@11:10…not only does Purdy handle a kow snap, on a blitz, on 3rd down, but drops a dime to Bell in the endzone in stride. Baller….Ny man, your breakdown in this video of the Oline is killer. Love the wsy you illustrate how O-lines attsck a D-line, and just how fast these cats progress to the 2nd level and block LBs and CBs. Im a big Aron Banks fan. Dude is going to be a future Pro-Bowl caliber OG soon. Love the breakdown you did, and the double block downfield. Keep up the quality eork here man, haooy to subscribe.
Thumbs up for a great breakdown my man. Real time it is so tough to pick up the nuances of the pass pro and run blocking. Big Trent gives clinics out there and that Thibodaux pancake is a thing of beauty. 85% blitz rate is insane, they did a stand up job. How do you think they will fare vs Dallas?
I think you're right, look at 6:04 Brendel is talking to Burford and pointing to out to the right, assuming telling him he should have blocked down that way
Burford is plenty physical, but he seems to be slow in his recognition. There’s an element of surprise as if the DL is in a place he didn’t anticipate. McK is already challenged and if his guard isn’t sliding as planned he ends up on an island. The good news is that it’s coachable and will improve throughout the season
I’m a giants fan but I gotta say I’m sure the Niners were reminded about Kayvon tweet diss after last years nfc championship- They grounded & pounded the giants into the ground, also I don’t think any running back went down after first contact- they wanted it more for sure
there o line run blocking is good and there screen works good, there issue is in straight pass blocking, there pockets only lasting 1.3 seconds then purdy has pressure that 1.3 seconds is worst in the nfl right now. That is what we need fixed.
The problem with this OL isn’t the run blocking. The 49ers lost 4 QBs last year behind this OL. As good as their run blocking is, their pass blocking is equally putrid.
They're still in the top half of the league. There's a lot worse OL out there... which is why McGlinchey got $87.5m & Brunskill got $5.5m (this is almost what he made in his 1st 8 yrs btw ($5.7m)). Two of the backups were starters last year on other teams, Feliciano (Giants) Pryor (Colts). And Ilm Manning, a PS guy, made the Cardinals roster. The 49ers OL wins about 60% of the time in pass protection. There are OL's that are in the 40%s.
Giants blitzed on over 80% of their snaps which is an absolutely ridiculous rate for an NFL defense unless you're playing Madden. I think this game will really help the offensive line gel. Each year under Shanahan the O-line gets better and better throughout the season and ends up a top 10 unit by the end of the year. Look for the pass pro to improve drastically against the blitz moving forward
Am I trippin but were Brunskill and Mckivitz purposely trying to injure the giants D-line? Brunskill took a guy out with this certain technique and mckitivz later tried doing the exact same thing. I'm a niner fan by the way and if you don't know which plays I'm talking about, this question isn't for you
WE STILL HAVEN'T PLAYED ANY OF THE TOP TEAMS YET? STILL EARLY.. BETTER D-LINES TO COME? DALLAS, EAGLES, RAVENS, WASHINGTON.. EVEN THE BROWNS & VICKINGS HAVE DECENT D-LINES! BUT THE ONLY TEAMS THAT HAVE AN OFFENSE? ARE DALLAS, EAGLES, RAVENS, JAGS, BROWNS, & BENGALS! BUT DEFENSE SHOULD HANDLE MOST OF THEM!!!
Right side of the line is the weak point in protection. In run blocking there is no drop off when compared to left side. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Burford but he needs this season to determine if he is just nfl serviceable or borderline probowler.

Thanks for the breakdown, really enjoy your takes.

Thanks for breaking down The O-line play… it is so under appreciated sometimes

Second half they blitzhed 93% lol
@@hockey1freak that's ludicrous. Good test for thr oline and Brock though
Kudos to
Your review your spot on
I think you're right, look at 6:04 Brendel is talking to Burford and pointing to out to the right, assuming telling him he should have blocked down that way
Brendal does pretty well as a pass blocker to hes allowed one of the lowest pressure rates in the league since he took over last year
what about that Davidson takedown dirty play yes/no? then Buford bumps injured player as he is trying to get off the field? wtf?
this is so dope and insightful; Trent Williams...dude is so smart
A very underrated unit on the 49ers.
5:19 RG #74 makes the same mistake in the SuperBowl!
The left side of the niner o- line is powerful

Hopefully the coaches are working over time in getting the right side of the O line better. They are the weak spot in pass protection.
Except that ride side is horrible 😂
there o line run blocking is good and there screen works good, there issue is in straight pass blocking, there pockets only lasting 1.3 seconds then purdy has pressure that 1.3 seconds is worst in the nfl right now. That is what we need fixed.
wow it all starts at the line. pass or rush there was no resistance by most of giants o line

Now that bosa is back the right side should improve from practicing against the defense player of the year.

When Purdy first over teams were absolutely throwing the house at him, and man hasn't flinched once
85% is easier to type than "over 80" lol just an observation
The Steelers, Rams and Giants each have one of the better defensive fronts in the NFL
SO AS LONG AS OUR OFFENSE SCORES 30 PER GAME!
OUR DEFENSE CAN HOLD THEM UNDER 20 PER GAME!
Uhm... It's not. The right side is ok with running but terrible against the rush.
You should watch other OL's around the NFL. They can't even get everyone on the line to set the same depth.

Second breakdown misses out trent destroying his guy.... silverback in action
Purdy, is not perfect, not even mahomes is perfect, but time to stop worrying about how good he is. Lets just enjoy wins!
We beat the Giants WE BAD No one can stop us

Huh
This didn’t age well…
