This song could be one of the best kept metal secrets of all time.
Having been a metal fan for 25 years, and hearing Iced Earth's cover for the first time on a Spotify shuffle last week, you could be right! Thought it sounded Maidenish. Had no idea this existed. Wow.
The other way around for me. Just listened to the Iced Earth's version thanks to you, I had no idea about their cover. :) I still prefer Maiden's version, tho

@@gvyrock j'ai beaucoup joué et pratiqué la guitare quand j'étais plus jeune. Donc je connais ces chansons très bien. Maintenant je m'entraîne moins mais je joue avec des groupes de musique souvent donc je travaille régulièrement la guitare.

awesome!!! just plain awesome! and it finally proves i actually did know better (im mainly a drummer), than my guitar playing band mates: its triplets not sixteenth notes during the intro. thanks for displaying this so greatly.
one more thing: whats the exact picking pattern for the verse? trying to learn this on guitar, but my right hand is not "in tune" on this one... thanks a bunch!!!
lastly, i noticed a Lâg strat style guitar on one of your videos (i want it all, i think), but cant seem to find anything on the net, especially with a pick guard. would you mind sharing some detail, where u found it, mods, history, cause its a really nice sounding and looking guitar, imho...

Does anyone else find the verse riffs difficult with getting the right pace/fret changes as on the album?
I know this is a late response to your question, but I find the picking pattern to be very challenging too. It's funny, I've listened to this track countless times since this album came out, but never realized how tricky the verse riff was until trying to play it now.

The first solo was played by Dennis Stratton on the album. I've seen many videos where he plays a Les Paul, that's why I did it too.
On the second solo I play my stratocaster like Dave Murray.
