Flying Foxes (aka Fruit Bats) are indigeonous to Australia. They aren't typically seen in the wild anywhere else in the world. I didn't know about them either until I started watching MegaBatties channel years ago. She's another Flying Fox rescuer on RUclips.

We have hundreds of bats living in our farm yard. Fantastic animals that control mosquitoes and other biting pests. Love watching them fly around on s bright moon lit night.

When we went to a cottage we always rented every summer, our favorite part would be putting up tiny party lights on strings so we can watch the bats zip around and catch mosquitoes and what not.

They can't go out in the wild usually they go to ended wildlife centers where they take care of them
He goes to creche ( baby bat school) with all the other orphans. They all bond and then are released into the colony adjoined to the property .

And they'd crawl back up to join the rest. They did not look like yours, they were much smaller and looked like mice with wings. Every day at sunset they'd fly out and return before daylight.

I actually clicked on this to see how much I would disagree with the title, because I have never thought bats were cute or even close. That said, this video completely changed my mind. That little dude is adorable. His face looks like a baby version of a cross eyed black bear. That mixed with him snuggling in his blanket/wings sold me 100%. Please treat him good.

@@frankteng Any wild animal can carry harmful diseases. For these Australian fruit bats only about 1% carry any of the harmful diseases. The rescuers are vaccinated as a precaution though since they do work with many bats. It's still best not to touch one and let a rescue worker handle it instead.

It's a freaking bat, it is blind as heck, in order to see it has to create a high pitched sound and receive it back through its ears. So technically he's trying to see instead of being happy.

Tim Crook there’s over 1200 species of bats and not a single one of them is blind. Fruit bats don’t even have the ability to echo locate either, but even the bats with abilities to use sound can have eyesight so good they either prefer to use it over echo location or they can even see ultraviolet light.

@@letmehorror2708 Here in the US, it is true...but, as a kid we lived on the foothills below some caves in Utah and bats would sometimes come inside our home and sleep during the day in our curtains. 🤗 I remember the first time my dad caught one to put outside. It was so small and even with a face not like a fox, flattened and sharp teeth biting at his leather gloves, I was so surprised and mesmerized.
It was so fragile looking. The little bones and veins in its transparent wings...and so vulnerable. I remember my fear vanishing as I realized it was just frightened and not mean...and my heart melted.
I now keep a bathouse on my house...and love to watch them catch mosquitos in the late afternoon or early evening. I have for many years. I even plant flowers that they like to visit in my yard. (Moonflowers (datura) are one that they and the honeybees enjoy)
I think people might not have ever seen a bat close up, in person...or never stopped and realized what they really are like.
My experoence 49 years ago changed how I see them forever.
I love bats. They are important to keeping the balance in nature, as well.
It wants to sit with his mom. You can call yourself a rescuer if you like but I see the care and the love you give them and your name is mom.
More than a real mom you raise them so you know they will succeed.....
