Liam said Noel’s wife has a lot to do with it and I believe him. Noel’s has lost his guts along the way Either that or he is eternally bitter Sad really how I miss oasis
@1878EFC2008 That’s so true & profoundly well written. 🧡 I can’t agree more that all Liam needed was more kindness & encouragement in life. Gem was nice to him when the band reformed, teaching Liam new chords on guitar to develop his songwriting skills - it worked a charm & {Little James} came about. “Thank you for your smile” near moved me to tears when I first heard it. Where Noel can harbour bitterness, Liam’s earnestness, especially when sober, is sweet.
When Oasis came on the scene it was like a sprinkling of magic dust everywhere you went, I’m talking about shops, bars, taxis, everywhere on the radio.. Life wouldn’t have been as good without that sound.. It was a fantastic time and they’re still brilliant to this day. Cracking fucking interview. Imagine the 60’s without the Beatles. - Imagine the 90’s without Oasis.
it is a shame they couldn't crank out the catalog of music the beatles did overall...what the fabs did from 63-70 is hard to fathom...the amount of truly great songs made during a 7 year period just will never be topped. having lennon and mccartney with the different sounding voices plus some amazing tracks by Harrison just gave them such flexibility. The older I get the more I am in awe of what the beatles did...love that oasis never hid their love for that band
Great throwback interview. Passion, ambition and swagger, all on display here. It's bittersweet to see the brothers almost finish each others sentences at times-like they were on the same wavelength. Shame that success and business drove 'em apart.
Noel kind of acts daft but in reality he's the puppetmaster and knows all the small details of huge bands of the past, from this he created through massive amount of hard work a 90s wall of sound and attitude which is half crafted and half manic mancunian madness and great fun
Could never really tell if Liam had any brains or not, but he definitely had an instinctive sense of how to look and dress like a rock star. It did feel at the time like he was invincible and knew never to step out the house unless he looked effortlessly cool..hair tick, clothes tick, shades tick, as opposed to Ed Sheeran or Coldplay, who look violently ordinary, nothing like rock stars. He seemed almost super-human, a force of nature, from another planet...not so much in the naughts, but during their heydey he was unbeatable. He spoke unintelligible nonsense, but clearly had something going on to inspire so many kids...and to spawn a million imitators (even if most of them look like twats, he at least made them feel like they could be him). He just had star-power, innate charisma. Know what I mean? The singing voice, too, at its height, was superb...raw power...from 95-98 anyway he was the bees bollocks (and was perfect as I was 13, just the right age to get into them, and witnessed their ascendancy into my late teens...fun times).
Liam hasn’t changed one bit and it’s honestly sad to know just because Noel did (which is rightfully so & very normal), they don’t get along anymore. Especially in the old interviews he always seems to look up to Noel. Just like any other younger sibling with their older one. That comment about “I’m just a fan of him. All I need is the Beatles and him”. So sweet. I hope they find their way back to eachother one day ❤️
Liam has changed a lot, what are you talking about. He's a father, he's more chilled, he tries to take care of his voice, and parties a little less hardcore, and less prone to violence. Liam has said he misses Noel and wants to make up...old Liam would never do these things.

This is one of the best and saddest interviews I have ever seen. I love oasis and both of these lads solo work and this interview showed their true honesty. They didn't care about anything but the music and it was magical. So sad they won't even barely look at each other now.
Imagine a couple of young lads in a band like this nowadays. Exciting, funny and honest. Attitude to burn, swagger and fuckin' tunes! They soundtracked my teens. Mad fer it!
This (and their retro box set interview) is their most “brotherly” interview imo. In that you can see their sibling dynamic quite well here before it went to total shit. Can see there’s plenty of tension, a head butt of personalities, cutting each other off. But there’s also some subtle sibling love... sharing their food, Liam saying he’s Noels fan and that he’s all he needs.
It’s mad that this confidence and swagger in this interview was before Wonderwall and Don’t look back in anger… says it all, it’s not often that people have the talent to match the ego, these legends more than did
Compared to your average band going from nobodies to world famous, Noel and Liam have to be by far the most unique with complete self adulation, pride, belief and at this point mutual admiration that very few other muscians/artists expressed then or now, that humility thats often OTT and expected of artists won't be found with these boys, consistent to this day. Love it, they are genuine, and thats rare.
Striving to be the best you can be is not usually something anybody should be ashamed of. Putting the expletives aside, they simply have a tremendous amount of self-confidence and that is backed up by a catalog of some fantastic music.
I think I'm the only girl who, although I think Liam is beautiful, was crazy about Noel at that time (I'm from 1995). Potato had a hellish charm, especially with dark glasses.
And how about now? He really grew into his looks, and his charm and charisma are off the charts. When I got into Oasis in the late 90s I thought Liam was stunning (he still is) and really liked him, but I felt Noel had something that pulled me over (which as a grown up I deciphered it was what you and I mentioned). ❤️
