    This is an important video for play by ear students because foundation seems to be more obvious for sight-readers. You can get Alfreds, Bastien books, etc. But you can be left in no man's land playing by ear if you're going the self-taught route without a plan.

      True. Especially in terms of repertoire. There are no difficulty gradings on songs when playing by ear.

    I spend most of my time in the repertoire category. The category i need to work on urgently is technique building. There are a lot of licks runs and lines i want to play but i find it difficult because of my technique building level. Thanks boss for another big encouragement

    Very important piece of advice Warren. This sòrt of gives direction to anyone aspiring to play the instrument but learning on their own. As you mention in this video, there's so much offered in the internet but all of it count for nothing if there's no proper structure being followed.

    I have been full.face in love with the piano for 10 years now , but in the same time everytime I think of it , I almost want to cry , feeling I do not understand music no matter how much I try , how many scales I work on how many videos I watch .
    I do not know If I'll ever make it , but you have brought alot of joy to my life Warren . I'm happy people can enjoy and share music the way that you do .

    Great info Warren! Thanks for sharing. I'm truly enjoying learning the theory, progressions, repertoire and technique (scales) but haven't ventured into Ear Training as yet. I'm loving the structure of your courses and really learning a lot. As a beginner, I am amazed at all that I have learnt in less than 2 months. Thanks Warren! Oh!     Bro. Warren, some time ago ( I think it was last year) you did a similar video on how to improve a person's playing ( become a more skillful piano player). After watching this video I finally got clarity on how to practice. I confess I have been a little frustrated with not making the progress I want to make. I have your templates and I know now how to workout my practice.

    I really love this video!!! You said alot when you mentioned about searching for videos to learn from. I just stumbled on to yours and in this shirt amount of time I've learned a great deal. I'm trying to get what's in my head to come out of my hands and hopefully you can guide me to that point. Not have a music teacher to guide me is a struggle. So I'm force to learn on my own and I am very green/beginner. Trying to step up to help my church out in a sudden short fall. And I'm starting from square 1!!! Thank you sir for your help!

    Hi Warren could you expand a little on movable solfage vs intervals recognition? How do they relate to each other?

      Alejandro Medina sulfege is just the syllables we assign to the different degrees of the scale. Interval recognition is straight forward - it means being able to tell what interval is being played by ear.

    Warren, I was playing a lot on Instrumentals like, Misty, You Are So Beautiful, Over The Rainbow, Tenderly. But with a personal reason I have not played for 6 months. I'm quite a bit older than you, and I've just today 4/24/201 started to set downing play. Would you have any advice for me, as I fell a little down or maybe fear that How long I'm going to have to work to get it back again. Thanks Warren.

      Start with daily technique exercises - scales, blocked chords, broken chords, arpeggios etc... this will get the fingers moving again in no time.

    what about me, I'm left handed. what is the best solution about songs? play what we heard with our own ears and combine the tutorials of the song we learn? like me i have several tutorials *how to play amazing grace* but also i like to play it with what i hear. Is that bad? 🤷🏼‍♂️🙏🏼

    I'm using a verve ATM card which is not allowed as a method of payment for subscription to ur courses.

      Azuka Joshua we currently accept all debit cards, credit cards, and PayPal.

      @@PianoLessonwithWarren they PayPal doesn't support a Verve ATM card, it only support MasterCard ,Visa, Discover.
      Perhaps I'd and just go to my bank and demand for a MasterCard.

    I'm most struggling with repertoire and technique, I've been playing 10yrs and I'm 16 now, everyone thinks I play well but I feel like I've been playing less than 10yrs due to the lack of these two things.

    May i ask. Are ear training apps an effective way of learning intervals? If yes, any suggestions. I am looking to learn intervals away from piano.

      aimthemoon quaytalig yes apps can be a great tool for practicing ear training. There are many apps on the market and unfortunately I don’t know which is the best as I’ve never tested any. However, I’m in the process of creating my own ear training app 😊
