@@ChrisHouseHobby , I have the re release Gravedigger and working on it., while alot of the do-overs look good they just aren't the gd to me, I wish ssd still made the centered diffs.
Have had a ground pounder for two years plus years now and you wind up upgrading everything but the chassis. Servos are still good but the axles snap at the pumpkin pretty easy and the four links pop off very easy. Made new four links with revo ends and steel all thread with aluminum tube over the all thread and fixed that problem. Changed axles to scx10 aluminum housings. And steel driveshafts. Burned up stock esc on 2s lipo so changed to a hobbywing easy run and 12 turn 3300 kv motor and now finally don't have any problems. So yes the truck is "cheap" to start, but will be way up once built to last. My two cents. Also you have to change the pinion and spur gear cause the stock stripped pretty easy. The motor isn't connected to the trans so it flexes and strips gears easy. I use mod1, 11tooth pinion and 43 tooth spur. Stock shocks are really stiff and leak quickly. Changed those too. Wow that got long
It did get long.... but you bring up some good points and we are glad you shared em with us I had a ground pounder myself and I upgraded tons of stuff but it sure was fun in the end :) Keep having rc fun
I would go with axial since they're compatible and has a roll cage like a real monster truck that is pretty much legit to not second guess it..I will mod mine to make it mean to have tons of fun to share later. Cheers for the video!
Under 4 hundred bucks lol ground pounders like 2 hundred and fifty bucks and I just got the axial smt on sale for 199.99 what prices have you dreamed up.
This video is ancient at this point Annnnnnnnnnnddd we are in Canada so pricing is very volatile… lots of ups and downs. We do not mention pricing in modern videos And we are all dreamers when it comes to RC. Especially friendly Canadians
@@ChrisHouseHobby ahh gotcha, missed the Canadian part my bad, I'm thinking 🤔 my goodness I can buy 2 almost 3 for the prices your advertising 😅 Gotcha that makes more sense....
I had a first gen Ground Pounder. I hope they improved the axles and spur gear. The spur gear on mine must have been made from cheese. The axles broke on my just going off curbs... It was such an amazing looking truck though. I fixed the spur issue by going to 32p. But, the axles were why I sold mine... Have they addressed the axles?
I just mixed them up and many other too. It is the best thing you can do. Axial Trans with steel gears and AR60 axles, steel driveshafts and you can put a beast motor in the Ground Pounder.
Both need some upgrade to be decent, Groundpounder needs a stronger Chassis, Axle Braces, gears, SMT needs bigger tires, better servo and electronics, but I myself would have to get an SMT if I was adding another to my collection
I had to decide between these to chassis for my build n went with the ground pounder, got it for $90 with shipping n tax off eBay had to get it for that price👍👍👊👊📹📹
Yes sir uncle gus. just be prepared for a hot motor. Ideally we like 2s power on brushed rigs but that doesn't seem to stop many people lol thanks for the comment
I been running 4s (2-2s batteries thru a dual motor esc) at in my TXT2 with the stock silver cans. I have overhead fan for each motor and a blower fan in front of the endbells. They never get warm and been running it for almost 2 years.
mathew beckley. Good old Canadian exchange rate We pay a lot more for rc products north of the border... thanks for your comment though We hope you enjoy our videos
mathew beckley also look up my pg have my GP running 12t 550 with xl5 ESC on 2s LiPo and it's lots.of fun , don't get me wrong love axial but in Canada they are so expensive
ground pounder is absolute junk!!!!! I had one and could not keep gears in it for the life of me, shitty gears, shitty trans and shitty weak plastic, I sold mine for $50 bucks free shipping and was happy to see it go. everything about that truck sucked. axial will smoke just about any other brand on the market hands down.
bill cox hey bill Yeah the gears can be chewed up quick on high power I found that you can swap in mod 1 gears from a nitro 1/8 earthquake and the problem is fixed Just an FYI. Also the pinion needs changed to a mod 1 but easy enough (lots of ones available )
Awesome.
nice trucks 😍
I wish Axial would make a BIGFOOT 4×4×4 , I know Traxxas made one but only 2wd.
100%. Gravedigger is cool but it’s be done too many times. 4 wheel steer would be deadly !

Redcat Racing all day everyday!
Hell of a lot more hop parts available for Axial. You cant even get aluminum axal housings for the redcat.
Guess what we own the real ground pounder and am soil shock therapy monster trucks... ☺️

In the US the GP is going for only $239. I've been thinking about getting into rc mt racing. Now may be a good time.

Your Gunna be big someday :)
Decent trucks. If I was going to get a solid axle monster truck I'd get a MST MTX-1. It's an awesome truck for a decent price.

sounds like a fun build !
Are the AR60 axles a direct fit on the ground pounder?

I’ve seen too many RedCats broken, have they improved their quality?
Yes much better overall in that last few years
But remember they all break :)
As long as you are having fun that’s all that matters
You said 3s LiPo capable? on brushed motors?

Awesome video under 400 can how much U.S.
428 for the ground pounder?? Wow.
Is this in Canada , prices seem 35% rich over US prices.
Hammer Home yes sir we are in Canada.
This is a frequent question we get
Thanks for your reply
Max D I think but not sure is the only front engine truck at the moment
Love the video you say under 400 can how much U.S
Check you local hobby shop for some detail on us pricing
Thanks for watching
I own the ground pounder and the shocks suck, they stick pretty bad. So i put hpi savage shocks on it.
Hey Jesse yeah the ground pounder does perform better with an upgraded shock, savage shocks would be a kick butt upgrade, thanks for your comment :]
Swwwweeeeeet !! love it. RC fun for sure.
I know what one I would buy in a heartbeat and it is not named after a animal that's for sure! =)
those prices though... Nevermind just realized your in Canada.
