11 min in, and we hit 2 of my favorites already:
- Dusty’s belly laugh
- The unofficial segment, “Nate’s Weekly Movie Review”
Barely started and already Dusty has made a hilarious comment that was breezed over “…I’m still here” about older people making candy wrapper noise! Hilarious!
My grandpa hands out Werther’s Original at every church service. It’s one of many endearing memories I have of him. He’s the candy guy at church and he isn’t stingy. His candy of choice for years was Creme Savers but he had to find a new candy when they were discontinued in 2011. After 10 years, Creme Savers came back and my grandpa was gifted a large box of them with the hopes he would go back to handing out the Creme Savers. This didn’t happen… the Werther’s are here to stay. Let’s face it, Werther’s aren’t great, but when they make you think of someone you love, they taste a little better… a little.
Glad to have the whole team back together! I look forward to Wednesday every week. God Bless.
Awesome story and well said 😄 Got me craving some Creme Savers
I love how everyone has coasters and dusty's using an old napkin. He's having a good time.
Bing Bong seems like a great friend, the fact that he went out of his way to try to enjoy a cigar with Dusty is neat of him. However, unlike birthday candles you do not, in fact, blow on a cigar to achieve the desired outcome. Love the podcast fellas, really breaks up the monotony of my work day and keeps me laughing.
I am confused. Are they using “cigar” as a code word for smoking weed? As someone who smokes a cigar every few years, I know you’re not supposed to inhale it and it gives you a buzz sure, but enough to make you have to excuse yourself and pass out?
If "Hey bear" was the new greeting for folks I think it would be much more obvious when meeting folk in the wild.
And we would all be safer
@@silverowlthrifter 😂. I’m using it
Definitely! Little more dangerous though when the person doesn't know and thinks you just called them a bear. Haha!
We need a nateland poll for peanut vs. real m&ms because there’s no way Aaron’s theory is right that more people prefer peanut ones
The four of you talking about how much weight you’ve lost, then opening a giant peanut butter, potato chip, and chocolate “piece of candy” and eating it into the microphone ten minutes later is truly a golden moment in podcast history. Candy part 2 is a banger!
I think Breakfast Bates needs to get more credit for putting the talking points together! I know it's all a joke but you guys really busted his balls for everything today. How about Nate or Aaron put it together on the next one!
hey guys, I am a comic and a few months ago I had the privilege of being on my very first paid show opening at Paddy’s Pub in Fayetteville, NC and after the show a very nice couple said I reminded them of Nate with my delivery and stage presence. it meant the absolute world to be compared to a legend in the making.
Nice! 🙌🏻
yay Bates is back! I would pay top dollar to see Bates attempt to smoke a cigar 😂😂😂 I died when Dusty showed it 😂😂😂
Yes! Lol. Dusty as all "I wasnt gonna say anything, but..." and said all the things 😆
Dusty still isn't reading any of the ads. It's like he's still on probationary employment or something.
“Just three guys sittin’ around, chewin’ gum.” Great Seinfeld reference by Bilbo Baggins
Bates asking “You guys big into suckers?” gives me kidnapper trying to connect with youth vibes
"How's that cancer research?" 😂
One of my cats is named Bear. She has an assortment of other nicknames I typically call her (naturally) but everytime I see her now, I have to say Hey Bear just in case she's preparing to attack
I have a cat named bear too!
Bedtime Bates’ “you wake em up?” Comment made me laugh out loud at work around multiple coworkers. Gotta love the subtle humor, Batesy Boy is highly underrated
As a curious and obsessive 9 yr old, I took on the mystery of Tootsie Pop over the span of 3 days. I meticulously documented every lick and never actually put the sucker in my mouth to avoid sucking or biting it. The count was around 800, and my tongue was sore for days! RIP taste buds.
Aaron Weber got a really nice shout out today by Andrew Santino on the "Your Mom's House" podcast with Tom Segura. Go, Aaronland! Keep up the good work.
Yes! That was awesome!
“i thought we just saved you from ending badly” lmaaoooo i almost missed this but glad i kept listening. i burst out laughing
Still picking on Bates
HELLO FOLKS!
I’m so glad Dusty is here because he completes the Seinfeld cast:
Jerry - Nate
George - Backwash
Elaine - Aaron
Kramer - Dusty
Hello, folks!
I hope you are all well!
Nate, this podcast has proven your name's meaning to be true: this podcast has been a gift from God to me. It has been nice to hear friendly and familiar voices to hang out with and listen to every week. You have all been exactly what I needed after I moved from Montana to Wisconsin with only a few friends in WI right before the Covid shutdown.
Aaron, you and I are good examples of what it really means to have a college degree: moderate intelligence with not much besides a degree and debt. ;-) just kidding, be proud.
Dusty, you have been a wonderful addition to the crew. I didn't think the podcast needed anything else, but you have completely rounded out the group nicely and somehow made a great show greater.
Bahooski (Mike Burbiglia long pull/callback), glad you are back and congrats on fatherhood! It's challenging and rewarding. Just remember that you can't & won't be perfect, just TRY to be as good a dad and husband as possible, the effort is what kids need the most. (At least that's what I've seen in my few years as a teacher for high school, middle school, and preschool for some reason)
Candy 2 comments brought me the most frustration in the best possible way. I felt a good hard sneeze coming on, to the point of bracing myself for an accident because I was driving, but then was sneeze blocked by uncontrollable laughter. You guys are doing the right things and I look forward to my new Nateand episode every week. Keep it up, you make me smile, laugh, and feel good. Shout out to Bri Eddleston! She loves the strawberry hard candies and introduced me to Nateland, many thanks to the horse from Minot.
Love this podcast,
Nate Herset (pronounced like it's spelled, example: ...her set of dishes..)
Bates, feel free cut from this comment to your old man heart's content.
Episode ideas: Grammar vs. Linguistics, even though I'd bet most of you would be pro linguistic-even though that's the wrong side of this debate; when asked how you're doing, remember thatSuperman does good, we do well.
Montana and/or vigilantes; grizzly bears are a real threat, can research grizzly attacks both recent and the night of the grizzled August 13, 1967.
and sneezes: why do we sneeze, what makes people sneeze (what is stanudatory to you all), what happens to each of you that is different from others when you sneeze. It's a potentially weird/gross topic, but you all can make anything funny by reigning in the subject matter or letting it go off therails.
When is Dusty going to get to start reading ads? He’s earned it. It’s time. We’re having a good time
In the 2000s there was a competition with m&ms that if you got a bag with only green m&ms you won a million dollars. At the time I was living overseas with my family. My aunt and uncle came to visit, and I guess they assumed we couldn't get m&ms, so they brought us some. Not knowing anything about the competition my sister and mom ate a bag and were baffled that all the m&ms were green. They casually mentioned it later and my uncle started to majorly freak out. But we had thrown the bag out and the trash was already burned. My sister ate a million dollars worth of candy. 😎😅
Hilarious!
Fantastic editing this episode - Catching Aaron's face when Dusty asked if it was the pig or the pig's stomach that grew three times was perfect.
Nate telling Bates at the end of the podcast "I thought we just saved you from ending badly..." is the content I'm here for. Love the podcast. Stand-up question for you all. To you find yourself adjusting final jokes at the end of your set to be sure you don't "pull a Bates" at the end? Like, if a joke doesn't land with a crowd, do you have an alternate for the end of the set? Or if something kills harder than normal, will you finish the set early to end on a high note?
This podcast is great. When they started talking about how to best ride a seahorse, I almost drove off the rode I was laughing so hard. I am pretty sure I have heard my 3 granddaughters have this same conversation. Hilarious 😂
Poor Brian. He can't win. If he chooses to end with a story that's anti-climactic, he gets crap from Nate. But when he warns them about the ending, he gets crap. Maybe next time he should end on a completely random story and confuse them. That would be hilarious.. Love you all. Thanks for the laughs.
Nate…ease up on Breakfast!! Don’t make it uncomfortable!!!
I never thought I’d hear someone say “ the more dingle berries I eat the more I like them “
Aaron, the song you were thinking of is:
"There's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza"
I had this song stuck in my head once and decided to try and research it. I was sidetracked by finding the "Order of Bucket Menders"
I love Dusty on here. Just another regular hilarious guy. Nate and Dusty are my two favorite comics going right now. I really dig the fact Dusty isn't afraid to bring up the *conspiracy" stuff. Everything he refers to is right. We not crazy. (that's not what a crazy person would say)
I'm a mechanical engineer and I still have to agree with Nate and Dusty on the lollipop argument. Building a machine to standardize the licks doesn't make sense because there's actually more variables that are hard to control with a machine. For instance, you have to make sure that this licking machine has the right amount of moisture on the "tongue" all the time, and even that varies with a human because of salivation (looking forward to hearing Nate try to pronounce that). As an engineer, I think it makes far more sense, especially budget-wise, to conduct this experiment many times over to get a good average by using human test subjects.
Keep up the arguments fellas.
Standardizing the licks is the whole point of the experiment, I would imagine. Its not how many licks does it take “you” to get the center. Its how many licks period, so a agreed upon standard lick is necessary.
Mini M&Ms put into rice crispy bars are pretty great.
Classic Nate: "Does it taste like a blue?" I am dying. Loving this episode!!
Its always funny to me when Aaron tries explaining something to Nate and Dusty and just bails cause he knows they won't get it anyway. This episode's segment was explaining 3-D printing. He should have just pulled up a video though
Brian's face when splitting the oreo had my crying with laughter
Adding Dusty was the best move! He is hilarious and "we're having fun now."
Hey Nate and gang,
I was a server for many years and have eaten several pounds of left over food using 1 simple rule...
I assess the looks of the girl/woman eating. If I would walk up to said girl a bar, with a healthy buzz on, and make out with them without a thorough background check, then I eat the food left on their plate. Every bite. I figure I've already admitted to myself that I'm willing to exchange saliva with this human so even if she drooled into her pasta it doesn't matter.
The key was trying to factor in what drunk Ryan would be willing to kiss at a bar. That can really open the window for what edible.
Anyways, love the pod or cast or whatever the kids are calling it nowadays.
PS I'll see you at your show in toledo in August!
Dusty reminds me of "Mad" Mike Hughes, who crashed his homemade rocket trying to prove the Earth was flat. They're both obviously smart, but skeptical of widely accepted scientific facts. Fun fact: "Mad" Mike Hughes also set the world record for the farthest full size limousine ramp jump before he crashed and died in his homemade rocket. Be careful out there, Dusty!
Anytime I call my mom she answers the phone “ Hey Bear”. Thank you guys for forever changing the phone dynamic between my mother and me. I will now secretly question whether or not she is greeting me or putting potential nearby bears on notice that she is out.
Love the podcast! Thanks for being the best part of my work commute Wednesday’s.
Love everyone on this poddy woddy so much😭ps aaron that blue is def ur color 10/10
Imagining my granny coming through and knocking everyone's hats off. Didn't your grannies teach you not to wear hats indoors!?
Dusty looks like David Cross dressing up as Judah Friedlander.
Hello Folks!
Let’s goooo folks!
Listening to your mom's house and Andrew Santino was raving about Aaron. Glad to hear he's getting the recognition he deserves.
I have summited Everest, attended Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship and even survived not one, but two separate attacks from Great White sharks, but having my comment featured on the Nateland podcast twice is the highlight of my life….especially considering the first three things aren’t true. Love the show! Thanks for letting me be a tiny part of the Nateland Universe,
The “licks” tootsie pop conversation Micheal Scott’s head would’ve exploded with TWSS, also there is definitely another application for licking machines…Hey Bear!
There were two candies my great grandparents seemed to have an unlimited supply of, hard butterscotch candy in the golden wrapper and black licorice flavored Beech-Nut chewing gum. Two of the worst flavors a child will ever run into. I'll never forget first time I tasted black licorice chewing gum. I was dumbfounded that it was legal to classify black licorice as candy and I quickly learned the value of never taking candy from strangers. You, Bisquick, and the Gout Guy are great! Keep up the good work.
One of my dad's favorite flavors was black licorice. He faithfully collected all the black jelly beans that were gratefully given to him out of our Easter baskets. It's a generational thing.
Nate you are killing me. Why have you not watched the second season of Ted Lasso. You are missing out .....hands down best christmas episode of any tv show ever...Also I love candy too
I went to New Jersey Institute of Technology and was part of the honors college. One of the events was a small group lunch with a corporate executive. We were asked to introduce ourselves so I went first saying my name and that I play on the basketball team. I’ll never forget the guy sitting next to me who went next - he said his name and that he spends his time building robots to help assist stroke victims. I never felt so worthless. So I wanted to let you know some college kids are spending time on important projects vs the lollipop lick machine.
There's a place here in Knoxville called Hey Bear Cafe. Could never figure out how it got it's name - it's so random.
Settled on the scenario that naming the business with a casual salutation to the non-existent bears of suburban Knoxville was, perhaps due to English being a second language. Whenever I drive by Hey Bear, I think: " Good for them! Came to this country and made their American dream come true!"
Now, thanks to Nateland, the back story has shifted to the more likely "a couple of hikers opened a cafe". Not quite as inspiring as the original, but still... good for them. And good for Nateland for answering a question no one asked. Keep up the great work, Nate, Brambleberry, Aaron & Dusty!
Finally! After months and months, I caught up. My family and friends are tired of me talking about my “podcast” because they think I’m watching something scholarly or purposeful. I’ve tried to get them to watch it but have been rejected on many occasions. It’s so funny watching the older videos of y’all talking about COVID and thinking it would be over “in a couple months” or talking about things in the news that happened 2 years ago. Anyways I’ll be celebrating my 21st next year down in Nashville and I’m hoping to see Nate, Aaron, Dusty or Bacardi live at a show! Love ya folks
The way Brian kept asking if yall liked certain candies and would then give yall some, had a very "creepy uncle" vibe to it
Catching up on episodes! When bates brought up tootsie pops initially and dusty came back with “well three according to the owl” it sent me 😂 It was the funniest part of the episode for me and it went completely unacknowledged! I instantly remembered the commercial and appreciate the laugh and moment of nostalgia!
“I thought we just saved you from ending badly”. I burst out laughing on that one!
"So I guess I have to now leave the Theater to search for this Watchamacallit! 🍫OL🤣😂🤣🤣... I LOVE ME SOME NATE!!🤣
Sad to know there won't be a soda episode since half of the candy episode has been about drinks haha
Haha! It will be the next episode... where they mainly talk about candy and bears
@@delataylor Haha! That's so true!
I don't think Aaron realizes not everyones biggest concern is getting as full as possible. I've noticed multiple times on this podcast that his reasoning for liking something is "you feel like you're getting more". Easy big guy.
The machines should be used to demonstrate how fun science can be for middle schoolers. Like a “here’s how cool science can be”.
You have to know "Hey, Bear!" just took over for "let's go folks..." I think we all felt that happen. Love all you guys, your dynamic is so much fun! Bursitis, we missed you while you were away.
Brian: You have diet, right?
Nate: I, I, I have you covered.
Brian: But do you have regular?
Nate: No.
😂😂
Not sure what I find funnier. Nate asking if the blue Dr. Pepper zero, " tastes like a blue" or the closed captions thinking he said " tastes like a balloon "
Hey Bear! Loved that episode! Had no idea where it was going , but knew it’d be fun! Nate wandering down a mountain path and laconically warding off !!BEARS!! with an easygoing Hey Bear! makes me laugh whenever I think of it. Love listening to Nate, and still can’t believe we get to, every week!
“Pacey”, that is hilarious!
I wasn't looking forward to go to work in the morning before bed last night then I remembered when I wake up there'll b a new episode of Nateland!
One of "Lifes little extras"! I believe God gives us these extra joys because He loves us 🤍🙌🏻🌈✝️🌻
Sounds stupid
@@_sowhat_ yea... nate and crew give us this tho
@@tokoloshe42 They walk in the Light which allows them to make this exact content we all love so much🤗✝️🌈🌻🐢
@@_sowhat_ I think ur not giving the credit they deserve it's more they worked hard at a skill and it is paying off by creating such a great podcast
Arron killing it on the weight loss over there 💪
Put the bowl in the hoodie…not the popcorn only.
I have never fact checked anything from the pod, and I probably never will again, but upon Googling, I learned that the inventor of cotton candy actually sold it for 25 cents per box, not 25 dollars. Kind of takes the fun out of it. That's why I'll probably never fact check beefsteak again.
In last week’s podcast, I thought everyone was just super pumped up because they were all talking so fast. It wasn’t until today when the intro music started playing, I realized I accidentally tapped the speed up button at the bottom of the podcast. Was listening to last week’s podcast at 1.25x speed. 😅
Well, just for fun I listened to the “one-one” burger conversation in slow mo 1/2 speed. And.it.was.amazing.
Bill Nye is 100% a real scientist. He graduated from Cornell with a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube for Boeing airplanes. He is also a member of the Committee of Skeptical Inquiry, an organization that sounds like it would be right up Nate’s alley.
You know, I'm from sevierville, pigeon forge, gatlinburg TN
But I'm active duty military. I've been away from home for 4 years. However every Wednesday yall give me a little slice of home, I am unbelievably greatful for
I pastor the guy who created the swirl on top of a snicker. He also invented skittles. Stoke the recipe from some company in England and named it after a British pub game. He made the first batch of what we know as skittles in his kitchen here in Waco, TX. Now, every skittle in North America is made here.
I was so confused about you all talking about the Milky Way bar, cause it looked exactly like a Mars bar and the I realized the 49th parallel difference.... they are the same! Canada just gotta be different I guess, eh? Also, I'm only commenting to see how bad Nate struggles with the pronunciation of my last name....... ps it's Kree-see. I know, it's weird
Hey Bear!
The third and first base coaches also set infield and outfield defensive shifts and provide their players with information on who they will be facing. This information also includes arm strength of the other team. The third base coach has to gauge how strong of an arm the opposing outfielders have as well as how fast the runner is.
Best movie combo is box of raisinettes poured over hot popcorn!
The first 45 mins of Sandlot is great, once he loses that ball it just turns into a bunch of kids screaming and running. Don't get me wrong its a classic and I love it but next time you watch it tell me if I'm wrong lol . Great jobs fellas keep it up!
On Candy pt. 2 I heard Bill Nigh the Science guy mentioned. But when I was growing up that wasn't around yet. There was a science show called Mr. Wizard though. Just a generic old man and a kid doing science experiments. Sorry Aaron, as this was before your time, Nate, Bates, or Dusty recall Mr. Wizard?
If anyone was curious, it turns out “Hey Bear” also works for other large animals. I work as a sheriff’s deputy and just this evening, was dispatched to 5 loose cows in the road. When we arrived, 5 cows turned out to be over 60! As we began herding them down the road my first instinct was to call out, “Hey cow!” It certainly seemed to help and an hour later, we successfully escorted 60 bovine delinquents back to pasture. Thanks for the education tip, Nate! See you in October in Grand Rapids.
I have a chiropractic practice and see a lot of patients. Sometimes I run out of things to talk about so I have recently been recommending Nate’s stand up specials - had a patient come back today and say they loved it so I recommended this podcast. When asked what about I PROUDLY said; absolutely nothing
Love you guys keep up the good work!
Ps - no I am not the world record holding chiropractor - yet
I've smoked cigars several times with guys that started getting a little green behind the gills. So the story about Dusty and Brisket had me howling. The image of Brian trying to act casual as he excuses himself to go suffer in his Hotel Room is a hilarious visual. Dusty has been a great addition, and I'm glad Brian survived the virus... because he looks exactly like every picture of every person who did not.
Aaron is spot on with the blue Dr. pepper. I am usually not a fan of limited edition type drinks but this is a home run.
I found Nate and this podcast about 2 months before Dusty came on and I was so bummed when he was announced as a new co-host. Now… I love Dusty and the dynamic of everyone! So fantastic!! Happy to have Bicycle back and see the team back together 😃
New game…..guess how many times Nate is gonna say the word “calories” during the podcast
The fact that you guys had a huge debate about how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop cracks me up. According to the owl, the world may never know. After all these tests people have done the world still doesn’t know for sure.
Dingle Bearies: It’s Sugar is a store, there are many of them in myrtle beach. Found it surprising that Dusty didn’t know that, being from SC. Seems more like a novelty/funny packaging ploy for tourists. It’s also called “muddy bears”
The Tootsie Pop licking machine discussion reminds me of when I worked at an agricultural research station that did turfgrass research. Back in the late '90s they did a study of pesticides on golf courses and how licking the golf balls or putting the tees in your mouth might get the pesticides in the mouth. I think the licking machine would come in pretty handy here.
Did you know that the reason many people think mini m&m’s taste better is because of the difference in surface-area-to-volume ratio is different than normal m&m’s. Mini m&m’s have more candy coating surface area compared to actual chocolate. Love the podcast, glad rebates is back!
This was the worst episode ever…to listen to while falling asleep. While I should be drifting off to sleep, I’m now plotting how to get my hands on candy, snacks, and Diet Pepsi tomorrow. 8 hours until daylight and my hunt for deliciousness begins! Thanks for the laughs! Y’all are a huge bright spot in my week each Wednesday!
Hello Folks!
My 11 and 13-year-old sons recently studied the effects of RED#40 (the red dye in foods) on hummingbirds for a school project. They wanted everyone to know that although hummingbirds are attracted to the colour red, you should never dye hummingbird food. The red dye has been found to be carcinogenic and mutagenic on animals.
Just mix 4 parts water with 1 part white sugar. Thanks!
The licking machines to replace all the fluffer jobs
PLEASE do an episode dedicated to 3D printing! It's one of my favorite hobbies and I would LOVE to see Aaron try and explain it without really understanding it, Brian try to make it understandable, while Dusty and Nate either fall in love with it or destroy it.
The Reese’s with the chip is soooooo good!
PLEASE do an episode where Aaron proposes ideas for inventions and Nate rips them apart. Y'all did a bit of that in the Inventions episode and it had me doubled over in laughter.
I had to keep looking at the chapters listed on this episode because it says they’re supposed to be talking about candy but what I’m hearing is Nate’s ranting on soda’s or as we call it in the north, pop. Love the podcast!
I once wrote in a comment saying I zoned out while on the road while listening to this podcast and missed the explanation of something. It was so unbelievable to Nate… Today I’m on the road again and I zone out after dusty riding a seahorse is mentioned. I’m thinking to myself I never heard him say that. I clued back into the podcast with the guys debating how one would ride a seahorse in the ocean followed by I love Q-tips. Unreal!
I love how Aaron says Pepsi maybe started the lie about Mtn Dew, when Mtn Dew is a Pepsi product haha
Oh Henry and Baby Ruth are basically the same candy bar…
They are 3D printing houses. They are astronomically lower in price than traditional houses because it takes less time to build the houses.
