I love Lea Michelle, ever since i first saw her on glee... the way i see it, with her newer songs, clearly there are hints of her relationship with Cory in it. And she misses him greatly. I get the pain she feels, I too lost a boyfriend of mine. it is always sad when people die young, but it is worse when that person was someone close to you, like Cory was close to Lea.
This song is like half of me, my reasoning side, talking to my current irrational side about God and religion. *"Done chasing, why you chasing something else?"* Asking myself why do I keep pursuing reasons to believe in a God when I've found out things pertaining to the writers of it. That, and the more I study about the human brain and nature, the more I realize how powerful the mind is that can easily have created the idea of an all-powerful being the way complex numbers were created to make up for something. *"I can't take it anymore."* My reasoning is getting fed up with these excuses and trying so hard to believe in something that may not exist. *"Done lying for the truth to come out your mouth, when the answer's screaming loud."* Pretending that I'm a firm believer in God around family or debating atheists, and how the opposite is just tugging so hard at my conscience and is so obvious. *"You play the role, I'll play the lead. We strike a pose."* My reasoning pointing out how my belief is all an act, and that it should take over my irrationality and lead who I really am. *"I was too blind to see this ain't what it seems."* My irrational side slowly admitting that the whole idea of God and having a "relationship" with him is futile, and that all these years that have gone by, it's not real and it's not beautiful. It's really a _Battlefield_ (Lea's other song), because "what seemed like a good idea has turned into a Battlefield," and "peace will come when one of us puts down the gun." I would finally find internal peace if I just admit to it, that this entire belief is a joke, so I won't have to worry and stress and doubt all the time, and feel worse whenever something goes wrong. *"What is love? When you don't know who you're lying next to anymore? What is love? You don't know what love is, 'til you love somebody bad enough."* Asking myself what really IS love? They say God is love, but I find real happiness in what I do and the people I love platonically and, some years ago, romantically. The fact that I've truly been in love with a guy makes my love for God and God himself seem generic, incomplete, and not real, because I didn't doubt for a second the feelings I had for that guy. *"What is love to you?"* My reasoning asking me directly, asking for a serious answer with no faking. *"It's madness like an earthquake that shakes your soul. Then you're left with all destruction."* The entire belief system in God is detrimental to one's self, because I'm constantly battling against myself, stirring up so many different emotions, ideas, excuses. And when something goes wrong, I feel hopeless and like God either doesn't exist or is just a sadistic being that enjoys seeing those he love struggle to the point of defeat. *"You're frozen and you don't change. Who's gonna save us now? 'Cause I can't stay this way for long."* Telling myself that you're still going to make mistakes and "sin," and you can't change who you are because of a simple religion. Those who feel like a brand new person, it's usually either a prolong act filled with holes and doubts, or temporary pretending that everything's better, but when all hell breaks loose, who's really gonna save you? God, doctors, or yourself? Fate is in control, so who can save you from what fate has in store? Finally, my reasoning straight out tells me that it's through with pretending and can't do it any longer or it's done and will let me to become a slave to my irrationality. From Lea's "Thousand Needles," it is my irrational side talking to my reasoning side, asking why would it want to leave, leaving darkness within myself and left to rot with empty promises and prayers. But after listening to my reasoning, I realize that believing in a God was really just tearing me apart and useless, and "just one drop (speaking the truth) will flood out this lie (that God exists)," described in Lea's "Battlefield."
Sick of people coming on every video related to glee at all and hating on cory and lea. Leave it alone, what do you have to prove? No one cares about your opinion. Lea is more talented than you'll ever be.
