Basically: Since Spec wants to escape the town he destroys Phoebe’s necklace since it’s the only thing that can get rid of the magic shield on the town. However, it was also the only thing keeping Cerberus away. (The big doggo) So After Spec destroys the necklace he realizes that he just screwed up

Theory: ok so that big green guy was beaten in a battle and so Phoebe locked them in the locket that she wears and since Spec smashed it the monster was let loose. :)

I think that Phoebe or some ancestors sealed away Cerberus, and Phoebe then found the Amulet, which seals it away. Then Spec and his smug ass smile comes along and breaks it, releasing Cerberus.
