there is Inkscape for illustrator; GIMP or Krita for photoshop; Cinelerra-gg[linux only] or kdenlive for premiere; Natron for after-effects; scribus for indesign; figma or penpot for Xd; darktable or rawtherapee for lightroom; zathura[terminal-tool:reader] or xpdf[reader] or your web browser, libresign or docuseal [signatures], libreoffice or inkscape [editing-pdf] for adobe acrobat there is also effekseer for general vfx and soundux for a soundboard tool. Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!
Years ago I switched away from Adobe to Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher, DaVinci Resolve, PDF Expert, and I never looked back. It was shocking to me how it took a ‘major event’ for people to realize Adobe isn’t worth their wallets-but progress is progress.
Pdf expert isn't open source and is only available for Mac. I guess if you use mac you kinda have to go with it. Everything else is a cool choice though
Do t forget Photopea. Browser based Photoshop clone. I have the affinity suite too but Photopea is great for when I have to do some work on a random PC that doesn't have anything installed already.
I recently bought the Affinity Suite! As far as I've used it, it's way better than Adobe right off the bat! It's faster, takes less storage, and to me feels more intuitive too.
One of the most important things said: Support the alternatives. Affinity, DaVinci, Krita, Inkscape, Blender. Spend a few $ to keep the ecosystem strong. Single source = trouble.
Myself and many others are still trying to convince Serif to port their Affinity suite to Linux. That is a _MASSIVE_ untapped market, and they keep turning a deaf ear to us. But Linux _needs_ a professional creative suite. I have seen far too many people say they would switch to Linux in a heartbeat, but they can't because they need Adobe for their work. Now, an increasing number are saying the same but about Affinity and not Adobe.
As the owner of a small creative company, I've got a outright ban on Adobe products for all the reasons listed in this video. Yeah, the like three people in my org aren't a huge difference, but it's a start, and the more creatives that get off Adobe the better we'll be as a community.
I haven't paid Adobe a penny since they switched to the subscription model. Even back then, I had an idea of where this would lead. I always look around for open source alternatives before I buy a new app. Unfortunately, I'm pretty much alone in this. I try to make people aware, but just like with privacy issues, it usually fails due to laziness or habit.
Henry, thank you so much for the reminder. I have always hated this company but I needed it for work😭it is behaving like such a control freak to users and it buying out every competitor is just BS. I hate that I am paying them to encourage this behaviour, I need to see when my sub ends and make the switch.
What is awful about this is if you work in a corporate scenario where the company you work for pays for it and you are forced to use it because of their choices. In those situations, I have chosen to focus on bringing up alternatives for the company from time to time. Also, definitely rooting for the FTC to hit Adobe with everything they've got, this is textbook "unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the marketplace."
I still have to deal with them robbing me of my moneys cause the cancellation fee is still too much for me to pay for. When I found out about it a couple of months ago it triggered me considering I actually looked for cancellation stuff before I bought it and nun showed up till the recent months when adobe was getting deserved hate for the AI and file stuff. I honestly do hope adobe gets clapped for this and can’t come back to do it again
They tried to charge me hundred and something dollars for a PDF reader because I forgot to cancel the trial. And then they locked me into a contract so even if I canceled I would still be paying hundred dollars.
Not being able to buy their software is reason why I don't buy it. I don't want subscriptions, I want software that still runs 10 years later. So in that sense adobe has done mistake that if with buying they got get $400 from me once per 10 years then with subscription they get $0 from me but I am still using their software.....
One of the main reasons I left was because I defaulted to using Adobe products even if they weren’t the best just because I was paying for it. My creativity and skill set suffered because the apps did not always work well and caused friction. With healthy competition and the backlash Adobe has received the past few months, maybe Adobe will do better for their users who stay.
God please let them leave Figma alone, I don’t want to use any of their products! I hope this video gains traction and encourages fairer alternatives or more people to sail the high seas 🏴☠️🏴☠️
Good job with the video, very good summary of the whole situation. The editing is on point, too. In terms of workflow, I like using the Affinity Suite, DaVinci Resolve and Blender. Affinity products, especially, are getting to a point where they are actually a solid, if not better, replacement to the mainstream Adobe apps.
Very good video. I left Adobe and am very happy that I did. Feel bad for those who feel tied to them. Hopefully, they can find an acceptable alternative and then stop giving bad companies money.
That was the first thought I had when learning about this. Oh, They charge you more when you leave? Good luck billing this defunct card. . Thank goodness I never thought to try Adobe.
I use the free trial, but I use the free trial for monthly not for yearly. I sometimes need to use Acrobat so I sign up the free trial and end it without paying for it.
Davinci Resolve is really a lot more superior to premiere , affinity suite is a pretty good alternative to photoshop and illustrator, unfortunately I have not found a good alternative for after effects yet , maybe fusion but not really

PPS: It's HOT in CA, and you can't run AC while recording videos :P
Jordan did a great job! It’s very easy to follow and understand.
Before reading this comment I noticed the editing was more engaging than usual - good work Jordan!

Put your feet in cool water!
Their new terms and conditions giving them access to the contents of your docs is an overreach and too much power.
Remote Adobe Trojen behaviour.
Companies like Adobe would absolutely plunge society into an age of technofuedalism if ever given the chance. It is disgusting.
Affinity Suite + Libre Office

I wish more people would talk about the “de facto standard” aspect of adobe, and the need to break that stranglehold on the whole industry

We need more software like Blender

There's also the issue where they make it as difficult as possible to uninstall their apps if you don't have an active account.
Affinity is amazing. Moved years ago and couldn’t be happier 😊

Affinity is amazing. Especially Designer. Illustrator is a piece of sh.. in comparison when it comes to UX. Designer is so intuitive.
They tried to charge me hundred and something dollars for a PDF reader because I forgot to cancel the trial. And then they locked me into a contract so even if I canceled I would still be paying hundred dollars.
Oh I haven't left adobe, but you better believe I'm sailing the high seas with them 😉
🙈
I used to sail high seas but nowadays I'm worried about malware or viruses
However, I use linux now so already said goodbye to adobe and co 😂
How about just changing software? If you're a professional then that's a lawsuit waiting. If you're a casual then there's even more reason to change
@@Azure_dragon0 sailing the high seas made me good at catching malware.

Inkscape is a solid alternative to Adobe Illustrator. For those interested in switching.
We need more Adobe alternatives!
Davinci Resolve is bae and I can't wait to join a class action lawsuit against Adobe 🕺

GIMP for life.

I hope this video gains traction and encourages fairer alternatives or more people to sail the high seas 🏴☠️🏴☠️
adobe acts like a gangster at this point.
I left Adobe last month, got Affinity and DaVinci Resolve instead.
Love how I got an ad for Adobe during this video.
Now all I need is After Effects alternative.
Affinity photo/designer/publisher ftw!
GiMP, Krita and InkScape too
Your editing game keeps getting better!
New editor!
I wonder if there are alternatives for validating digital signatures, that's the only thing I use adobe for.
Search for poppler utils or Libreoffice draw or Master pdf editor.
They can do that for you.
I just got an add break about adobe in the middle of the video, the irony.

pro tip: switch payment method to virtual credit card, then freeze the virtual card.
Privacy app, the only way to pay online.

I use Affinity
Great eye opening video
Sounds like a nightmare!!
They are worse than the British army; for those who don't know, to leave the British army you have to "pay your way out". An exit fee.
Just use Infinity and Shotcut. Thanks
Davinci Resolve is really a lot more superior to premiere , affinity suite is a pretty good alternative to photoshop and illustrator, unfortunately I have not found a good alternative for after effects yet , maybe fusion but not really
InkScape and GiMp, also Krita and Kdenlive
I need an open source alternative for Acrobat, any suggestions?
Libreoffice
is there an alternative for Adobe InDesign?
affinity publisher 2

Great vid
thank goodness am not that tech savvy and brought the full fat Adobe suite
i did buy Elements but lost it when closed computer when updated it
Vote for Lina Khan!
If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing.
So what about Acrobat on my iPhone? Do I need to be concerned?
you forgot to mention krita which is one of the more competent photoshop alternatives
Do you plan to make a video on the latest Google events and non-chromium browser recommendations?
Yes, more should leave adobe. And by leave, we do not mean pirate. Switch to different software and show others that adobe isn't the end-all be-all
Are you going to switch to Linux any time soon?
because the adobe suite is overpriced bullshit.
Most people I have educated in this company practice just ignore me.
3:02 I'm so lucky I'm getting the full Adobe Suite for *free* from campus. Once I end those studies, however, I'll have to relearn other tools. :(
9:05 Wondering what GIMP couldn't do you needed? Specific info is better than a generic it didn't work for me.

Auto-renewal is illegal in the EU.

affinity isn't available for linux.
Neither is the Adobe suite so you won't be any worse off
Instead try GiMP, InkScape and Krita
I thought you left Adobe as a company. Title is slightly misleading. Why I hate dropped Adobe suite for alternatives.
+1
Dude, the sweat on your forehead tho' 🙈
Those alternatives suck.
They aren't even open source.
Let alone have Linux builds.
Microshaft is at least equally scummy.
Notesnook is awesome!
