Nick, please do a tour of affluent black neighborhoods in the US. A lot of people don't know they exist but they do, in places like Prince George County in Maryland, Atlanta, and Windsor Hills, California. It would be refreshing - for everyone, I hope - to see a majority black neighborhood that isn't poverty and crime stricken.

@Espurrrxd yep what people don't understand the bigger omaha gets the worse its getting and omaha is growing fast..omaha will be the first city in the Midwest right behind Minneapolis to turn to hell just watch
You are right Darth. They are staying on top of it. The tree lined river bottoms are where the homeless set up , out of site.. Really a nice setting, almost like a state park. Then the winters end that. We also have a hard working homeless shelter trying their best to help.
Nebraska and Omaha is one of the most genuine place I’ve been in the U.S. The culture values the important things in life people, community, giving back, and caring for one another. Some call it boring but it’s simple with core values are carried with pride.
I relocated to Omaha from the East Coast in November 2021. I have been surprised by the scale of the urban renewal here, and by how dynamic the city is: new parks, new riverfront in 2023, new performing arts center, refurbished historic districts, a streetcar line in 2026... There are even talks of covering part of Interstate 480, which cuts right through the city! Lots of business money supporting these projects as well: Berkshire, Union Pacific, Mutual of Omaha, Kiewit...
Im from DC and I dont miss it one bit. Even my family are a bunch of uppity know it alls. Cant stand the fact that im armed. Im not welcomed there anymore. LOL and Im serious. I do wish Omahah had a subway system though. Over and under are the best train rides in the world.

Omaha was such a delight to visit! It's clean, traffic is non-existent, it's safe and the best part? Everyone we met was so friendly and chatty and welcoming! Plus we got to experience great food and drink. I visited on a whim with a friend and by the end of our trip, we named it our favorite US city. Thank you, Omaha!
I'm 41 and only been to Omaha once on our family's way to the Black Hills when I was a kid back in the 90's, but I remember the place being really nice. We stopped in Omaha for some chicken. That and Lincoln, NE. We were there during a invasion of locusts.
Is traffic non existent a relative statement? I’m coming from California the LA/San Diego I5 hectic bumper to bumper traffic all day everyday. This traffic drives me crazy can’t wait to get out of it.
Let me tell you. Im from SC born and raised and i came to Omaha because of military back in 2018 and i love this place. Currently stay in Papillion and i love it! I've always thought of Nebraska as the American dream. I like midwestern culture as they tend to keep ahold of traditional values like building families and having good worth ethic.
You probably won’t make it but end of July in Burwell, up north, they hold Nebraska’s Big Rodeo. If you enjoy the midwestern ideals Burwell is definitely that.

I'm from Omaha. This was a pretty accurate review. I think we do take the safety and security for granted. The young people always wanna move because we think it's boring but also almost everyone I know who leaves for a big place moved back
I think many move because of the perceived boredom, but end up doing the same things in their new city as they did in Omaha, except the cost of living is higher and its less safe, which is why so many move back.
@@pablopicaro7649I love the weather that is not boring. We don't have Minneapolis weather or the extreme hot weather of Florida, where the superficial people live
Nick, I appreciate that you are trying to spotlight Omaha. I was born and raised in Omaha. I also work for the City and some of your perspectives about Omaha, North Omaha in particular were negative and unappreciated. I was born in North Omaha and moved back there. It is a safe place. Contrary to what you alluded to about West Omaha, crime happens there just as much. I used to live out West. Media is more eager to perpetuate a narrative of an unsafe eastern half of Omaha. And we do have homeless problem. I was just at 108th and Q Street and saw a person sleeping on the street. Panhandling is out of control. The homeless have set up tents in some places. It’s ridiculous for Omaha.
Wow! This was an INCREDIBLE profile of Omaha. It's amazing that you put together such an accurate and thorough report after only a 2 day stay. I've lived here my whole life (age 31). I definitely realize how fortunate I am to live here. I was the same as the woman you interviewed in high school- couldn't wait to get out of here. But as I became an adult, I started to love Omaha. Every year I love it more. It's almost sad to hear that you think Omaha is in its perfect stage of growth right now because that makes me feel like it's just going to get more problematic from here.
I moved out of Omaha when I was 25 and 20 years later came back and lived for a few years. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there both times. If all you like to do is work and go out to eat it's a good place. Great restaurants
Great video! I have traveled extensively for work over the last 20 years and will say that Omaha truly is my favorite city after New Orleans (omg the food!!). Have lived here for 16 years and one thing you didn’t mention is the restaurant and food scene here are amazing for a relatively small town. That being said, both of my oldest have moved away to big cities in the last year (1 moved back already😂)
Here is one area that people forget, Omaha and Nebraska in general invests plenty in education, and is one of the top states with good education. Nebraska, along with Iowa and other neighboring northern midwestern states, have among the highest general IQ, compared to the South, except Texas. Omaha has a crime program called Omaha360, which has been effective in reducing crime and other cities are looking at Omaha for inspiration, including Kansas City. Mayor Jean Stothert has vowed to increase the wages and salary of police officers, so that they do a better job and get the respect they deserve to do their jobs. As long as Nebraska and Iowa, keep their familial values high, invest in education, support their law enforcement. We won't have crime. Also, we are entering in a period of correction across the country, many people have seen how poorly some places are being run and why; and which places have been doing a good job running their cities and states. P.S. I can't wait for the full Riverfront to open on Aug 18 of this year, it will be nice to have Heartland of America and Lewis and Clark Landing open, along with the Gene Leahy Mall.
I’ve lived in Omaha basically my whole life. I’m 31 and am so proud of this city. I love sharing it with others and appreciate when other see the good in it. ❤️ Thank you for speaking highly of it!
I am just the opposite. I couldn't wait to get out of there. No big trees, no clear running streams, no mountains, nowhere to hike for miles and miles without seeing other people. I moved back for a few years and had several bad experiences. Stolen car, fights in a restaurant over nothing, high taxes compared to where I had lived before, and a few other stories I won't go into. The day Omaha was in my rearview mirror was a good day. Glad you're happy there. You must live in West Omaha.
I have family that lives in the Omaha area. For a good-sized city, it is pretty nice. Medical services are very good there, too. The biggest downer for Omaha and Nebraska is, surprisingly, high taxes. Property and income taxes are pretty high. Aside from that, Nebraska is a great place, as is neighboring Kansas--some of the best people to be found anywhere. By the way, "Aksarben" is Nebraska spelled backwards.
@@jsjssgjsjsuwjxjsaksjxjxn lol that's not true at all. Florida low taxes, Texas low taxes, Utah low taxes, Idaho, washington etc all low tax burden states where everyone is moving. Meanwhile California, new York, Hawaii, Illinois etc all have high taxes and the middle class is leaving.

I was in Omaha the other month for the Berkshire AGM. I was positively surprised how lively the city is. You have nice areas with cool bars and lots of young people in downtown. And looking at the housing prices compared to my country (Germany) it is absolutely reasonable. If you live in a economic successful area such as Munich, Frankfurt or Düsseldorf, you pay around 1 million dollars for just a 4 room apartment. In Omaha you get quite a lot more for your money.
Just moved away from Omaha to phoenix after living there for 6 years. I miss it a lot and it’s such a great city. I’m so glad to see people finally appreciating the city and how amazing it is. Thanks for showing people how great this city really is.
I moved to Omaha 7 years ago. My company is one of the tech boom... or as we call it corporate welfare. Nebraska made a deal with companies to come in and build their business here tax-free for the next 10 plus years depending on how the agreement is. My company's coming to the end of our text free agreement and we are now downgrading and selling our building. There will be layoffs soon and I will move on with my family to the next state or wherever my job takes me. When I moved here, a lot of people tells me that I'm crazy to move into the state while they are looking to move out. Then again most of the people I interact with are in their 20s and 30s who said that. When I move out next year in the spring or summer. Omaha will have a special place in my heart. Will I move back? no but I will visit when I passed through. Thanks for doing an episode on Omaha.
I know I'm a Nebraska and very biased. But, like you I've been all over the country and it truly is an amazing place, and amazing people. I want to say thank you for pointing out all the things you did, I do honestly believe, compared to the rest of the country anyway. Hi Nick, I’m a foreigner who spent 7 weeks in Omaha last year. Your description was spot on, I agree completely with your very favorable review. And nicely done, Nick!
I live in Milwaukee and love it! But, I must say, Omaha looks really nice and, I like that pedestrian bridge connecting Omaha with Council Bluffs, so cool!!
I moved to Omaha from Minneapolis. Omaha is a nicer city. I noticed the friendliness of the people right away. The only thing I miss are the winter sports and the lakes. Oh well.
I grew up an hour north of Omaha in a really small town and the rest of the state thinks Omaha is a bunch of snooty assholes. I think Omaha has their fair share but generally good Midwestern people.
Best video ever Nick!! I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 35 years and then moved to Las Vegas for the past 12 years now which has turned into LA, CA 2.0!!! Kudos to you for your videos and to this channel!!! :)- I LOVE the lady that you "interviewed" with!!! She is a DOLL!!
Whatever you do do not get hurt at work in Nebraska. The injured are treated like trash. Workers rights are being targeted in the state. In 2021 they repealed several laws that helped protect employees from misconduct by employers.
Damn it. The secret is out now! I was hoping to own a condo in Midtown Crossing one day. I am sad that you didn't mention Runza after going through Omaha.
Interesting fact. Up until the 1980s South Omaha was largely a Czech and Polish enclave. The packing houses encouraged large scale emigration. Czechs and Poles, blacks from the South, and then Hispanics. They were always looking for relatively cheap labor, but they also encouraged the displacement of people. There have been movements to once again unionize the packing houses. Some companies do not treat their workers well. Some of the racial tensions in Omaha have links to the packing industry and how they treated people. Meth use and drug abuse do exist in Omaha, Lincoln, and many small towns. Still, Omaha has many wonderful people from all over the world! However, I miss the days when Lincoln was a sleepy college and railroad town. I grew up in Lincoln. My dad’s parents came from Czechoslovakia to South Omaha around 1900, and he grew up in South Omaha.

From WC, My brother did. his bit to help the growth of Omaha! He, his wife, and young son moved there in 1966! Two more sons that grew up married and proceeded to help populate Nebraska! So now on the third or fourth generation there is 35 of them, so as I said my brother and his family have done their best to increase the population of Omaha! I went out there to visit them five years ago from NE TN, and I was surprised it was so hilly, you don’t really show that in your video! It is very pretty and very clean! I talked to my brother today and he told me that Omaha had grown another 25to 30 blocks west since I was there!
I’ve lived in Omaha for seven years, and I am so happy here. Originally from south Louisiana, lived in LA and San Francisco and North Dakota, and have never loved a town like this. So grateful that the military brought us here!
I live outside of the US and grew up as a kid with a certain romantic image of it in my head. Reality over the years growing up, even with east coast visits, has unfortunately been a rude awakening but parts of Omaha do look a lot like I once imagined the USA as a whole would be. It does give some hope then.

Nick, you're a funny dude. I loved your review of Omaha, seemed like you did your homework. As a long time, Nebraskan and Omaha resident, I do share many of your views on the city. I think this city really benefits from having a cold season, it seems to keep the homeless off the streets, that and the police won't tolerate it. Hopefully the city government learns from the mess in California and adjusts laws and services to keep the city in the great condition it is in for a long time to come. Thanks for the video!!
Hey Nick, It was an awesome video, telling lots of to the point information about Omaha. I’m from Tajikistan far away from Omaha with a dream to come to this cool city to live and grow. I was looking for an accurate video telling more details about this city. You made the best video. My genuine appreciations to you man.

Hey brother, awesome video. Its great to see people give a spotlight to this city. I've been here for about 4 years now, here for school, and I work at the base just south of Omaha in Bellvue. I came from St. Louis and I can tell you that the crime here is almost non-existent compared to St. Louis. It is still there but in STL I would never walk around downtown at 3 in the morning alone and I'd be worried about where I parked my car. In Omaha(I go downtown a lot and stay out till 3 consistently) the worst I've witnessed is a small fight between 2 people and about 3 cop cars were on it under 30 seconds because a ton of cops hang out downtown. I love Omaha and this is where I intend to stay and start a family.
Such a great video to watch as a Nebraskan! Next time you’re here you should visit the Blackstone Strict, near Warren Buffets house. Coneflower creamery is a great ice cream shop!! Highly recommend.
I was born in Papillion. I've lived in Omaha most of my life. Fun fact, Bellevue is the oldest city in Nebraska. The waterway park is amazing. The Storm Chasers used to be right next to the Henry Doorley Zoo, then the zoo bought the property and they tore down the stadium. They actually have some of the old posts up in the parking lot. Worth checking out if you come back.
I lived in Omaha for about two years. If you ever come back, here are some recommendations for unique things to do (some of which you will likely think are incredibly weird): x Alpine Inn - Go at night so you can eat at the same time as the raccoons, it is a wilderness restaurant. x Squirrel Cage Jail - In Council Bluffs, some used to think it was haunted. x Hummel Park - Scary Park with a lot of legends about it (don't go at night) x Vala's Pumpkin Patch - Near Gretna, it is an entire Halloween theme park, it is THE BOMB.
Vala's Pumpkin Patch is like being in heaven during the fall.... I once bought a season pass and went there probably 15 times during their two-month season!

I've stayed in Omaha for 40 years before relocating to another state. This place has a lot of gems to to discover. My former pastor and I we're very effective in what is labeled "The Hood," in North Omaha. No matter how Omaha is viewed, you can yet raise a family in Omaha, enjoy family events, receive the proper education for your children, etc... Knowing a mass part of it's history, Omaha is one of the best places to reside.
I live in Papillion, south of Omaha. Nick, as a snarky outsider 😁, you did a nice job with your overview. Omaha has really benefited from the Heritage Foundation that is old money Berkshire stock. I'm from both the Bay Area and Greater LA. While I couldn't see myself living in Omaha due to the relative lack of culture and events (I'm saying this as a spoiled Californian), plus the mostly flat landscape, Omaha does have a lot going for it and it's kind of underrated. I've been there several times and the healthy ecomony there is obvious from the overal cleanliness of the place. It's also astonishingly affordable, and the foodie/coffee scene has gotten considerably better since my first visit in 2006. As for the traffic (as mentioned in the video), it's getting worse but it's still a lot less than most American cities...I-80 through town is the only major east-west freeway through the city, and as a result, even with up to 12 lanes, traffic does back up for a few hours per day.

@@rickerhart907 can I ask where more specifically? I am almost 25 and stuck in Omaha. Looking for Mountains myself but lots of options. Need help with suggestions.
Pacific Northwest. Mild and wet climate west of the Cascades. Very liberal if you are into politics. East of the Cascades it's cold and snowy in the winter and hot and dry in the summer. Trump country. Cost of living is cheaper east of the Cascades. Washington has no state income tax. Idaho is nice but they have a state income tax. Cost of living in the Intermountain West has skyrocketed, so if you're coming from Omaha, you might be in for a shock. Montana and Wyoming are fast becoming unaffordable. But all of them are better then being stuck in Omaha. The only thing I miss about Omaha is the original La Casa on Leavenworth Street.
As an Omaha native who has lived here my whole life: There are a lot of weird sweeping statements about the area that aren’t exactly accurate. Statements about politics and neighborhoods from someone who is traveling through the city? Like what was that brief glimpse into Council Bluffs? “They’re having a hard time right now” what does that even mean? Take most of what you see in this video with a grain of salt.
I just moved from Texas here for work and if the crime rises that will definitely concern me, but it is nothing like I thought it would be. It exceeded my expectations.
Have lived in Omaha for over 10 years. Moved from Phoenix and don’t regret at all. For a mid-sized city Omaha has great restaurants, music scene, and college sports (Creighton, UNO). Where we’re at (Aksarben/Elmwood Park) it feels kind of like a big small town.
As someone who just moved here (from south western Virginia) this city is actually really nice. I've been told by people who have lived here that "there's nothing to do here" but there's loads to do honestly. I'm comi g from a place where you'd have an hour drive before you got to a movie theater with more than 10 screens. Really I like it here a lot
OMAHA BORN AND RAISED HERE-- Omaha tried to push the section8 and housing agenda telling residents in the early 2000’s that once they get their vouchers you must choose a home 72nd street out west -- people that majority east of 72nd including North OMAHA, got upset about that and said they were moving them away from their families and friends. So OMAHA- took that back away…and allows vouchers anywhere in the city! Redlining has been illegal for a long time. I will definitely discuss Omaha with you if you ever would like!
And a lot of things have changed in downtown Omaha since this video was made. The downtown park with the waterway has been rebuilt (w/o the waterway☹, but it is much nicer.) Old buildings are being replaced by newer, larger buildings; the older buildings moving elsewhere into new ones, new apartment buildings going up by the dozen (it seems), and the Univ. of Nebr. Med Center expanding like crazy (Univ. of Nebr. at Omaha to a lesser extent.) There's also Creighton Univ., the Doorly Zoo, lots of western suburbs with scores of restaurants and shopping among them. We have great ethnic festivals and sporting events. Come to Omaha and see for yourself!
Thank you for the good review! I was born and raised here, but moved away and came back every time. I lived in Omaha for 7 years It is great things about Omaha and great people. The only bad thing in Nebraska is the winter. Winter is bone-chilling and very long.
I'm impressed at how much you learned in two days. You pretty much nailed how the city is laid out. The only argument I have currently, as someone who lives in Nebraska, is the "good place to retire" part. Property taxes are quite high, so for buying a home and coasting on retirement savings, it might not be for everyone. Also the weather is not pleasant. It's usually either too hot or too cold to enjoy the outdoors, so for older folks, if you don't want to retire in the cold, this isn't it.
The people who live in South O, are mostly old, retired and military or other public servants. The city council have been talking about improving north O, but they said that for years.
"7:03 look how is divided is here." I'm Mexican-American/Latino, but I think that's just a tradition balanced within the demography group. Even in California you don't see bunch of ethnic groups together in a celebration and party, but everyone is divided in their own space as well (Latino with Latino, white with Whites, Asians with other Asian, etc...). I saw it a lot in parks, festivals, and neighborhoods.
I grew up in Omaha; never saw a homeless person and nobody on the street ever asked me for money. This video is excellent; far above and beyond anything else I've watched about "The big O".
Well, I've been to Omaha a few times and you made it sound more exciting - never thought I'd watch a video about Omaha in a thousand million years so props to you. You're a helluva lot more interesting to listen to than the 'Oracle of Omaha,' Warren Buffet. I think Omaha WAS more interesting and cooler because you were there. I'll bet they heard you were coming and hurried up to finish that park right before you arrived. Aww, Jocelyn was a great guest - great dialog between u 2.
I do not care for any of those things, and I was born Ina city with mountains. This Nebraska landscape is beautiful. I care about things that matter, if I need to visit mountains I'll travel.
My Mom’s twin sister lived in York, Nebraska for long time. So I take her there to visit many times. Passing through Omaha on my way back home to Wisconsin. Nebraska is a nice state with nice people, but no pro sports teams. They do have the Cornhuskers who are good at women’s volleyball and bowling😁
I was born there and still love it. It being in the middle of nowhere is its biggest disadvantage. It’s got a lot going for it. The wind…oh yes. It can be really windy, any day of the year.
At the 23:37 and 24:19 mark, you ran a red light....what the...what the...LOL. Good thing Omaha police is not very draconian and sparsely populated within the city. Love Omaha and wouldn't mind living there.
The problem is that human life span hours are just too short. Year feels like days & decades feels like few years. Did someone pressed a forward button or what? 2023 is just down the line
Omaha has also been in the running for several professional sports teams recently. For example the NFL has tried a few times. But the only person who could afford a team there is buffet who has said no every time.
If I thought I could adjust to the snow, I'd move from So. Cal in a heartbeat. I've been here 67 years now, and getting tired of the place and what it's become. Omaha looks lovely. Thanks for the video.

Don't put us all in the same category you wouldn't want to be put in.
Well that was refreshing to see... no tents, boarded up houses, no trash blowing in the streets. Nice to see... keep it up Omaha for the future.

I heard about then putting a lid over 480! cant wait to see it.

As soon as those people have familys priorities change. Crime, schools, cost of living become tops in the list for wgat they look for

Enjoy it now
I moved out of Omaha when I was 25 and 20 years later came back and lived for a few years.
Am from Kenya ,I pray one day to visit there
I am just the opposite.
It's weird how high tax places are often where people want to move to ;)

I was in Omaha the other month for the Berkshire AGM. I was positively surprised how lively the city is. You have nice areas with cool bars and lots of young people in downtown. And looking at the housing prices compared to my country (Germany) it is absolutely reasonable. If you live in a economic successful area such as Munich, Frankfurt or Düsseldorf, you pay around 1 million dollars for just a 4 room apartment. In Omaha you get quite a lot more for your money.

Worth checking out if you come back.
I lived in Omaha for about two years.
If you ever come back, here are some recommendations for unique things to do (some of which you will likely think are incredibly weird):

x Squirrel Cage Jail - In Council Bluffs, some used to think it was haunted.
x Hummel Park - Scary Park with a lot of legends about it (don't go at night)
x Vala's Pumpkin Patch - Near Gretna, it is an entire Halloween theme park, it is THE BOMB.

Knowing a mass part of it's history, Omaha is one of the best places to reside.
We open doors for people! Literally! No matter what race, religion, or gender! “Thank you and welcome” are the most spoken words!
"We can't build homes fast enough."
Except for people with shitty political attitudes. Whatever that means. 🫤
Always a good day when you see a new video from Nick on RUclips. Hope you're doing well. Love your songs on Amazon music
I live in Papillion, south of Omaha. Nick, as a snarky outsider 😁, you did a nice job with your overview. Omaha has really benefited from the Heritage Foundation that is old money Berkshire stock. It is not liberal, but more centerist minded that has not embraced MAGA, unlike small town Nebraska politics.
It's liberal for Nebraska
@@NickJohnson absolutely, you can't pay me to live there because of the influx of liberals. I don't understand how people can't see it. Also I stayed downtown in a very old hotel many years ago and there was a shooting across the street at a nightclub. It was really wild, I got to watch the whole police chase the subject on foot.
@@NickJohnson That it is and I live in Papillion and work in Papillion. I consider Omaha a garbage can. I dont frequent the Old Market, I dont go to the Zoo and I dont go to Walmart because of the people there. Just something about those people that I dont like. For the most I have to excuse the zoo because most moms there are there for the animals when the rest are taking their kids to see the lgbtq animals. I do not play with lgbtq.
@@NickJohnson Why do you sound like a robot devoid of emotion ?
@@robertmason7553 They should put you in Zoo to show Omaha how a homophobic looks like.
maybe the worst state for taxes, tax your ss retirement, inheritance tax, property tax, tax, tax, tax
Do you atleast think the tax dollars are spent wisely?
My company's headquarters is in Omaha. I was sent there for a week last month. I was pretty impressed. I didn't think I'd like Omaha, but I did. I don't think I'd ever move there because this East Coast girl needs her beaches, but I enjoyed my visit and am looking forward to going back.
I’m in Iowa, about an hour from Omaha. You did a nice job depicting what the city is like. And though you only briefly touched on Council Bluffs, you’re right about that, too. Folks around here call it Counciltucky…
The Tuck
Eastern end gets nicer and the area around the Wabash Trail
Counciltucky, Arkanbluff !
What a great review... I took a look on Zillow and quickly realized Property Taxes look kinda high... 500K home is taxed at 8K a year. My big find in a great place to live is Grand Junction CO.... growing University town, low taxes, 4 seasons, vinyards, snow skiing, national monument and BLM public land for hiking and off roading...plus two rivers merge right in town...with float trips and fishing.... its really a cool place... home prices have nearly doubled in the last 10 years...but still affordable.
You did a really good job, I'm from Omaha born and raised. I moved to Houston 10 years ago. Omaha will always be home though.
I love living in Omaha! Born and raised here, raising my kiddos here. I agree with her 💯 on everything. Thanks for the great shout out. 😊
I am a current resident of omaha. and i love it.
Hey Nick.. Big Fan. Much love from Kenya 🇰🇪
North Omaha does not have the highest drug use. That would be west Omaha . I’m a retired Omaha cop
One of my Neighbors is a Retired Omaha police officer as well 🫡
@@darthvaldez999 what’s his or name?
Maybe, but north Omaha is the danger zone. There is no disputing that.
@@carlhaldeman420 danger for who? The majority of people who live north are not black. While there is poverty for sure there is danger throughout Omaha as well as beauty.
@@foxlife9366 So, this Nick guy doesn't really know what he's talking about, right? I mean, would you agree that he says things that are flat out wrong?
Believe me, Omaha is not flat. The rest of the state is pretty flat.
@@debmc2291 exactly drive from omaha to desmoines and tell me thats flat🤣 up down up down those hills
Stay in California
Don't look for much diversity.
Is that why California is a third world shole. California is a laughing stock. Ma diversity really has worked well, keep voting diversity and you may chase more people away 😂
I'm glad she said what she said about North Omaha. I'm from VA and i understand Malcom X is from Omaha. Not making excuses for anyone, but I mean.. redlining. I'm tired of the east coast. I live in NYC and am from Dinwiddie VA, i feel like everywhere in America is racially biased, BUT I'm tired of coastal elite attitudes. It was very hard living in a rural area near two military bases and being and not being into hunting or sports...it's hard being in NYC because everyone thinks I'm a criminal, black, white ans foreign but i can't project lol. I've worked for the city, trader Joe's and have am extensive custom service background and am a native English speaker... And was brought up with manners and am shocked and glad whenever someone treats me like a human lol.
I’m so sorry to hear that but agree that this country is racially biased. It’s very sad.
Nick Johnson, you should check out the pan handle of Nebraska. Scottsbluff, Chadron, and Crawford areas are some of the most scenic parts of the state. Toadstool park, Scottsbluff National Monument where Oregon trails is and Fort Robinson near Crawford.
It’s beautiful out there
Hardly any population over there
As someone that’s lived here most of my life, it’s okay.. and getting better but I’m ready for someplace new!
Left Omaha when I was 25 for the mountains and Big Trees and clear running streams. Never missed Omaha, they can have it
@@rickerhart907 can I ask where more specifically?
I lived in Lincoln for about a decade...i LOVED it! Think about it ALL the time ❤❤❤
As an Omaha native who has lived here my whole life: There are a lot of weird sweeping statements about the area that aren’t exactly accurate.
Crime continues to go down. The city backs the blue, pays officers more and the mayor is MAGA
Grew up in North omaha. Hated it. Got out and headed west. Glad I did
And a lot of things have changed in downtown Omaha since this video was made.
I can’t find the link, but Omaha has one of the best commute times for its size, something like ~20 minutes anywhere in the city.
Thank you for the good review! I was born and raised here, but moved away and came back every time. We are more than steak and corn… The people that say we are just a flyover state are a bit ignorant. Yes we have one of the best zoos and Warren Buffet is a very nice and approachable guy! I’m a born and bread Nebraskan who lived other places and this is the place that I will and be here forever!!!
One of my friends lives in Omaha and she loves it. She's always lived there and she says that the health care is good, people are friendly, but the property taxes are going up.
As a Nebraskain I love my state because there's barley any trash, we have great history, and did you know the 5th richest person in the world lives in Omaha, Nebraska
Omaha’s downtown is super cool! The park in the middle of the city is off the hook!!
What a great video Nick.I absolutely enjoyed your documentary about life in the Midwest, too bad Illinois couldn't have stayed as Midwestern &innocent as it was, while I was growing up. I love this young ladies viewpoint on how Omaha folks want to keep their surroundings the way they have been forever, that's a very fresh outlook on life in your hometown.Great job Nick,I can't believe it took me a year to find this video, but, glad that I did.
I lived in Omaha for 7 years It is great things about Omaha and great people. The only bad thing in Nebraska is the winter. Winter is bone-chilling and very long.
I lived over 10000 ft in colorado mountains for 15 years. Talk to me about cold🤣
Poor baby, this is not Minneapolis cold. You are wrong winters are not long
I'm originally from the Big O. I'm so pleased it's doing so well! I can't wait to move back!!
Hurry Louis!
My God!
How many red lights do you run? I mean on average, per video?
How many times have you been ticketed?
The people who live in South O, are mostly old, retired and military or other public servants. The city council have been talking about improving north O, but they said that for years.
"7:03 look how is divided is here."
I'm Mexican-American/Latino, but I think that's just a tradition balanced within the demography group. Even in California you don't see bunch of ethnic groups together in a celebration and party, but everyone is divided in their own space as well (Latino with Latino, white with Whites, Asians with other Asian, etc...). I saw it a lot in parks, festivals, and neighborhoods.
I am a Omahan. My friends came here from California. They were here for law school and loved it so much that they stayed.
She's a sweetie!
Besides the crappy weather, and lack of cool things like lakes, ocean, mountains, etc. , Omaha is a great city!
I do not care for any of those things, and I was born Ina city with mountains.
This Nebraska landscape is beautiful. I care about things that matter, if I need to visit mountains I'll travel.
might be moving here in a couple of months, thanks for making this vid. Makes me feel less anxious about migrating to the US.
Oh how nice, I live just 10 miles south of York!
@@fromrus2ne Geneva, Nebraska?
Ah yes. The truly most important thing when finding a home. Do they have a pro sports team?🤣
Nick, you blew every red light in town 22:22 . No tickets in Omaha? 😳
2023 is just down the line
not a huge fan of your politics but you do consistently put out great content. thanks for your hard work
Haha ok 👍 ❤️
lol leftie snowflake
Omaha has also been in the running for several professional sports teams recently. For example the NFL has tried a few times. But the only person who could afford a team there is buffet who has said no every time.
Loved this. Omaha is a wonderful place.
I saw their zoo and was very impressed. I’ve been to many big zoos throughout the country and this was compares well.
If I thought I could adjust to the snow, I'd move from So. Cal in a heartbeat. I've been here 67 years now, and getting tired of the place and what it's become. Omaha looks lovely. Thanks for the video.
Only 4 months of winter you have to worry about, though the entire year is nice weather
Our winters are shrinking.. it’s the hot summers and very warm falls you have to worry about more than ever.. only really cold for a couple months, that’s it.. 😊
@@douglascarlson1169 I hope to visit Omaha. I am very used to hot summers here, but low humidity.
@@richardalvarez2390 In CA all we have to worry about is the 4 mo. Of extreme heat in the summer. Think I'd prefer the cold to the heat though. Electric bills are very high here.
I've lived in several major cities around the country. We now reside in Omaha and absolutely love it! People are extremely friendly, very clean, affordable housing, low crime, a crap ton of employment opportunities, excellent schools, first class Healthcare, and lots to do! We are here to stay and completely happy!
