Last time Timo Boll got dominated by Lee Sang Su but this time was a Great Revenge by Timo Boll Great Job!! I noticed that Timo tried to step to the right side of the table to BH flick receive making it harder for Lee to do 3rd ball attack.
I don't mean to bash Jean Ove Waldner but at 38, JOW was in terrible shape although his skills were still great. Timo on the other hand, is playing his best table tennis at 42 because he's a more discipline athlete. Good for you Timo! you give us old folks hope.
In fact Boll is one of the most injury plagued players he even skipped the WTTC in 2009 to injuries aged only 28yo. Waldner was good till his mid 30's which is great for a player who lived and died by his forehand. In every sport players last more than they did 20 years ago, Waldner's carreer trajectory is incomparable to that of Boll.
It was a good choice for Timo to retire. Not because of his age or ability but rather because the modern game no longer looks like fun. It's all serve and rip. Super boring!
