
Ofc will never be so stupid as to go to sag. A in open before handing my explo data in solo at Explorers anchorage first so ofc there are still absolutely places for Solo but yea
00:25 that's OK, all you need is to pull crazy Ivan. And have Wash in pilot seat 😉 When I started, I got ganked so often that I went solo and never returned. If they pirated me: fine, I wouldn't say a thing. But why destroy a noob in Sidewinder? Where is the fun in that? Is that some kind of mental disorder being reflected in a game?
I play mostly on solo, not just because of gankers, but also because open is really laggy in my computer. I joined a few pvp groups and I'm not scared of being blown up, but I just got used to playing on solo. When I upgrade my pc, then I'll probably start playing on open. I have never been ganked.
Solo if you’re starting out and don’t want to be reset to the start of the game because some douche in an FDL is bored and now gets his kicks from making the game less fun for others. Open if you’re ready to deal with humans being humans.
Seal clubbing isn't my thing but going to the starter systems to provoke a response from the bounty hunters is a great time. As for the equivocation of gankers with the reavers from Firefly, that's harsh and unjustified, considering that most are more than happy to share tips, tricks and ideas if you speak to them like human beings.....
These type of comments have always struck me as the emotionally-challenged bully-kid's advice to the person they just suddenly punched in the face. "Now that I have your attention while I have you here recovering from your wound, let me tell you how to iNTerAcT WiTh ME so we can be the bestest of friends!!!" I feel like the only way you'd not be annoyed by these things is if you also have this mindset so I guess in a way it is a selection protocol for gankers to find other gankers to make friends with.
@@mitakondria6691 lmao it's really simple. If I destroy your pixel ship and you respond like you're a molten salt geyser, spewing obscenity and making egregious comparisons to the worst human beings who commit ACTUAL crimes, you're going to be treated like the sore loser that you are.
Most of career gankers are just looking for salt tho and arent even hiding it, tbh I dont see any reason for other interactions with that than to shoot or ignore it :D
@@myaantares4036 Yep, you're right, he doesn't, but that's not what I meant. Not gonna lie, Andy has a few funny videos, but that's rare, 95% of his videos are self-excuses for what he did or didn't do. For example, he makes a lot of hypocritical videos with walls of text explaining how he doesn't do chat pvp, but literally doing the same thing(chat pvping) through his vids, I didnt want to read so many whiny essays, so I unsubscribed like two years ago, but I'm pretty sure not much has changed. And my appeal to Webgear was not to make self-apologetic videos like Andy does, thats it.
@@matrixhasyou404 I dunno. I don't make videos, just guest star appearances 😂 but it sounds like you've got an axe to grind and a point to prove. If you were over it two years ago, you wouldn't be here commenting on it today.

I started there at Chamberlains Rest in Open in April 2022 and now I'm an Arxx Cmdr.
ARXX, eh? Never heard of them. New squadron?

Thanks! I just might!
I think I've been pulled by both those guys in the starter system before. They seem rather preoccupied with you.
Everybody likes to shoot at Webgear because he's several years behind in child support payments for his 5 kids.

Stop right there cmdr, dont be like andy polaris making vids of all _____ I hope as fdevs told us about new feature, it will be open only.
Open only is pretty OK. Just let the new players get their ships somewhat survivable first though.
@@Webgear my words!
Andy doesn't have any interest in shooting down Cmdrs who are just learning the keybinds and basic game mechanics. At least, not anymore 😂
