Wow Awesome, loved this video ,Thank You ,im a 51yo Thinkpad and Linux Fanboy, lol ,been using Linux since 2008 and still learning, I have among other machines a Thinkpad x61 with ultrabase and i have Void Linix running on it ,and is it fast got a very old machine, you can run 64bit OS on the Thinkpad x61 and i have maxed my ram to 8bg, Enjoy your learning and Linux experience and always do what works for you! Greetings from Cape Town!
I am so happy you enjoyed this video! You have confirmed for me that the ThinkPad x61 can take 8GB or RAM. My latest upload speaks of my comic adventures learning about that :D. I agree with the 64bit OS. I installed LInux Mint Cinnamon on mine and it is 64 bit and was pleasantly surprised that I could seamlessly connect online. Thanks so much for stopping by to watch my video. All the best! Cheers! :)
You may have a hard time putting Linux Mint on that ThinkPad as it's so old. You'll need a 32-bit version of Mint, and after a quick bit of research it looks as though Mint discontinued 32-bit several versions ago. The only remaining version in 32-bit is Mint LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) but that only comes with the Cinnamon desktop and might be too heavy for a system of your age.
@@stylishthriftye Yes, upgrading the RAM would definitely help. The maximum for your laptop is 4GB, so you could see if you can get another stick of the exact same RAM you already have. You should always try to use a matching pair.

Cinnamon is actually not that heavy, it's also lightweight. But you can (and is recommended to) replace that anyways
@@FlyboyHelosim Thank you 🙏 for your input. Do you think upgrading the RAM might help?
@@VolpeJosesk Thank you! I will definitely look into that. Cheers! 😊
@@VolpeJosesk I've seen Cinnamon struggle on systems with much better CPUs and more RAM.
