there was a simplicity and an innocence to it all ... that day everybody was like a little Kid who had just come downstairs on christmas morning ... life was just different then .. no social media or internet ...these days everybody would be texting each other .. taking videos on smartphones and uploading it on Tik Tok .. we might not qualify again for another 50 years ...These are very special collective memories .. It felt that many years of bleak times were over and Ireland was emerging as a nation onto the world stage
We'll never see Ireland reach those heights again in football. Both Dublin and Cork were much nicer back then as well. Now our cities streets are full of scum with no guards on the beat. I'd love to relive the 90's all over again.
What a wonderful time to be alive. Irelands best ever performance in an international tournament, and Cork doing the double in the GAA! This video brings back some great memories. If only i could get into a DeLorean and go back to 1990. Life and sport was so much better back then.
@@kennethkilleen8758 its more they’re simply a shite team managed by someone whose only experience is one league of Ireland match...imagine going from Jackie to that?
Nobody can tell me our country is better now than it was that day. We had nothing except our love for our country, now look at us. You could be in downtown Lagos, Bangladesh or Kandahar on O'Connell street now.
I was only 5 when this happened, can barely remember it,very unlikely we'll see anything close to that type of unity among people in this country again in my lifetime.
I am so glad I got to experience this, 1990 was the single best year this country has ever had, everyone was happy even if you were poor, thesedays it's full of snowflakes and Wokes who don't know if they are a man or woman 🙈
@@Ptnbf it must have being 40 years ago. You walk through our capital city and Irish ppl are a minority. You go to our town and villages and it's like the UN.
If time travel is ever invented I’m going back to that day
We were poor back then, but richer in so many ways.
Sooooo many ways 😢

Look how brilliant Dublin is back then ❤️
Jack Charlton never had to buy his own drink again whenever he was in Ireland!
Don't think Packie Bonner's had to buy one yet either.
that is the Ireland I loved. ❤
Brilliant footage!! I miss that passion!!
0:29 worlds greatest football fan....where the hell is that kind of passion today?
Can't support irish team..the woke brigade have destroyed the team. Kelly bonner and Brady are now replaced with well you know..

Jaysus this has put a smile on my face...the big owd fella crying at the start...the very best of times ☘☘
Good quality footage of 1990. High res. Good contrast.
What a great day..I feel a very deep affection for the lad at 29secs!
I'm sure even the Gaa stalwarts were singing Ole Ole albeit quietly lol
DuderinoDeux ah here, what's wrong with GAA?
@@Moistcraictical What's wrong with the GAA? Do you want me to make a list?

When Ireland was a country with real Irish people on the island it’s completely ruined now
That was after the draw against the mighty Egyptians
A time when Ireland was a fantastic place.. not a drug ridden cess pit it is today..
Dublin in the 90s was full of drugs 😂
@@ceilimrobinson3096 I think you'll find it was a lot safer than modern " woke " Ireland
I came back after living abroad and Ireland is beyond safe.
@dyskr crime stats have shot up though, quite sharply since the late naughties.
Dublin is a shithole
Remember when "mooning" was a thing 😂?
Ha yeah

@Republic Media (RM) nobody remembers bring 2 ffs 😂😂😂
I wonder how gardai would behave of this went on today.
Our teacher showed us this video and the part when the 2 guys toke his pants down all the people in my class saw that and everyone was laughin 😂
You won't find any Irish in oconnell Street now
Good times!! ⚽⚽

Ah back when ireland was ireland but funnily when the irish team were english
Back then, when you see grardi walking the streets!
If we had won the World Cup the celebrations would still be going on today 🤣
When you say RTE why is it we only seeing this now???
Great times in a bar... not a phone to record anyone hence the lack of embarrassment to sing and chant ❤
It's sad because these ppl are actually going to be the last of the real Irish. We're been colonised today.
