Very nice overview of this device. I for one am shocked that we are nearing 2022 end heading in 2023 and we still have tablet competitors to the Surface being released without two things that EVERY device in this category needs. 1) A built in stand direclty deployable from the tablet itself 2) The pop up functionality on the keyboard folio. If you want a true laptop experience the flattened keyboard on the desk is never comfortable for any extened use. I don't understand why we get these gorgeous machines coming out from Dell (etc) without these two additions. You can keep the folio keyboard thing you want, but at least include a built in stand within the tablet body. Even if you pull the tablet off occasionally and carry it with you in the kitchen or wherever - you now have no way to stand it up in any useable way without lugging the keyboard folio with you. I personally detcach my Surface Pro often and just use it as a media device with the built in stand. Just my $.02 here! Cheers

Too expensive for the weak performance that's throttled. But I finally figured out the target audience: my partner. She likes to do RUclips viewing, some emails, a bit of word processing, some viewing of photos, a video conference once in a while, and she likes to look good with something sleek and modern. So every few years she changes her notebook for something more new (and her smartphone too). That's the target audience.

Yeah there is no way i would swap my sp8 for this one and I am also disappointed in the 1230u so far, only 2 p cores and worse gfx than surface pro 7, 7+ and 8 😢 not sure how dell can copy the surface but make it worse 🤣
If that’s not the nail…The surface 8 has the two thunderbolt ports, headphone jack and proprietary charging port that can deliver usb c speeds. Granted you got to use the surface dock but it frees up the other 2 thunderbolt ports for more versatility.
I like the brick style design more compare with surface, though did hope they can add kickstand. Considering upgrading old pro x to this or maybe pro 9 Intel version.
What was Dell thinking with the standing out camera on the back? Am I right that you can't lay it flat on a table for drawing? If the folio would be a back and a keyboard part and so backcover would flatten that out ok but you can't seperate the folio right? Come on Dell. That's a great device but the folio is garbage. I have a Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1 and this three year old device has a kickstand and a good folio. Just give me the Latitude-line fanless with 12th Gen CPU (and maybe for the XPS pricepoint. The actual latitude is nearly double as pricy as the XPS).
Yeaaaaaaaa, looks like a nice premium device, but honestly the surface pro is just so much more polished with it's quality of life features like the kickstand, the tilted keyboard, the hideaway stylus, and the rounds bits
Would love to know why EVERY OEM that copies the Surface Pro goes for a folio design instead of a kickstand. It's inheritantly worse. Suspect it comes down to cost. That crappy case will cost a lot less than engineering a hinge.
I bought the I7 version only because I had dell rewards money to spend. Luckily, I only payed 800 bucks out of pocket. I wouldn't have payed full price for it. At the end of the day, it's actually a slightly above average laptop, but if I had a choice, I probably would have waited for the SP9. Unfortunately, it's been a while since Dell has made a good laptop that would wow me.
Nicely done. Ok so I'm here trying to understand why it is that expensive....it's not the most aestetically pleasing tab, it's not the best performing, it's not the most SPECed, it's not the brightest, it's not the most versatile, it's not the longest lasting, it's most definitely not the most futuristic....help me here, why would I buy this over like say the Samsung tab S8 ultra for instance which is basically at the same price point and apparently better in virtually everything?
Check out my review I just released! This is exactly my thoughts! My surface pro 8 which is 1 year older performs better, has more features and is much cheaper! I am not sure what dell was trying to achieve here
Hmm. . .Yeah a passively cooled device is nice for being quiet, but that performance is an absolute deal breaker considering the Surface Pro 9 is right around the corner. Plus for a little bit more you could get and Asus Z13 with a much more powerful cpu and an Nvidia 3050/3050ti. And that keyboard is all kinds of wrong. I had the first gen surface pro and I got a case for it that covered the kickstand and tried using the same folding back idea as a kick stand. It was incredibly wobbly and no where near as versatile as the kickstand. A little disappointing in my eyes, but I'm glad there are alternatives.
yep, I had the pro 1 too and had that original flat keyboard with the worst keyboard typing experience known to man 🤣 I certainly won't be swapping my pro 8 for this and I am looking forward to see what M$ can do with the pro 9
IMO, I think Dell should have kept the XPS 13 a thin clamshell ultrabook. From what I see here, it's basically a disappointing Surface Pro knock off with far too many compromises to be able to compete with Microsoft's original. In this arena, the Microsoft Surface Pro is still the king. Nothing else comes close. Where the clamshell ultrabook design was the standard by which all others were compared, this version is just an also-ran to Microsoft's. Surface Pro line.
The only point of the Surface or any other tablet-laptops is the pen. If the pen is trash the whole device is pointless. At that point a regular laptop + an iPad/Tab S is cheaper and more value. SP8 just barely became viable for art projects.
It's kinda sad there is no flip-around keyboard like it used to. This stand feels like a half-ass solution that would annoy the fuck out of me, if I was using it on a daily basis. On the other hand, I will never understand why the old 2-in-1 used to have a different keyboard layout from the regular XPS 13 (Page up, page down right above left and right arrow keys). If it wasn't for this stupid layout, I would've probably gotten it over the regular XPS, so I would be able to flip it around and use my custom keyboard. Other than that, it looks pretty nice. Would be nice for coding, if I wasn't so lazy. HAHA
When are these greedy manufactures going to move away from 8 GB RAM as the base configuration? Come on, it's not 2010 anymore! It makes it e-waste right out of the box really. Especially with Windows. LOL
Don't buy a device with a kickstand and one of these detachable floppy keyboards. I have an acer switch alpha 12. i bought a couple of years ago and it's a nuisance messing with the kickstand and keyboard. Better to buy a 2-in-1 with a stiff hinge. so much more flexible and usable. E.g. if you need to try type with it sitting on your knee, the kickstand can't go back further than your knee...meaning the keyboard if right up close to your stomach...a real nuisance. With a rigid hinge 2-in-1 you can move the keyboard away from you a bit more and type more comfortably. Just my two cents.
Not a real 2-in-1 if one needs the cover to use it. As a tablet it seems quite terrible, for the size, weight, and sharp lines. Not versatility as a rotatable 2-in-1 of olds.
Why not buy Lenovo duet 5i in less money 512 16 and better 12th gen processor ......if Dell thinks that people would buy this thing for this much money then they absolutely crazy .......way expensive......

If that’s not the nail…The surface 8 has the two thunderbolt ports, headphone jack and proprietary charging port that can deliver usb c speeds. Granted you got to use the surface dock but it frees up the other 2 thunderbolt ports for more versatility.
Looks good, however I have heard a lot people having issues with this gen Dell computers as far as QA.
I like the brick style design more compare with surface, though did hope they can add kickstand. Considering upgrading old pro x to this or maybe pro 9 Intel version.
My previous xps has massive throttling and heating issues.. 13 inch
Yeah Dell really need to work on their cooling solutions
You write all your scripts on the Surface? the X17 typing experience has to be superior
both are great keyboards but I love the mobility of the surface pro
Would love to know why EVERY OEM that copies the Surface Pro goes for a folio design instead of a kickstand. It's inheritantly worse. Suspect it comes down to cost. That crappy case will cost a lot less than engineering a hinge.
Agreed, it has to be R&D cost. Get it wrong and you end up paying a fortune in warranty repairs etc
Unfortunately, it's been a while since Dell has made a good laptop that would wow me.
so nothing about the pen? 🤔 Havent you miss the point of what is a 2-1 made for?
The pen wasn’t available when I ordered so I couldn’t test it!
unbox legion 7 amd 2022 3060 model
I sure want to, just trying to get through the countless laptops I have in my office first 😂
Nicely done.
I am not sure what dell was trying to achieve here
7:49 aaaaaaannd the crappy one-liner-arrow-keys ...
NEXT.
Haha I will have to shout you if I ever get a suitable keyboard for you 😂
This is indeed poor from dell 😌
Let's just stick to 13plus I love it that way
With that kind of price and with that measly storage and no expendable SSD slot. I think I will go for Surface Pro then.
I certainly won’t be swapping my surface pro 8 for one! Though you might want to wait until October as surface pro 9 is rumoured to be launching
Hmm. . .Yeah a passively cooled device is nice for being quiet, but that performance is an absolute deal breaker considering the Surface Pro 9 is right around the corner.
Looks good actually. It should have had AMD 5900u/ 6900u
Agreed! we need more premium Ryzen laptops! I just ordered the new T14 with Ryzen 6850u so looking forward to that one arriving
LOL
So so true! Just heard the surface pro 9 is also going to start with 8gb! Do you think in 2030 the base model will finally be 16gb 😂
@@MashITTech Maybe they will cut a bit of their pie and make it 12 GB. But I hope they won't go bankrupt because of that. HAHA
hahahah
Shame they can't have a headphone jack on this.
for that price, it should be Windows Professional
yeah and also the pen, a case, desk and coffee maker :)
Its what the galaxy tab s8 ultra should have been
I've used all kinds of portable computers and still prefer clamshell the best.
Not a real 2-in-1 if one needs the cover to use it. As a tablet it seems quite terrible, for the size, weight, and sharp lines. Not versatility as a rotatable 2-in-1 of olds.
Why not buy Lenovo duet 5i in less money 512 16 and better 12th gen processor ......if Dell thinks that people would buy this thing for this much money then they absolutely crazy .......way expensive......
yep, they have completely missed the mark with the pricing! this should start at about 899 IMHO then it may make sense
@@MashITTech you are right....
Surface is Surface, this one cant even get close to it....
NO HEADPHONE JACK?!! Ugh!!!
totally shit. laptop with 360 degree hinge was far more better. its nothing compared to surface pro 8.
No 3:2, no sale.
It is 3:2. It’s the same resolution as the surface pro
Sounds like bad performance, in comparison to the surface
Why do all the British guys on youtube sound the same? So odd.👍
Haha there are plenty of accents over here. maybe all U.K. RUclipsrs are from the south 😀
£1200 is way too much (even when you're paying in installments). I'll pass.
