    Classix Nouveaux were a great act and deserve more respect from the music world. They were both innovative and energetic, but just didn't have the adequate support from their publisher/distributer. It's possible that egos would break up the band anyway, but they should have been encouraged to go on for a few more albums, and properly marketed too.

      Difficult to believe they came out with Tin Drum only a couple of years after this.

Vreemd. 😳

    These guys played LA in 1978. They may have influenced the whole LA Hair Band genre by accident.

    I love this song but it may "borrow" from John Lennon and Elton John's "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" and Sly Stone's "Take You Higher " ..
    A little bit .. though I could be wrong.

    Great song but the wrong version! The re-recorded version from the Assemblage album is much better.

    • @mariodriessen9740
      @mariodriessen9740 4 года назад +2

      I'm not sure if this is the version you mean, but they did another version of this song on the same program (and on the same day). I know, because I will always remember the day I saw it when it was broadcasted and it made such a huge impression on me for many reasons. And some of the musical details that spoke to me are not on this recording. I miss the intro, David sang differently and sounds were just missing. And (very important) the chorus was sung rhythmically different.
      I just found the footage of that other performance. Watch this:

    Q: Who did their hair? Was it all DIY jobs, or was there genius hairdresser in London who was able to give pop stars such unique styles?

      As far as I know David (singer) did his and Steve’s hair(drummer) I’m not sure about the other members but I know David did his own and Steve’s hair.

      @@dm.ackermann8499 Wow, how do you know? Where/how would a (teenage?) boy learn such advanced (?) hairdressing skills? We're talking bleaching/colouring.. as well as the (iconic) cut itself.(I'd be too paranoid of f**king things up w a DIY job - especially since the look of the band was so important.)

      Because they had the confidence to do their own hair and make up and probably little money to pay at the time .
      The Amateur look was probably part of the image by accident Tin Drum is more refined
