Today 28th May boat has been completely striped out all the ballast cleaned and dried refitted all new floor fitted.Boat has had a survey and some overplating being done, engine bay been completely stripped to bare metal and repainted now waiting for the new engine to be fitted then it will be usable again.
@bigKDL he's a lovely chap, he did tell me he'd have her back in the water within 12 months and he's been sending regular pictures of the build. He's done an amazing job, with your help you say? Well done if so
I’m curious about several issues. I assume fresh water (River), so that would eliminate some salt issues. I’m sure the interior will be a total redo. Hopefully, the engine can be repaired rather than replaced. A channel on the refit would be a great idea! Good luck to the owner!
Hi Ken, yes the inside of the boat is a total right off, we think that the engine will be useable with a lot of tlc though, our engineers perform a "first aid" service for submerged engines and they are effective in bringing some of the engines back to life and sometimes this will be covered by the owners insurance. A channel specifically for refits is a good idea, but for us to do that would be almost a full time position, so isn't possible for us to do...sadly... However, the chap does send us updated photo's of the refit, so once he has finished his build, we will publish a video, because there has been a lot of interest in this recovery. Thanks for your comment, we do pass on good luck messages and messages of support to him. I believe that he also sees this on youtube.
Hats off to the owner's positive attitude, and interesting to see how you went about refloating her. Was RCR working directly for the owner or for the insurers?
Did the boat his that tree that's growing across the canal why don't crt cut those trees back I see so many like that growing over almost half the canal making navigation very difficult and dangerous for those driving on boats
We're not sure if the tree was overhanging the river, we only know that the current took the boat towards the bank while he was turning and it became entangled in the trees on the bank. There are a lot of overhanging trees on the system though, so you're right to be careful
Not an exact figure, but having rebuilt a boat myself, although it is 20 feet bigger.. It will run into the many thousands, he is doing everything himself though which cuts the price down. I would estimate somewhere between 10k - 15k I will ask the owner once he's completed it. He's very upbeat about it, lovely chap
It is great to see an old lady being brought back to life great work.
Great job guys
Thankyou very much, teamwork makes the dream work

You're doing a great job! Can't believe how fast your progress is, I'll contact you soon to sort out a follow up vid. Keep going!
Do you have a channel we can follow it on?
@@Alan_AB no I am not the owner just a friend helping him get it back up and running he is not interested in being on you tube

Great video. Does the owner have a channel we can follow them on?

The owner works with us once the insurance company pay out
Owner should start a RUclips channel for the restoration, might get some of his costs back. I'd watch it.
We will be doing a follow up video of this one, the owner sends us weekly progress pictures, lovely chap
Just waiting for the new engine to be fitted then the owner will be using it again before the end of June
@@bigKDL That's an amazing turn around! it took me 2 years to get our boat back in the water after going back to metal!
Cool story
Thankyou very much!
Google will not let me reply to your message. Who knows why? Thanks for the update.
No problem Ken, good old google eh?! Thanks very much

Wondering how much the restoration will cost from cross the pond. What a harrowing ordeal the lot of it. Keep safe gents.

Well done to everyone involved. Appreciate the upload too as I’ve always wondered how this sort of recovery is undertaken. Keep the videos coming🍻
@@Multipleimaging Thankyou very much, more coming soon
No oil pollution barrier? Tut tut, you wouldn’t get a job in salvage guys.
Again, this vessel had been sunk for months before we got to it, so the complaint would not be for RCR
