This whole album has been on heavy rotation for me, the last two weeks. His guitar work with Deerhoof, especially towards the end on Runners Four has made me a fan. I tried to get into The Curtains and maybe I’ll revisit that but this album is very excellent
He mostly played the bass on The Runners Four. So many excellent and weird basslines on that record. He also wrote a few of the songs, such as Odyssey and Lemon and Little Lemon.
You can sink or swim that’s what they say you should get from there to here Orbit the edge of a vortex Til the background disappears He was the first man I ever met He filled in every space Told me not to mumble There was anger in his face Those green eyes Those green eyes Look past me A fool lies, only a fool lies There is no need There is no need Do you have what I want Do you have what I want His dad wore Old Spice and he wore Brut We loved him naturally Making grilled cheese for dinner In a (???) by the sea Or in the desert burning out the lights The final moment before He was alone for all the good times til he stumbled through the door There’s no prize There’s no prize No fight to win On his side, maybe on his side I could have been I could have been Did he have what I want Do I know what that was If you see who I am Will you be who he was Will you be who he was
this is a lovely song, chris cohen's voice is unique and splendid, and the production is really brilliant. every sound is beautiful. that drum intro good enough to eat.
Dude....I love your stuff, is the video shot at Fairyland in Oakland? Not that you necessarily want it... but if you punched up your mixing and compression game without compromising your sound you could find yourself singing to a lotta people....super solid songwriting and arranging...just mix and master this songs existing tracks as is but make it more aggressive/punchy and your golden....Manly pre amps are great...crush the sound a little....go big/loud onto 2" tape then back to digital IMHO....great work keep going!!! love it!!!
If it was the 70s this guy would be HUGE
his vox sound like bossa nova/samba stuff to me. The chord changes go slightly in that direction a couple times in this one too. Love it.
i really like that this song doesnt shy away from the bass
My right ear definitely loved it
Chris Cohen makes music better than just about anyone around
When all else fails, I’ll listen to Chris Cohen
One of my favourite songs.
Such a peaceful voice perfect for the soul
This song gives such a sexy Mediterranean vibe. I’ve been stucked listening to it for 8 months straight and I can’t get over how great it is.
I will never stop listening to this daily. The whole vibe is just comforting.

Oh damn, he was on runners four? I guess I didn’t realize that, that’s one of my favorite of theirs for guitar work

@@theyrecousins The guitar work on that album is mostly John Dieterich! Cohen played the bass (which is almost equally amazing)
Have you gotten into Natural Dreamers?
Heard this in my car and had to pull over to do an emergency Shazaam. Love it so much.
Dude. I thought edit out was gonna be his hit for 2019. I am so glad im wrong. I love it
It's a hole in one! Can't wait for this new album.
can't get enough of this song!!
God speaks
Sounds like Kings of Convenience with a little bit of edge. I love it.
This guy never disappoints
this is gonna be a good year
Sure is better than the year after
@@MM-vs2et man, imagine i commented this in the beginning of 2020

Orbit the edge of a vortex
Til the background disappears
He was the first man I ever met
He filled in every space
Told me not to mumble
There was anger in his face
Those green eyes
Those green eyes
Look past me
A fool lies, only a fool lies
There is no need
There is no need
Do you have what I want
Do you have what I want
His dad wore Old Spice and he wore Brut
We loved him naturally
Making grilled cheese for dinner
In a (???) by the sea
Or in the desert burning out the lights
The final moment before
He was alone for all the good times
til he stumbled through the door
There’s no prize
There’s no prize
No fight to win
On his side, maybe on his side
I could have been
I could have been
Did he have what I want
Do I know what that was
If you see who I am
Will you be who he was
Will you be who he was

Why such a good music is nowadays underrated? How is it possible that Lizzo is better than this? That's insane.
No need to diss Lizzo
@@Hal9000izewe can diss her now that we know she abuses & sexually harasses her backup dancers
@@justingreen575 Indeed
anyone know the chords?
a hallmark of chris cohen songs is that they sound simple but it's impossible to figure out wtf the chords are
