Since I started watching shug a year ago or so, My friends have started to look at me weirdly everytime I’m repeating early.. EARLY!

Yea buddy, that logging road walk just past the "pond" you're going to walk on tomorrow killed us. I enjoyed that trail but not sure I'd do it a second time. We hiked North and camped by the pond. Murky but tasty waterish product. Enjoyed your cinema, looking forward to part two!
I strangely enjoyed the lonely road walk. The road where all go to dump their old furniture!

How do you get the OHM through the airport. Is it carry on? also, do you pack it as if it were ready, or do you pack it for the trail once you get to the beach there?
I pack it and stick it in a suitcase and check it in.

I want you to know, after years of watching your videos, I can't hear anyone say early without myself (hopefully in my head, but sometimes out loud) saying "EARLY?!?!". It gets some weird looks. Some of my friends know what I'm talking about. :) What's the origin of that anyway?
I also can't watch water boil without going into Karl's voice (again, usually in my head but sometimes out loud and scaring my wife) going "Mmmhmmm. That's a purty boil". You're the best man. I've been re-watching a lot of videos lately to get me motivated to get out there and get to camping more this year.

Dang it! I should’ve watched this video FIRST! I hiked the southern end of the trail up to the Copperhead shelter and back to my car. The Northern End is much more scenic. I’ll be going back for a 2nd round.

The planes you saw were harriers, soon to be replaced by the new F-35. And yeah, they all buzz around at all hours of the night. It's the sound of freedom!
Most folks on the trail hear more mosquitos than planes. They grow em big in that swamp.

I loved your video of the Neusiok Trail. I just did it my self two days ago. My first thru hike solo. For me it was challenging at my age. But I loved it and will keep on hiking.

If you are going to Uwharrie, probably you went through Fayetteville, but if you happen to go more northerly route and pass by Chapel Hill on I-40, then stop at Allen and Son BBQ at the exit for 86N - its the real stuff... and they have sweet potato pie for dessert!
We wanted to go there but was not on route. Next time!

I flew in Sunday and we went straight there. There was a line so we waited...so worth it! Best chocolate cake and banana pudding cake. Hickery had pound cake.
I love Linville Gorge area. Grew up down on Harkers Island about an hour from Morehead. We vacationed a lot in Pisgah national forest quite a bit.

Yay trial videos!! My boyfriend and I did our first overnight hike this weekend on part of the SHT, it was really short, but we are super over weight and doing it for weight loss. All inspired because of your videos!! we even met some fellow shug fans at the camp site we stayed at.

I wonder about those sleeves you are wearing at 08:20 are they to keep your joints warm and protected or in fact specially made so you can kneel in the sand without getting all sandy?
They are UV sleeves for protecting my arms from the sun. Had a melonama at my left elbow a few years ago. Also keep sweat from running in my hands.
Shug, you really took me down memory lane on this one. As a boy I lived outside of Goldsboro, and also lived for years on the coast near where you hiked. I miss the jets! Great video!

Nice to have good air support just in case. Tick reports from the Ozarks this year are worse than usual and they are normally very bad. Bamboozle the ticks if you can. Thanks again and so good to see you guys together again. Hope the M/K faired well through another dormant season. He may not be angry, but instead just weary of people trying to bleed him each Spring to make syrup. Peace.

Just took part of that trail last week. I camped near the shore. It was beautiful.
It sure was a different kinda trail.
