I remember people complaining about Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin Art back then and this is the game that instantly came to my mind. This game aged well and the 80/90s aesthetic fits pretty good. No shade to Ayami Kojima, which I do love her art in SoTN and other titles, but the complains about the art style back then were exaggerated. Just say you like an artist or SoTN and thats good lol

richter came out of left field for me. he's always been my favorite belmont since i played SOTN (simon mightve had better control of his whip, but richter is MUCH more athletic than his ancestor ever was.) never did i expect him to be in smash. i thought simon was going solo, as he was the most iconic, and richter only appeared in like, two games on a nintendo console, one of which was a bastard port of a classic, the other was a glorified cameo.... never did i think sakurai decide to bring in richter belmont (keep in mind, most of the roster is picked out before the initial announcement) and i was SO happy to see the guy again. second only to my reaction at seeing k. rool finally getting his due. but i KNEW k. rool was coming deep down. i didnt expect to see my favorite belmont again, the one thing that can make richter better is if he got an alt based around his artwork for sotn, (and likewise, simon getting an alt based on his chronicles appearence, his design now is far too generic.) the fact that simon and richter are getting the best of BOTH their movesets... this pleases me.

one thing to make this better is if simon and richter get alts based around their more modern designs by sotn artist ayane kojima for chronicles and sotn respectively. despite richter rocking a sinister-looking look in sotn, his sprite is still recycled from sotn. but if they dont, it's fine. chronicles simon is just the right amount of bishonen and masculine. the one downside to his getup is the boots. but i love the wilder look.
I still can't believe that most of this game happened because Dracula's army Kidnapped Richter's Girlfriend. Sure he's also A Belmont, but we all know that's only 5% of why he has to kill The Count.
