Have been running in the Cascadia since version 12. My go to trail shoe for anything up to 100km. Only don't use it when trails are really muddy, then I go to Inov8 X talon. Waiting on my 17 model from Brooks currently. They will be taking me to my first 100 mile finish hopefully!

Nice! My 16s took me to my first 50 mile recently. Will be using them for my first 100k next spring too

I've also been running the CAScadia since version 12. I still wear a pair of v13 as an everyday shoe. I've ran the Calderas but find them way too high for a trail shoe. On road I run Asics Nimbus Lite and Brooks Glycerin. My only complaint about the Cascadia is the weight so it's good to see them in a slightly lighter version. I'm torn between the Salomon Sense Ride 5 and the Cascadia 17. Would love to know what others think!

Very nice review Fordy, thx!Looking for a more stable and cushioned Trailrunning shoe than my Torrent 2. Was thinking about the Asics gel Trabuco 11, or the Brooks Cascadia 17 any suggestions?

I got the Cascadia 16 in wide as most shoes don’t work for me. I love them, but they started to wear through at the bend of the foot in around 450 km. But they are super-supportive and surprisingly springy. 17 should be even better.

Looking into getting this shoe for Spartan racing, my main concern is how well it sheds water. Does anyone know how it handles this? also any other shoe recommendations are welcome

My issue with C16 was the toebox, blistered on my big toe on a first run of 7+ miles, had to return. Any issues in the toebox for you? Or is it typical narrow Brooks? Great review, too bad about the weight, but... it's a solid shoe.

i thought i was the only one. It blistered on my fifth/small toe.

    • @fabiocortesi2338

I also find the toe box a bit narrow, I get blister on my pinkie. It has a similar width than the Adrenaline, but all the plastic in the bumper make it very unforgiving. I like the right so I am thinking about going half a size up, as the wide version is quite difficult to find...

I have the Cascadia version 16 GTX Gore -tex ($160)and they are superb winter trail runners. The traction is like knobby tires on a truck. Ice snow rain streams puddles, Nothing can stop you! I also hike mountains in them. I would not run road races in them. I would not run cross country races either , They are bulky built like tank all terrain shoes. Built for protection and traction …NOT Built for Speed! I own 2 pairs and use them alot for my off road adventures. One of my favs

Have you tried many of the North Face trail shoes? I’ve been using the Vectiv Enduris 3 to train for my first trail race and really like them.
