You might've never heard of this railroad, but Vancouver's West Coast Express has just ordered an ex-Go F59PH. Their fleet primarily consisted of five F59PHIs and one MP36PH.
Edit: this unit was formerly Metrolink 18533 (which of coarse was Go 533) before being upgraded by progress rail and getting renumbered to WCE 907.
its pretty much just getting a GO Transit F59PH To Vancouver but its owned by WCE Now.
@@TheSouthernOntarioRailfannner I mean I am from Vancouver and I find it pretty unique because its boxy cab stands out from all the other streamlined locomotives. We have never had any boxy-looking loco running on the WCE. (Except via F40PHs running once an F59PHI has broke down...)
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm IN BOYS! I am pleased to say I rode the RDC's that were shown in a "this month on the railroad" a few months back. the service that was opened by Mainedot! It was amazing and the RDC's are very comfortable and a testament to Budd!
I'm glad you make these videos. Congratulations on starting your university studies and best of luck in that endeavor! The first year and especially the second year can be an unprecedented challenge, so I can say for sure that you've set your priorities the right way. Have fun, too!
Great Video! Cando Rail is actually not a locomotive manufacturer, but a short line railway with the largest locomotive fleet of any short line in North America, with over 100 locomotives. They do however do some locomotive repairs and upgrades but this battery locomotive will be there largest project yet. Cando owns a few subsidiary short lines including the Central Manitoba Railway, the largest of them. They are actually quite a large company and they are based out of Manitoba, but most people have never heard of them!
That oddball Indianapolis to Oklahoma City straightaway on the FRA Amtrak Connects Us map is very intriguing
Great episode for this eventful month! I regret not going more in depth about the Amtrak LD map, since that has a lot of potential with new and previous routes alike. Thank you for your service with TMOTR, as your monthly efforts are greatly appreciated.
you'll be able to provide us with monthly recaps, luckily
I WAS FIRST ON THE FIRST REM TRAIN OUTTA GARE CENTRALE ON THE 29TH. I kid you not it was BEST DAY EVER!
3:34 UP 8388 "Employee Assistance Program unit" was on the Heritage Units roster and it's still active on the rails today.
I've been watching these videos for a while, and I found it informative! I didn't know of the CSX Conrail heritage unit, nor of many of the other stories, like the ST70AHs going to Mexico, or the ALP-44 going to a museum. In fact, I, like you, have never heard of "Cando Rail" at all until you mentioned it in this video! Perhaps they can make plenty of money from turning gensets into a different kind of green locomotive.
Also, that map at the end (5:28) looks interesting! In fact, I notice that if many of those green lines are made a reality, then many former Amtrak routes could be revived, including lines to Duluth, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Laredo, and Nashville, as well as between New Orleans and Jacksonville and between Vermont and Montreal. I even see some trips that, to my knowledge, Amtrak never made before: Milwaukee to Green Bay, Bakersfield to Barstow, Billings to Cheyenne (neither of which are currently served by Amtrak), and so forth. I hope most of those become a reality!
Also, it was fun to watch these. However, I understand why you chose to reduce the number of videos you will make. After all, I'll be going to college soon, too. Good luck!
Thanks for making this video!
Cando isn't a locomotive manufacturer. They're a rail service contractor who does 3rd party switching and short haul moves over existing class 1 lines.
4:10 - The main reason railroads are rebuilding older units instead of buying new units off the shelf is because Tier 4 locomotives are more expensive, have higher maintenance costs and burn more fuel than non-Tier 4 locomotives. At the moment they're just not worth the investment, especially when you've got large numbers of locomotives that were purchased for coal service sitting in storage that can be given a new lease on life.
Man I wish that UP owned the rights to The Rock Island. I think a heritage unit for that would be better than those they currently have in their fleet
Apparently at some point amtrak is converting 20 p42s to cab cars also 406 got renumbered 90406 last un renumbered f40
I hope they go full cabbage for them
Where did you find that information?
I started college last year too bud, and also had to do to RUclips what you’re about to do. Good luck bud!
Just so u know for august this month on the Railroad Long Island rail, Road train derailed in Queens specific locations in Jamaica and CSX freight train derailed in Montgomery county Amsterdam today LIRR derailment on the 3rd CSX today before 8:00
I just saw the CSX conrail unit today
Other news in rail preservation:
-Restoration progresses on Southern Pacific 4-6-2 2479 at the Niles Canyon Railway in California
-The Horseshoe Curve Chapter of NRHS organized a fundraiser tour featuring Amtrak train ride, Strasburg Railroad, and visit to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania to benefit the PRR K4s 1361 restoration
-Nickel Plate Road SD9 358 completed its restoration thanks to the assistance of Progress Rail
-Restoration also progresses on UP Challenger 3985, UP 2-10-2 5511, and UP DDA40X diesel locomotive no. 6936
I’ve heard news of restoring steam in Tulsa OK as well! Which would be great because Tulsa is extremely train deprived at least where I live. Dierks Lumber 207 is the engine most likely to be restored though.
MY BOY GOING TO COLLEGE 🔥🔥🔥 DOGEMCSWAGGERTON WAS JUST YESTERDAY
One day they might bring back the Floridian and the National limited. They might or not but still I just wanna see the good ol’days of this two services from New York to Kansas and Chicago to Tampa & Miami. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s next for Amtrak’s ambitious project
Dont worry man....educational comes first. Gambette as Honoka says (you get the jizz 😉😉).
Good luck on college. Stay safe man
Wow this video is right on track! 😂
It's nice to see all these lesser class 1s representing Conrail
There is an alc 42 and 6-7 Aveila liberty sets at 30th street yard
Attention in the worldwide railfan CSX ES44AC 1869 has been repainted into a Chesapeake and Ohio paint scheme
very good 😶👍 & thank you for doing these
I just want to say - Sending you positive vibes as you embark on your college journey later this month
i moan about the change but your well-being [and studies] comes first - I look forward to not just the new era for the show but updates from you in general on how you are doing
cheers to you & good luck in college later this month
🖤
Only the first phase of the REM opened. Most of it should open in 2024. And the airport branch is scheduled for 2027.
And REM de l'est will open once the NIMBYs die off
Great video really enjoyed sorry to hear CSX returned the engines I really liked them
Very cool video! Just subscribed
You forgot to mention after the free ride weekend on the REM, on train got stuck on the Champlain bridge a few days after
Soooo CPKC paint looks like the Unstoppable AWVR livery on 767. If you ask me they need to just make it like the AWVR livery
3:28 you can see the L & N in the background
C&O*
You missed a news of Governor Holchol announced that the MTA will reserve phase 2 of the Second avenue subway for Construction begins by the end of the year and will be completed and opened by the Early 2030s
As a certified Conrail fanboy, I do approve!😂😅
5:41 I’m suprised there’s not a route to St. Louis via the Ex-Big4
Sucks how 2816 will not even do the original cp trackage from Vancouver to montreal
How much of the Hudson tunnel has FG funded.
I heard that Metro North Railroad has a conrail heritage unit 40th anniversary
Yes he said that in June’s episode
@@amzymartinez9596thanks for reminding!
Metro north has a Heritage unit now (its a wrap)
Nice
Yeah, in the foreseeable future when it comes out soon after it is done. Loco no 201
5:54 I don’t see Winston Salem! Grumble,Grumble…😣
any news on septa’s double decker sets?
NS TRAIN HITS TRUCK IN CROLL. Georgia today
Do you know what the green line is I can’t really tell cause it’s bleary on the bottom of not all good
Northfork southern Virginian heritage unit has been repainted
Good luck in College
REM is light metro, not light rail.
Same thing
@@threepea1151LRT is what ever rail transit most US cities have that doesn’t have subways that are not commuter trains like Seattle and Minneapolis-St. Paul. Light Metro is practically a shorter train doing metro style service like the new Honolulu Skyline/HART and the Vancouver Skytrain
good luck in collage what are you gonna study?
