I have done Photography since 1979, some of th years as a professional. For "full frame" (24x36mm) sensor Cameras a 24mm are excellent when you want both foreground middle- and background in the image. I have used 28mm it is either too long or too short a focal length for my taste, I have also a 20mm Lens, but that is the same as the 28mm, too short or too long for my taste, so I can very highly recommend a 24mm Lens, if you sometimes need more to use a ultra wide angle Lens, I can recommend a 14mm Lens. For a all purpose Lens I can recommend a 35mm Lens. I do most nature and Landscape photography, my cameras now are Sony A7RIII (backup), Sony A7RIV and A7RIV, I always have mounted a wide angle Lens on one camera and a tele Lens on the other camera, My newest Lenses are Sony 14mm 1.8 GM, Sony 24mm 1.4 GM, Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm Aspherical, Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8, Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0, Sony 135mm 1.8 GM and Sony 200-600mm 5.6-6.3 G, I have also a lot of analog Lenses that I use, fx Canon FDn Lenses and Leica R Lenses, my most used analog Lens are the Leica 60mm 2.8 Macro Elmarit R. For many years I used Hasselblad 2000FC with 50mm 2.8 Zeiss Distagon,, 110mm 2.0 Zeiss Planar, 350mm 4.0 Zeiss Tele-Tessar and a Zeiss Mutar 2x, the 2x was excellent with the 110mm 2.0 for fx butterflies, I can recommend all these Lenses for nature and Landscape photography.
Hey Olle, thanks for the video! I'm looking to get either this or the 2.8 version. I've been reading that a few people have heavy chromatic aberration. The northern light clips of yours have some on the starts but nothing crazy (especially for the scenarios I'm going to use it). How's your experience with it? Thanks

I was considering the sony 24mm f2.8 mostly because it's a native lens and want reliable autofocus. What I am wandering is how big is the actual different between the f1.8 on the samyang and the f2.8 on the sony G. I should also mention that I would use this lens at night too. Have you ever used another 24mm lens other than the samyang ?
Thanks a ton man! I have tried the 24mm 1.4 GM for about an hour. So not that much. But the biggest defference I saw is the bokeh and build quality. The 1.8 vs 2.8 is not much in terms of bokeh in my opinion. But 1.8 is superb at night!

I just bought one second hand and either there is something wrong with it or it has very weird bokeh and has smudgy focus
If you press the button in Astro-mode, it will focus on infinity by itself.
