  • Overthinking is a common problem. Our mind helps us solve problems. However, without supervision, without our observation, the mind will continue to think and think to solve a problem that it may have no control over in this moment. The mind notices discomfort in the body, or notices a problem causing unease, and to help ‘solve’ the stress it keeps running. Over time, our mind develops a habit of overthinking causing a loop reaction of stress and thinking. The experience of stress leads the mind to think, and the constant thinking leads to stress.
We can stop overthinking by learning about this stress loop, the role of the nervous system and its relationship with the mind, and by learning to accept what we don’t have control over and instead, focus on things we can control. We can also stop overthinking by developing our muscle to be ‘more present’. When we are more present, can observe our internal experiences, we find ourselves with greater inner peace.
