Evelin Soto sameeee 😭 I was looking into it a little bit more and found out that another way to figure out if you need to bulk or cut is by knowing your body fat % , less than or 20% you can start to bulk and reaching over 25% is when to start cutting again this has helped me a little

Evelin Soto omggg I was at 18% around the time when I posted the original comment I tried doing like a clean bulk and lowkey it became a little of a dirty bulk but now I have gained some pounds some and am at 19% almost 20% body fat and I have been trying to lift heavier and only do cardio once in a while I’ve taking progress pics and I believe it working in lifting a little heavier on my lower body and I physically don't look like I have gained weight around my stomach but I think I’m going to try and cut again bc even tho I still see like the two little ab lines on my stomach I miss being more lean 🥺

I started bulking an I realised there’s bulk /maintain then cut ,so I’ve started bulking while building muscle ,I always find bulking is brillient dunno why ppl get scared of it ,I’ve gone from size 8 to a 12 an it’s more muscle than fat ,I don’t think I will want to cut unless I’m in a competition 💁🏻♀️,an the calorie intake is very hard work but worth it 😍cardio i do as sets as your body can kill your gains if you run to much etc an I learnt that the hard way 🙈 so I fast pace jog ,bolt then walk fast 5 mins each on the days I don’t lift weights 🙂

I'm struggling...my upper body has so much more fat than the lower body.actually lower body is almost perfect .very lean. But to lose upper body fat,I should do cutting diet I guess,but I always start losing from lower body ...so I don't know what to do. I don't wanna lose lower body anymore 😵

Naomi Lecoq there’s no such thing as “losing upper body fat” you lose body fat overall through your body. Some people store their fat in different places so if you have a bigger upper body it means that you need to cut fat period and it just happens to store on your upper body. Cardio and overall weight training are good for fat cutting.
LaHyuuga Okay that all makes sense but what she’s saying is, how would she be capable of increasing leg size (muscle gains duh) but with upper body fat loss. The simple answer would quite literally be decreasing caloric intake and starving the fat but also feeding the muscles. She could weight train her leg muscles by isolation and do cardio for general fat loss. She would lose fat all over but her legs wouldn’t thin further bc she’d be building the muscle. Bit late but if anyone else is interested usually bulking lasts 3-5 months depending on whether you feel you’ve gained enough. Cutting is usually shorter maybe around 2-3 months. It all depends on your body, if you feel you’ve lost enough fat and can see enough muscle then you’re done

I've been trying to bulk for a while but I've actually been getting smaller, I believe my error was that I was not eating enough despite busting my butt at the gym😂 I am definitely stronger but I didn't seem "bigger" if that makes sense and it was really discouraging. Are bulking and cutting a never ending cycle to staying fit and maintaining muscle or at some point do you just go into a maintenance mode when you reach your body goals?
Just Cho yeas u can maintain for a bit but u never want to remain stagnant for too long so you have to atleast up your reps or weights eventually or tweak your diet a little as the years go by
In 5 years I’ve bulked 3 times cut after then maintain then when I platue at maintenance, I up my calories and weights and set compound lift goals to gain more strength I try to lift heavier every week in a bulk so when it’s cutting time I have more muscle and I’m stronger at a much lighter weight ... it’s a never ending cycle but that’s what makes the life style fun .. not everyone has to do that though lol I do because I have a hard time gaining weight, my best friend workouts everyday without bulking and cutting out and focuses on heart health and health over all

I was wondering, When you cut. And lets say eat 1800kcal and you then train and burn 200 Will you Then eat the 200 kcal so you get up to 1800 again or Will you let it be a bigger defeset Then? I Always dont know wether to do this or not😊 you are so Big inspo❤️
its personal preference. I don't eat my exercise calories back. it can lead to overreating since training raises your appetite hormones and can lead you to accidentally consume more calories than you meant to. once I reach my calorie limit for the day, I'm done eating. less tempting to snack that way!
Your maintenance calories are calculated taking into consideration your activity level and the exercise you normally do. For example, my maintenance calories are 1,900 that includes the 4 days i train at the gym, If i didn't exercise at all then my maintenance would be lower than that. The online macro calculators will ask you for your activity level and exercise regimen to calculate your maintenance

Is it possible to gain muscles and lose fat at the same time? I mean your weight stays the same but by doing cardio you lose fat and by exercising you gain muscles?
As a beginner, you might be able to do both at the same time. However, building muscle and losing fat require a different environment to optimally occur. Eating in a caloric surplus is optimal for building muscle, and eating in a caloric deficit is optimal for losing fat. Muscle is more dense than fat - so if you were to replace your fat tissue by muscle tissue your weight will go up. That is why just relying on the scale is not something that is recommended! Replacing one by the other will be rare though, as losing fat is a much faster process compared to building muscle tissue:)
Muscle is never more dense than fat. When I was body building in my 20s I would gain 15lbs of muscle and low fat on body but scale never went down=muscle weighs more. All crossfit people that are serious gain 20lbs of muscle. Either way to answer question for this young lady is she lost me number 1. Depends on genetics some people can cut bulk and burn fat but it’s a tedious process. It will drive you insane if you are vain and you have to weigh yourself daily...take pics every 2 weeks. Measure weekly. Grab fat calipers because I tried to bulk so many time with just 10lbs over weight and what happens with my genetics being an endormorth and Cuban (we store fat faster) is when I try to lift heavy I actually swell up water...muscle and fat. Even when taking fat completely out or adding 40 grams a day. My suggestion is which all Hispanic and Latin people do the stress free way is strip all your weight off completely before bulking. If you do it fast it won’t cause muscle wasting too much then once you Plautue from ketogenic diet and cardio first. When that stops you add circuit training with cycling carbs. Our body adapts 21 days to 6 weeks so by then you should be the weight you want then start not bulking because it’s impossible to bulk and cut unless you use hormones but you can cut with toning lifting heavy one day lighter the next cutting down cardio. I actually am opposite I bulk but won’t cut so I’m dying to see how she really does it with higher fat percentage. I really think it’s too tedious I see fat people at crossfit lifting weights and still fat. Takes them 2 yrs to drop and still not lean. It’s a math I cannot figure out
Would you say to Bulk first and then Cut? If goal is overall strength? Looking to get strength as well as the overall looks. Current body fat % is around 24.5. I did a cut for a while and then just maintained. I wouldn't mind cutting and then bulking. And then eventually cutting again. I'm 5'9" and weight around 166 on the average day. I've never truly understood bulking. Why do people do it ? Surely if you intake the appropriate protien, vits and minerals for your body weight to repair after a workout then take isotonic drink pre and during workout then I really don't see the advantage of actively overdosing to bulk....then essentially going on an OTT diet just to loose it?? Additionally, the boom bust gain and loss are not good cycles for your body....messes with hormones big time. So please can you explain why this is necessary?

Is it possible to gain muscles and lose fat at the same time? I mean your weight stays the same but by doing cardio you lose fat and by exercising you gain muscles?
As a beginner, you might be able to do both at the same time. However, building muscle and losing fat require a different environment to optimally occur. Eating in a caloric surplus is optimal for building muscle, and eating in a caloric deficit is optimal for losing fat. Muscle is more dense than fat - so if you were to replace your fat tissue by muscle tissue your weight will go up. That is why just relying on the scale is not something that is recommended! Replacing one by the other will be rare though, as losing fat is a much faster process compared to building muscle tissue:)
Muscle is never more dense than fat. When I was body building in my 20s I would gain 15lbs of muscle and low fat on body but scale never went down=muscle weighs more. All crossfit people that are serious gain 20lbs of muscle. Either way to answer question for this young lady is she lost me number 1. Depends on genetics some people can cut bulk and burn fat but it’s a tedious process. It will drive you insane if you are vain and you have to weigh yourself daily...take pics every 2 weeks. Measure weekly. Grab fat calipers because I tried to bulk so many time with just 10lbs over weight and what happens with my genetics being an endormorth and Cuban (we store fat faster) is when I try to lift heavy I actually swell up water...muscle and fat. Even when taking fat completely out or adding 40 grams a day. My suggestion is which all Hispanic and Latin people do the stress free way is strip all your weight off completely before bulking. If you do it fast it won’t cause muscle wasting too much then once you Plautue from ketogenic diet and cardio first. When that stops you add circuit training with cycling carbs. Our body adapts 21 days to 6 weeks so by then you should be the weight you want then start not bulking because it’s impossible to bulk and cut unless you use hormones but you can cut with toning lifting heavy one day lighter the next cutting down cardio. I actually am opposite I bulk but won’t cut so I’m dying to see how she really does it with higher fat percentage. I really think it’s too tedious I see fat people at crossfit lifting weights and still fat. Takes them 2 yrs to drop and still not lean. It’s a math I cannot figure out
Would you say to Bulk first and then Cut? If goal is overall strength? Looking to get strength as well as the overall looks. Current body fat % is around 24.5. I did a cut for a while and then just maintained. I wouldn't mind cutting and then bulking. And then eventually cutting again. I'm 5'9" and weight around 166 on the average day. Goal is around 170-175 when finished. Thanks!

My body fat percentage is currently 18.5%, I can't see abs really but as I have only just got over being underweight I don't want to cut but instead gain muscle. As some fat gain is inevitable I was wondering at what body fat percentage should I start cutting?

What if your thyroid is low and exercise doesn’t burn calories at all your diet is the one. I’m on Calorie deficit doing Tabata hitt boxing hot yoga and I’m still bulking not cutting and scale rises when I lift but it keeps rising now 20lbs but no decrease with low carbs higher protein but lower calories so I’m confused it’s either be flabby and slim or chubby and tone I’m short

You can’t bulk specific muscles. If you intake high protein and are working out your entire body, muscle growth will happen anywhere

I've never truly understood bulking. Why do people do it ? Surely if you intake the appropriate protien, vits and minerals for your body weight to repair after a workout then take isotonic drink pre and during workout then I really don't see the advantage of actively overdosing to bulk....then essentially going on an OTT diet just to loose it??
Additionally, the boom bust gain and loss are not good cycles for your body....messes with hormones big time.
So please can you explain why this is necessary?
