- About time I did some Donovan, eh?
Here's my take on this psychedelic classic, drowning in fuzzed-out guitars and accompanied by a lot of flashing colors to make up for my lack of camerawork skills. This is also my first recording to use an Omni Master stage, which will hopefully allow it sound pretty good even when it's not on headphones.
The colors, man...
I was but a wee lad when this brilliant song from Donovan was unleashed on the radio air waves. 1968, what a year. MLK and RFK murdered. Olympics in Mexico City, preceded by a massacre. Older kids in my neighborhood went to Vietnam. Some didn't come back. It was crazy, but the music was grand. Great cover!
Stephen Martinez don't forget about the zodiac killer!!
An awful time, yet amazing time to live
Things haven’t changed much except we have more killing an no one being punished for it , along with a POS president who can’t wipe his own b- t t because he can’t find it.
You should really cover some Jefferson Airplane. You're voice would really fit their songs
I second this
White Rabbit
ought to be easy for you!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 old good shepherd..
Absolutely. And not to forget The Byrds.
Very nice tribute to a great legend Donavan
Great cover..thank you Mr Howard Wolowitz
Found this after watching the zodiac, im very impressed!
You're always so spot on. I loved it. I always liked Donovan's voice and his Zen infused songs. I like "Catch The Wind".
Your cover are superb love to watch ur cover numbers👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🙏🙏
This is fantastic! The lights are a great addition!
Still waiting on some Mudcrutch! 💘
One of my favorite songs of all time and you did it a great justice. That guitar man.
Always loved this song even now

Best cover of this classic so far
Wow. Well done! Love that have different outfits.

Outstanding! I love it. One of my favorite tunes ever. The drums are fantastic, as is the fuzzzzzzzzzz.
that sounds good
hey, hey that's the stuff right there! Big Donovan fan from the days back then. This one-man cover, exceptional!
Amazing!
well done you did Bonham justice here
Great improvisation of the sitar
Brilliant rendition...great video treatment as well, bravo!
Very stunning job!
Wow, dang good cover version!
Great rendition! This song has always puzzled me. Donovan was such a folkie - not really known for his hard-rock songs. Yet here we have this gentle song about some mystical character appearing to him in a dream...and the song is set to really heavy (and kind of out-of-place) drums and that wailing electric guitar. I wonder what they were going for here? I mean, great song and all...but a real mixed-message, genre-wise. Maybe it was Donovan's way of saying, "I don't WANT them to call me Mellow Yellow!!" Quite rightly!
What we didn't know back then was that Donovan...sweet, gentle, peace-and-love Donovan was hanging around with some pretty heavy musicians at the time, including the three guys (minus Robert Plant) who would soon form Led Zeppelin. Details are lost in the drug-infused haze of history, but it's definitely John Paul Jones on bass, it's p-r-o-b-a-b-l-y Jimmy Page on guitar, and it may or may not be John Bonham on the drums (it sounds like him). Memories vary and apparently there were few written records kept back then. "Have another toke, man. Don't worry about it, we'll keep track of who did what after the session ends." (Nowadays, nobody would so much as thump a tambourine without making sure they got liner-note credit and - more importantly - got paid for that single tambourine thump.)
When I was a kid growing up in the 60-70's this song was landmark/legend and rocked us to the core. We all marveled at how hard rock the lead guitar is. I'm not a musician, but any opinions about this lead guitar? I looked up the British guys name(no it wasn't Jimmy Page)
Is this the Zodiac singing ? Great !
sooooo good. Phantastic!!
Excelente, Bro!
Nice job! Love how you're doing these classics.
Good Job , WELL DONE "Kid" .... Great song and you did a great job covering it , I'm damn impressed
Have to subscribe this. Useful for life.
A big Donovan Fan right here! Your cover of Hurdy Gurdy Man is Far-Out and trippin' 👍
Man, you should cover some CSNY, byrds and David Crosby tunes. Ur doing an awesome work
Very creative. Great job!
what a great cover
Very impressive! Nice drumming too!
nice groove..
Kick ass cover of one of my favorite tunes. New fan....
I've listened to 2 or 3 covers you've done this morning after discovering this little gem. Hope to hell you are having a lucrative career in performing for damn shame if this is just a side hobby and not being shared with the masses.
Thank you man, I really appreciate it. At this point it's not my career but I'd like if it were
@@fireglo450music I have NEVER in my 58 years listened to a cover artist and spent the next 3 hours listening to everything I can find on here and followed you on Twitter. Seriously..you've blown my mind with your craft this morning. Wishing you one hell of a future with your gift. You have the chops for it along with an amazing talent playing these instruments. Congratulations on the college degree. I hope to be reading a Rolling Stones issue here in a few years how you were smart enough to get it as back up.
I love those guitar notes at :34 and 1:25 when you sing "songs of love" , higher notes, like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Not too shabby man!
WAY TOO COOL
Sweet cover, bro! And sick shades!!!
Dude this is way too cool 👏🏻 so authentic wow 🔥👏🏻
Brillant !!!! Love Donovan, you have his voice nailed perfectly. When will you be making more videos ? Soon i hope !!!
Great, I have seen Donovan preform twice, Your rendition would make him feel Proud...!
Awesome, Howard Wolowitz ;)
Yeeeah so good man! Magnifique! 👌👍
excellent
Great drums very impressive.
V nice 👍🏻, you are so talented ! For those who haven’t tried any instrument yet - it is so difficult to master 4 so well and make a video with all combined is another talent within itself.
Your black Casino is class, never seen one like that
wow, very well done!
i enjoyed it very much
This was so good. You have the best music taste.
I enjoy the psychedelic song and effects 😮
multi talented!! :D
Great cover!
10 seconds in I already knew I would like your Account
Great version! Well done!
Great to see the Fab Four back together and doing a rare cover. Ringo sure plays a lot more fills than he used to though...
YES!!!
Groovy
Dead on! What are you using for a fuzz pedal?
Thanks man, it's an EHX Satisfaction fuzz cranked way up
Very cool! And very odd, but odd works for this one. I like what you did with the video.
Really fine job, man! Years ago (when this song came out) it was much harder to do a quartet with one guy. In fact we had to have four guys or run real fast between cameras. Nice job!
Looooveee it! 💜
You looked like Davy Jones for a quick second lol great cover man! I love when people around my age like the same music as I do ✌🏻
Great version . if I had to pick one musiciian from my life , itd have to be Donovan , I lived thru the release in December 1967, of "A Gift From a Flower to a Garden" album . It's still my fave Donovan work . Was his masterpiece .
I saw Donovan live Miami around 1969 And then Bought a 12 string
wow your good!
Time for another live feed man
dla mnie rewelacja
You look like Roger McGuinn dude! Great cover!
cool cover
Cooooool
Adoro essa música👍
Wish we could do a collaboration someday!
Completely cool! What are you using for the fuzz effect?
zodiac killer's theme
Total acid flashback
Fantastic.. masterfully done. But its the same person right? Congrats you almost surpassed the original im blown away
i love you
great
hahaha
Esse foi muito louco, queremos Mutantes!
Man this is insane, any chance I could use it in my short film? I'd give full credit.
Sure, go for it!
🇬🇧Jimmy Page🎸 on guitars & 🇬🇧Jon Bonham🥁 on percussions.
Loved the guitar solo , but what I’d like if you could have some other musicians in playing live. Not in a gig where the sound is poor, but in your room. I’d love that
this is unbelievable mate, do you think i could use this in a video tribute to david fincher?
Sure, go ahead! Thanks!
Classic Rock Kid cheers man ill credit and link you!
I really liked it but just wanted the split screen gone at times and a close up of your guitar solo.
Would love to play this in the dance break of my show Lunch Therapy. Let me know if that'd be okay! #cultofthehummingbird
Sure, go for it!
@@fireglo450music thanks!
Is he Steven Van Zandt's son?
The drums you filmed weren't used in the audio recording? Haha, just noticing some of those fills didnt make it in.
Awesome cover, man you got style!
Have you ever seen Zodiac 2008?
What fuzz are you using?
This was done with an EHX Satisfaction
Did you do that intro with your voice? That was sick af, I've been listening to this song off and on for the past few days, trying to figure it out.
Thanks! It's not a vocal trick really, I applied a heavy tremolo to the track in post
@@fireglo450music ah cool, that sounds sick. Do you think it's possible with just vocals doing that trick? That would be sick, but I'm not familiar with singing stuff
@@aryanyeoh2606 certainly someone out there is able to do it, I'm not really skilled in actual vocal techniques
Howard Wolowitz ?
this is Zodiac speaking
cool, Kid
