You know you are overpowered when your ships can take repeated cyclonic torpedoes and nova canon blasts with only cosmetic damage
So the Old Ones had better tech for the Warp and they could get across the galaxy faster, but space battles have to happen in space, real space, by definition. So the Necrons didn't have access to the Warp or any way to know about it and therefore no way to utilize it. So they only had technology in real space, and when you only have one avenue of tech to research and improve you get really good at it. That's why they are so good in space battles and ground engagements because these battles take place in real space, not the Warp. Or at least that's what I understand from it.
You are correct.
Necrons knew of the warp, that's why by the end of the war they had dolmen gates to breach the webway.
And they have antiwarp twch
10:30 Correction: The Necrontyr didn't have any FTL technology during their first war against the Old Ones, hence why they had to travel for centuries in stasis just to go from one planet to another. The Necrontyr would only get the extremely fast FTL technology they're seen having in the War in Heaven and in 40k after they made their pact with the C'tan and became the Necrons (remember that the C'tan gave the Necrons loads of new, hyper-advanced technologies so they could better fight the Old Ones). This is why the Old Ones' mobility advantage was non-existent during the War in Heaven.
GW:
*(Necron Lore implies Necrons are OP)*
GW: "We've got to write our way out of this!"
I love the skalagrim mod for battlefleet, it fixes quite a few of the issues with the necrons
What does the mod do?
They are godlike , but in these games there has to be balance
Suggestion: what happens if a genestealer cultist falls to chaos? Or vice versa?
iain rickwood that’s a really good question... Tyranids have no souls, so it has been stated that Chaos really don’t like fighting them because their gods, especially Korn, gets nothing out of it. That being said, biologically, I don’t see chaos having much effect either. The source of their power, as their name suggests, randomly mutates those physically effected by their influence.
But again, Tyranid’s are based on rapid evolution and adaptations. Any mutations would either a) Help the tyranids or b) have no effect as they’ll just adapt out of it.
Tyranids on the other hand, turn everything into raw biomass. So long as the ship is run by Chaos warriors and not daemons, Chaos is as fucked as everyone else.
You made a couple mistakes in the video. You said that Necrons are not as agile as the Eldar, and that leading fire is advised. This is false, the Necrons are much faster and more agile than the Eldar, represented on table top as the Eldar getting 2 turns max and the Necrons getting 7 max, as well as the Necrons possessing the fastest TT Ships by far and the ability of their battleships to run down Eldar escorts with ID. Lorewise inertialess drives are literal, and they have no stop/turntimes, it’s instant. They use this to great effect in 6e, when during the Orpheus war they fly at the imperial fleet,, fly past it, stop immediately, and then shoot said fleet in the back by instantly turning around. Anyways, on ftl, besides having access to the webway, which is faster than warp travel, phase out (instant), and ID (most sources say as faster, ex cross galaxy in blink of eye), the reason they had trouble with the old ones is because they actually didn’t have ftl until the second part of the war in heaven, which is mentioned in the codex as the sole reason they couldn’t solo them without the C’tan. Then they got it, and started curbstomping. In the newer lore (4e to current) boarding is also a terrible idea, beyond the lack of sensory info even once they start repairing and the absolute maze that is a ships interior (with places requiring phasing and teleporting) its really easy to get lost, even for veteran word bearers who live in the warp, and narrow coverless places are not where you want to meet a Necron, see the near death of the entire Minotaurs chapter to moderately damage a single ship. Also, you forgot the sepulcher and energy drain and the three obscure ship types the my had pre beta (cartouche from book of nemesis, Kopesh from fantasy flight games reaper from BFG magazine) making 8 total ship types but those are minor
On the WiH, you can tell the ships are designed for it. The lightning arks ignore holofields, so they are anti Eldar, Gauss Particle ships are similar, and the starpulse would be great against swarms (orks).
Games workshop sucks at balacing and the lore is not reflected on the tabletop games.
Necron lore is by far the most broken. If you make a sci-fi race that can solo Necrons at 100%. You need to tone down your sci-fi race. Necrons are the fastest strongest and highest damage dealing with the only thing they "lack" in is numbers which has proven time and time again it doesn't matter to them. I love and hate them because they are technically "All Tech" VS Race's who use "magic". But I hate them because they are so obnoxiously OP.
Do Necrons construct new ships or are they "just" activating what is stored before the hibernation?
@@phreakazoith2237 They can do both. They have many ships stored away, but there are numerous mentions of them building new ones (ex: thaszar building the biggest fleet since the war in heaven (meaning its bigger than the imperial fleet during the heresy) and the fact scarabs can eat a hive city and produce a warfleet from it).
Sandor Grau-Fay it makes sense. Necrons are narratively supposed to be the BIG bad of the 40k universe, being the overwhelming force that nearly wiped out the oldest and most powerful race of space wizards. Eldar still collectively shit themselves thinking about the War in Heaven, which in itself predates The Chaos Gods themselves, because the races hadn’t been created yet. Unfortunately GW are superiorly biased towards certain races *cough cough* Chaos *cough cough* and kinda handicapped the Necrons by complicating their awakening process. So even though they win almost every fucking fight they have, they’re very few and far between. Most of the Necrons are either still asleep and/or are in such disrepair they can’t wake up effectively. So instead of being the Entropy of the universe, they’re really just the boogie men of 40k. And that’s all they’ll probably ever be.
Necron stuff is awesome, love each and every bit of lore about the Egyptian robo-zombies :D
QUESTION 1: Do You think it's possible that some survivors of Interex or Faash civilisation still alive in 40k? Are they hidden somewhere, or maybe some of their remnants are cruizing through the space-time with one of the Lost Primarchs ? Or maybe they were all exterminated? (hope not).
Necrons are soo cool!
WE ARE THE NECRONS. LOWER YOUR SHEILDS AND SURRENDER YOUR SHIPS. WE ARE LEGION. WE ARE RELENTLESS. EXPECT US.
Suggestion: Tyranid Ships.
Great video. I like hearing about the space craft of 40k
Necron is my second favorite Race in Warhammer 40k
Favorite....¿
End of the day... Borg always win
Yup, they're literally 40k Borg.
@@JeanLucCaptain other than being nothing like the borg
@@the_dropbear4392 I mean they are actually like Borg once civilization falls they become stronger and strong and related is that they both steal people's lives and turn against them and both dangerous
Well jesus if they made the Necron ships TRUE then no one would want to play anything other than them cause its an instant win. Its just a mechanic adjusted for balance.
Same for Eldar in all likelihood.
@@JeanLucCaptain Necron ships are more powerful
@@the_dropbear4392 True i mean they were built to fight the OLD ONES.
Quadruple the enemies Fleet and give me one Necron ship.
Still not accurate but it would serve the Necrons some Justice.
:3
Yeah but that seizure inducing Necron flyer model!
Can Necron ships destroy worlds? The link he promised at the end of the video aren't there...
""""Balanced""""
Oh sweet sm giveaway tomorrow, i hope its a dreadnought!
You should do a video about Bio-Titans.
I wonder what powers Necron ships and vehicles. Imperium and Orks use nuclear fusion, Eldar constructs are powered by psychic energy and Tau use dark matter nova reactors, but what kind of power source do Necrons use?
Given the descriptions of recharging by consuming stars and then using up this energy pretty fast, I suspect some kind of monopole-catalyzed nuclear fusion, performed in pocket dimension, or something like this.
Awesome video keep it up.
You guys are taking it to the next level with the production and writing. Keep it up, I've really appreciated the extra effort you guys have put in over the last few months.
QUESTION 2 : Hi, any idea what will happened if a stray bolt shell flying though the battlefield would hit one of those awesome looking energy handling tubes of Necron Gauss weapons?
Possible explanation would be:
a) The tube cracks/explodes and all hell and suffering is unleashed from that gauss weapon;
b) Necron were no fools, during the designing of their gauss weaponary they shielded the tube heavily and explosion of that stray bolt didn't do any harm.
c) The weapon is mildly damaged, but overall is still funtional, yet overtime somewhat it looses efficiency with the particle ripping?
Probably B
I would say the combination of A and C.
The Adeptus Mechanicus have tried to replicate Gauss weaponry only for the weapon to unmake itself and everything around it including the user.
And as a result the Adeptus Mechanicus have concluded that Gauss weaponry is a paradox which they can't solve. :3
I like playing imperium because phukkin SPACE MARINES. BUT, if I want to win, I play necrons
The Necrontyr lost to the old ones.
The Necrons did not, as the C'tan had upgraded their weapons, ships, and their flesh for the cost of their freedom and souls.
The old ones could travel instantaneously between planets, but when the Necrontyr became the Necrons they could too.
Time condensing might have been within the Arsenal of the Necrontyr, but not time travel until they became the Necrons, and it's still jealously being kept secret from the other Necrons by Orikan the Diviner.
That is the heavily summarised explanation of why Necron ships currently outpace all others in the universe.
P.S. The Necrons also have a real-time interactive map of the entire universe that could delete entire solar systems if you sneezed at it. :3
Space Pharohs Style is sweet.
Beack when necrons are necrontyr, their FTL-Capable spaceships are restricted on unmanned ones due to inertialess drive
suggestion: seizure warnings.
Suggestion: tyranids
Better suggestion: Chuck Norris.
Suggestion: Constantin Valdor
Suggestion: The Achilus Crusade
Where are these visuals from?
Suggestions : 40 fact about OMS giveaway
Outstanding video
My go to army just wish the had so more variety of weapons
Question: is there anyway at all to create new necrons? Or is there always a finite amount, and if so how many necrontyr were there before the war in heaven?
There are billions of necrons mostly are dormant. There were human necrons called pariahs but they are not canon anymore as i know. Ferrus Manus may become the first necron-human as his body was infested with necrodermis his body may be rebuilding itself in time replacing the missing parts with necrodermis.
They can, but generally don't. For example, Kelrantyr made a bunch of necrons based on historical figures who were long dead by the time of biotransference. Generally to increase numbers they just make war-constructs like tomb stalkers and serapteks.
They can create new ones, but since they weren't ever flesh they are looked down upon.
And of a Necrons body is so badly damaged that it has the phase out, and even then can't be repaired they create a new body and upload the necron to it, but it degrades the minds of the common soilder
Good video, keep it up guys !
Luv me some necrons in Gothic 2 pc Beta
Suggestion: necrons
Law of physics
Necron physics > space hell
If you want a laugh and perhaps a more lore accurate version of Necron power? Try Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption on Steam, there is a half finished mod and the Necrons are insane
Necrons do not know exactly who they are. On one side they are overpowered, superior... On the other hand they are a tide, extream numberers ...
nice video !!
U need to include epilepsy warnings
Suggestion: tau
For the Emperor!
propel with science !
Them going for a Borg look is kind of obvious. Aint there potential to go for something more unique?
They look nothing like the borg
The Necrons themself don't. They look like the Terminator's creepy sci fi Egyptian brethren.Agree. But their tech's look? Their ships lighting and surfaces? Nano healing, a collective of automatons synapsed together by leaders with remains of individuality...
nachos
necrons vs tau?
Necrons
Necrons would wipe the floor with the tau
Omg dude says pyrrhic like pyre what tf is wrong with him
Wow they are really really OP
Like how can you win against something that strong... oh wait with the Emperor will of course
WH40K really suffers from wanting to have all those SF-super threats to spice things up, but having to balance them against each other in the games. The Eldar are "balanced" by having lost most of their super-science when their entire civilization died (Dark Eldar are just too nuts/degenerated), the T'au are super-young, Orks don't care and Humans have lost most of their ancient knowledge, too. And then there are the extragalactic Tyranids, the super-duper ancient Necron and literal space gods. If this wasn't lore for a game where every faction needs to have a chance of winning, Chaos, Necrons and Tyranids would just bulldoze over the entire galaxy and duke it out among themselves.
@@Libluini Last time I checked the Necrons would just bulldoze over the chaos, so that we just leave the Tyranids and the Necrons.
@@FluffyFailure0 and even then the tryanids would need a shot ton of hive fleets to rival a singular tomb worlds capabilities
@@definitelyaperson6334 That's true, but they're eventually going to come in numbers beyond imagining, according to lore.
@@FluffyFailure0 sadly yes as seen before the hive fleets come from all directions so it is very likely that they have harvested every galaxy except this one
Then again the necrons once they steam roll the rest of the galaxy would be able to make ships and replenish there numbers... in all seriousness it would be a never ending war
Suggestion: what happens if a genestealer cultist falls to chaos? Or vice versa?
