After treating numerous schizophrenic patients I learned that they're super protective of their voices. They're hard to talk to because the voices distract them so much and it's hard to have a linear conversation. They acknowledge voices after being on meds for a while. It was always this way. Btw I treated patients for over 20 yrs.

I have voices , a couple , they drive me nuts. (When I don’t have background noise.. why I’m listening to this kind of stuff while I’m at work) But they only bully me and don’t tell me to hurt people/things Only myself. I don’t let the intrusive thoughts in though, I think maybe because when doing anything in life one of my voices is constantly telling me the consequences of my actions and how I will disappoint my parents (this voice has bin with me since I was a kid)

I am a young pre schizophrenic patient who can’t be diagnosed with it yet so I am diagnosed with psychosis. I have been hearing voices since I was 14, I am 18 now and they settled just a little bit with 2 meds I take for it. It’s a struggle because not only do I hear things I see things and feel things that are not there. Being someone young with a lifelong disorder like this possibly from trauma, it’s painful because nothing blocks it out but music, humming or a major distraction. My voices did lead up to a misdemeanor assault charge which I got dropped and I am glad, I didn’t mean for the girl to get hurt but at the same time I urge to fullfil the voices in my head’s instructions. I have 3 voices, Sally, The man in the dark and Bill. Let’s say Sally is more nice.

He ain’t schizophrenic. My uncle was, and there’s no comparison. My uncle would tell a story and you’d never get the follow up of “it might sound crazy, but…”, because a legit one is not trying to rationalize anything, and there’s nothing crazy, to them, about what they’re telling you- it’s all real, as far as they’re concerned.

@@tomd4748and this is how you know who is a medical professional and who just says shit to say it. Schizophrenia shows itself in different ways. It depends on the person. With him I’m a little on the fence because I just don’t know enough about schizophrenia to be sure just from this interview alone. I would need to hear from drs and family/friends in court, I think, to decide.
A case I watched though that seemed clear to me, experts seemed to believe him and loved ones backed his stories, was the Waffle House Shooting which was committed by Travis Reinking. He seemed like someone I would vote for hospitalization instead of prison, if I were on his jury, but he was found to be sane. For the people in the comments who understand schizophrenia better and have more experience with someone suffering from it, did you watch that trial or follow the story at all? What did you think of his case?

I was even more convinced with how often he used “supposedly” referring to what he actually believed when the voices told him what to do. If you take an order seriously enough to act on it, I’d expect someone to say, “I had to because he was evil.” as opposed to “Well, supposedly he was evil.” Just my thoughts. You hit the nail on the head. There are many families who recognize family members have severe mental illness and might harm themselves or others, but they aren't able to get them 'help' until after they do something to themselves or others. Even though they know they are a high risk, baker acts only keep people locked up for so long and there are limited resources to help severely mentally ill people. Unfortunately many of them end up homeless or in jail because they are so unstable they can't function in society.
I do think he is very mentally ill and is being honest about his thoughts and mindset that night. He seems very mentally ill and genuinely so. His talk about being spiritually motivated to kill them because they were evil devils is not sane.
I wish he would have been able to get help before killing people. There needs to be more help available.

Your insurance pretty much dictates how long the stay is. Not right. Hate to say it but there's a lot of people who seem to be jumping on the bandwagon claiming anxiety, ptsd, depression. Ive talked to a lot of nurses in my stays and been asked to help nursing students by letting them practice interviewing me. Id ask every one of them the same question at the end...how are you with dealing with frustrstion? And my mom has been a nurse as long as I've known her and my ex-fiance is a board certified psych rn and they were always telling me how awful it is. Especially in the psych prisons and jails. Plus my mom had front row seats to my war and it's bloodiest battles. I put her through a mothers worst nightmare more than once trying to escape my illnesses. There I go again, rambling. I hope you and yours are well and find ways to cope. I developed a wicked dark sense of humor as one way. Haha

    • @222killawhale2

You gotta understand it’s BOTH. In a way, it is premeditated murder but the target was not a specific person because he is too disorganized cognitively to have any sensical motive beyond the whole “spirit realm” thing. That doesn’t fully align with murder 1. Yes, he is expressly aware that it is wrong to kill people, he even shows remorse, but he was totally psychotic and being controlled by his voices, so he wasn’t thinking of them as humans at the time. You gotta understand that he repeats over and over what his voices were saying bc that’s how voices are, they say the same hateful, violent shit over and over every day, day and night without stop. Plus, does it sound to you like he is using his voices to excuse his crime? This dude is not even TRYING for an insanity plea, he’s straight up explaining what happened. Voices are extremely persuasive and once you give in to them the tiniest bit, they compel you to act more and more.

The thing with schizophrenia, is that you often fight the voices for a very long time when they tell you what to do, because you know it's violent, or it's wrong. They only finally give in, so to speak, after being beaten down by the voices, and what they're telling him to do. usually, they subside for a bit after the schizophrenic patient obeys them

He deserves to be in a mental hospital for criminals…… just so you know Black people suffer from mental illness just like y’all do….. it was far too easy for you to look pass mental illness and just he is a criminal and jail…… he clearly has schizophrenia….. and sadly sometimes they do commit crimes…. Stop dehumanizing Black people with mental illness when in the same breath if a white man does son heinous first thing you say is “he is mentally ill and deserves help” smh take a psychology class….. that ignorance you carry especially against Black people and mental health is what’s wrong in the world today…. Not a ounce of empathy or compassion for his mental illness just he Black he belong in jail…. They have hospitals for the mentally insane for a reason. They also have them for criminals…. Smh obtuse opinion who thinks mental Illness is based off race…. It isn’t…. And people in jail are not equipped to even handle people with mental illness….. Smfh

Instead of trying to get help for the voices in his head (as he calls them) he decided to kill someone to make them go away. Compare his interview to other interviews of true schizophrenics who kill people, it’s very different. He adds in things like “I know it’s wrong”, yes, it is, and you should be put in prison for it.

Most schizophrenics, get relief from the voices, after doing what they are told to do. I am most schizophrenic, are aware that when the voices are telling them to do violent things, that they are wrong. That's why a schizophrenic patient will fight for so long to not obey of the voices, but after they do, they are often granted peace for a while

He is a schizofrencic for sure. As a nurse we also had patients with shizophrenia, it's torture to them.
What really upsets me is that is it well known paranoid schizophrenic's can be extremely dangerous, believing the voices in their head. A kid with schizophrenia is a kid that needs care the rest of his life. Medication (which often helps a lot) but also parental supervision, no matter his age. Why his parents allowed him out wondering the streats is behond me.
These people are ticking timebombs, because the voices are very real and often telling these patients terrible stuff.
Why was he of meds, were his parents aware (he is very open about what he feels and hears) and why did they let him go on the streets with these ideas and without meds .
Totally different, but if you have a child with down syndrome you also know you he or she needs care and supervision the rest of their lives. Same with kids with paranoic schizophrenia. They are mentally challenged and NEED 24/7 care if not doing well and not meds. Neglectence by his parents....for sure. This could have been prevented if they had good communication and kept a close eye on him.
I feel extremely sorry for him, because when they understand what they did, they are heartbroken. I feel so so so sorry for the victim. May he rest in peace.
His parents....I don't feel a lt of sympathy for them. I hope he will be send to a good mental care institution for the rest of his life. Not jail, that would be terrible. He's not responsible legally for the murder. Poor guy, having these terrible voices in your head, day and night is terror.
just 1 question for us all....why did he cover his face with wearing a hoody. He was "doing something good, killing the devil". Running out the door, panicking....Those are the only doubts I have.
Most Schizophrenics don't hide their identity or run. They are convinced they did the right thing. Like the famous case of the incel in Canada, who drove a bus through crowd on the streets. He was so convinced he was not doing anything wrong. This guy immediatly did. I can't place that.

It was reported that parents were trying to get him help but they would only hold him for long. They kept being turned away.
The mental health system just like all our systems is only set up to help generate income and not to help. I hate that most of these patients don’t receive the help need until they do something heinous. It’s the same with law enforcement you can report someone threatening your life or stalking but nothing will be down until something happens. Reactive vs proactive

I was under the impression that true schizophrenics don’t need to say the phrase “the voices in my head”. The internal dialogue they hear is part of their day to day so it doesn’t dawn on them to point out they hear people. To continually call out and state “the voices told me to do this” might not be legit schizophrenia. I would also need to hear from people that knew him if he suffered with this condition prior to making judgement. (Edit). Yeah not believing it the more I watch. Just because it was a random strangers house means nothing if it’s regarding violent burglary.

    • @ubahfly5409
      @ubahfly5409 10 месяцев назад +10

That's not always the case. Those suffering from schizophrenia have varying degrees of insight into their condition, depending on severity, age, treatment, how long they've been experiencing symptoms, etc. They will cycle in & out of psychotic episodes where they may or may not be aware that their mind is playing tricks on them, but in either case they're unable to reason themselves out of it or think rationally at the time it's occurring. Even when they may appear to be speaking coherently, persistent delusions will be interfering w/ their ability think clearly & will feed into bizarre beliefs & behaviors as they struggle to integrate the voices & thoughts of the illness with the real material world & reconcile them w/ their preexisting worldview, education, religion, & relationships.
If left untreated (sometimes even w/ treatment) they'll eventually suffer a permanent break w/ reality & lose touch all together, but they can still be incredibly sick & disabled before that even happens.

Like what in the world makes you think that people don’t openly talk about their voices??? Have you ever even asked someone who hears voices what that’s like for them?
Also, what was burglarized??? Show me where he stole property from the victims. Pretty sure that never occurred. Just shush 🤫

There was no burglary though was there? He broke in, attacked them, left, parked somewhere out of sight in the woods, called his mom, then called 911 and told on himself. He never mentioned taking anything and neither did the detectives or the narrator. Did I just miss it?
The thing that makes me lean towards him possibly telling the truth is that he isn’t trying to say that his voices mean he should get away with it, just that his voices are what made him do it but that he also knew it was wrong in the end and so he turned himself in. He doesn’t seem to be asking the police to let him off the hook so he can go home and keep living his life, he tells them what happened, how and why and seems to want to be punished. That’s the way I understood things anyway.

But he never seems to even be sure if he stabbed the woman, did she get stabbed? Did she survive? I wish this channel brought more attention to the victims, he didn’t even tell us both of their names let alone whether or not they survived the attack. I like this channel from the several videos I’ve seen since I found it recently but I do wish he gave more background on the case and put more focus on the victims, even if it’s just an overview in the description box or a pinned comment or something. I don’t know. I’m pretty torn on this one. There are a lot of red flags in how he’s speaking and what he’s saying that make me feel he’s feigning this specific episode. That’s not to say he hasn’t had mental illness in the past, or even in the current - but to me thus feels like him using mental illness (possibly even his own battle with mental illness) as an excuse for what happened. Again, he very well could be suffering from mental issues - but I don’t believe it caused him to do what he did. I am leaning towards this being a case of “I know I have a history of mental issues, my family knows, everyone knows - I’m going to use that as a reason for my actions because I got caught”. The way he is describing things and saying things, it makes me feel like he HAS experienced some similar things, but he’s DESCRIBING something he didn’t experience in this situation. If that makes sense.

People will never understand what its like to hear voices. It is a mental condition i have dealt with for the past 3 years. Its really frightening and draining. It also interferes with your communication. The fact that he is fluently taking does make me question if he is reallt hearing voices.i wasnt able to commmunicate fluently until i started taking medication to quiet the voices. Before that i would constantly need people to repeat themselves. I had long pauses between words and phrases because i would be hearing someone talk to me in my head while im trying to hold a conversation with the person in front of me. It can be very debilitating. People often hear the voices of people they know. Its hard to explain what they say necause the voices are constantly changing and talking about different things. Its just a scary thing to go through.

It’s pretty stupid (and brave) to kick in a door with the intent of murdering somebody while so many Americans are smart enough to exercise their 2nd Amendment. That last kick to the door & then stepping over the threshold & into the home could be the very last thing you do here on Earth before you’re suddenly face to face with God.

I think it's interesting that the names were the same and he'd never met the family before in the house in the other City from where he lived. I don't tend to be superstitious but that story could almost convince me at least with that individual that he had something paranormal occur with himself. I believe that he believed in everything he said and I wish you had explained it like I think he saw things. Like when they were asking him did you realize it was a human you were killing taking a life and he said in a devil in human form. I would have elaborated and be like look guys I'm saying they had to me devil faces and scaly skin they did not look like anyting human that I was doing something to you got to understand that I did not see them as human they did not look human to me. I think you didn't know how to express what was going on and I don't know that in the same situation I would have done any better but in hindsight I think to really explain how out-of-body this thing was that like he felt an actual entity was acting on his very existence and it's not to say that it was but he believed it was and thought it was literally real as we see the sunrise and I think he probably was going through some kind of mental breakdown but like I said it's a little spooky how all that panned out. I'm not saying I believe in the devil stuff he was saying but it was a very unusual case I'll say that and it was a great story thank you for sharing that.

It'd be terrifying to be woken up as your front door's being kicked in, & then having a knife wielding maniac kick in your bedroom door, & immediately attack.

This is the scenario so called 'gun nuts' are prepared for and what people who make gun laws say you don't need to worry about. Biden thinks you should 'fire two blasts' into the air with a double barrel shotgun to deter home invasions.
