    Yes, leather collars do need care to keep them in tip top condition. Oil does stop them from going brittle. Coat them with beeswax will keep the wet and the damp off. Water is what wears on the leather and makes it brittle.

    How much belt

  • @parrotbill
    @parrotbill 7 лет назад +2

    Kevlar is lighter than leather and twice a strong. No matter what, dogs will get hot, but Leather is much hotter that Kevlar. And our hogs live in the wet swamps here, so the dogs get a chance to soak down on the chase.

      very true. I would love to put Kevlar on my dogs.

    My collar is bullet proof, it's made of the same Kevlar the cops wear to stop small caliber bullets with. Have to wait until my baby girl Boovia ( Bouvier des Flandres) grows up to 90 pounds before I get her the Kevlar Vest. A wild Hog would play Hell to cut through that, and give the dog a lot of confidence.
    It's the best! www.hardcorehogdogs.com/Cut_Gear.html

    Hi Clay, what makes the seatbelt contraption more suited for Australian conditions? Is there a difference between the pigs of the two places?
    Also I was wondering do they make protection from a material like Kevlar? I imagine Kevlar to be expensive but it's use in stab vests and being lightweight makes me think it would be good.

    • @ClayTallStories
      @ClayTallStories  8 лет назад

      +M-Sparx The pig hunting in Ozzy is mostly done in more open territory making large vests practical. In NZ we have more tight bush and use 2-4 dogs, where as in Ozzy often hunters often use just one large breed dog. Kevlar does get used in Japan and NZ but the price puts off most hunters. Seat belting is a choice product but there are many products out there. This video only touched on what I use . There are many companies making the same thing with other materials.

    • @m-m8835
      @m-m8835 8 лет назад

      +Clay Tall Stories that makes perfect sense. It's interesting to see the ingenuity in your designs in order to get a product that works. Loving the videos especially the fishing it's a great change up. Id love to see some more on possums in the future I didn't realise they were such a problem in NZ. They seem to grow enormous over there ( I'm from Aus)

    • @ClayTallStories
      @ClayTallStories  8 лет назад

      Hunting is all seasonal here. Its too hot for hunting most days in summer. We hit the possums in winter when their coats are full. I have a few trips away on the sea and land booked this year so there should be a bit of every thing.

      g'day mate. We bread Bruno out of a bitch we had called Asia. The studd dog was from a bloke who I use to hunt with but I no longer have his contact details or any contact with him. Sadly I had to put Asia down for showing aggression and savaging my landlords dog.

      +Clay Tall Stories do you know any materials that can handle wolf bites we have a wolf in my town that has been killing people's pet and livestock and he is thriving I had a cat about 10 years ago he was killed just across the street away from me I'm getting a puppy and I want to protect him from that monster.

      +Michael Harder don't worry I'm not a poacher I have a legal hunting license and a license to own a 50 cal plus it's a muzzle loader and everyone has tried hunting this son of a bitch including me and when a wild animal kills a pet or livestock it's guns free.

    Hi Clay, IHemp is 10 X stronger than steel ( Kevlar is only 5 X stronger than steel ) I see a line of Rip Collars made from IHemp cloth, " Clay's Cover "...we want the best for our dog's, IHemp cloth is it..loved the vid..IHemp fibre will snag and hold tusk, low cost, multi layered, as you know the word Canvas comes from Cannabis..and then we have #Hempcrete..my future home..check it out bro, can grow your own building material..sell crop, bank the $$, and #Hempcrete is made from the waste , just add water and lime..cures to stone..post and beam construction as is my straw bale home..

    • @ClayTallStories
      @ClayTallStories  4 года назад +1

      interesting

    • @JohnSmith-pj3gi
      @JohnSmith-pj3gi 3 года назад

      Hempcrete is a crappy product. You can kick it and knock off chunks of it. It also wicks water like crazy and is impossible to seal.

    • @perkar49
      @perkar49 3 года назад

      @@JohnSmith-pj3gi takes a few years to cure to stone, seals very well with a lime render, a good home breathes, #hempcrete wall's approx 250 - 300 wide with post and beam construction. your point about kicking chunks off, before cured of course, as you can walk in wet cement..? why would you..#hempcrete is the future of GOOD home building, made from the waste after crop has been sold..but then I am bias, my home is made of straw, with an earth roof .low stone wall and a big hat ( eaves ) is best for both straw bale and #hempcrete

    hey clay if u got time cause your a busy could u maybe do a video on dog kennels for utes and for home

    • @ClayTallStories
      @ClayTallStories  8 лет назад

      I have made a clip on making dog kennels out of recycled stuff Jayden. Making dog boxes for utes is a bit more complex and I wont be making anything like that for a while. The cheapest option is always buying one second. I design alloy dog boxes for Central engineering in Nelson so if you are after a new one I can help steer you in the right direction. If you are after a cheap second hand one I might be able to help you too.

      I saw a clip of him eating and his front teeth on his bottom jaw all look like they are straight. Like more squared than round. As far as I know only the Dogo Argentino has that. So I thought he might be part Dogo. Plus they are basically bred to hunt boar. I could be wrong though...
