    Hi Tris. Just a few words to say how much I enjoy watching your channel. However, I also enjoy watching when you are at your dadS layout. I am a cat lover lover as well as a railway enthusiast and I want to say how much I enjoy the footage involving Ruby and Oscar. I think they are gorgeous and their temperament when playing with trains along with your dad is great. Keep providing the footage involving them and your railway content as I think you are are doing a great Job. Stay safe.

    Excellent that you were able to go and see Dad. Did I see some push thumbwheel switches on one of his control consoles? Nice that you were able to come home with a few things for your layout as well.

      Forgot to say I agree with your view on Oxford Rail great value for £10 a wagon . Not as large a range of say Hornby , Bachmann & Dapol but they match them on detail.

    Hi Tris,how nice to see your Fathers layout,i loved the turntable,i prefer things that work like that and to me it sounded great! If you want to learn anything about Mainline wagons have a look at the Barrie Davis site,he is a top bloke.Bachmann have been a bit of a pain lately changing their couplings ! Oxford Rail make some beautiful wagons and often do a bundle of 3 for under £30 im happy with that.Stay safe and happy :) Oh and regarding the price of those little bags,when i was a child i was able to buy a small Airfix model kit for 19p :)

    Hi Tris, glad you’ve got to spend some time with your family. On the cheapo trees, I’m much in the same boat, I’ve bought a few from China direct and am mostly pretty pleased, to get some better colour I’ve very lightly dusted a mix of aerosols, red primer, ford signal green, ford laurel green and even a touch of satin black just to add some variety. One thing I’ve picked up in a few places (mags and vids of tree making) is that trunks are seldom brown, rather tend to be grey (although I’m literally looking out the window and the coniferous trees I can see do look quite brown!!)...
    On rolling stock, have a look at Hattons et al, Dapol is equally cheap as Oxford (which I agree are excellent and I think a bit more detailed than Dapol on the buffer beams), and they do some unpainted (but otherwise RTR) ones for even less that you can do to your own tastes. Also nice little projects as well are the ex-kitmaster / airfix now Dapol kits as these now come with metal wheels and tension link couplings, and are supplied on sprues. The only downside for you particularly is they are as far as I know post-nationalisation, but I won’t tell if you don’t. I’ve used two customised (as well as three standard) to represent an older real Austin Motor wagon, and a petrol tank fictitiously running with some favourite cider brands on lol!

    If I was your dad, and had all that ballasting to do, I would get a Ballast Spreader. They're fairly inexpensive, and provide nice and even ballasting fairly easily and quickly.

    Another enjoyable video, with a nice looks at your Father's layout. The boxes you had at the beginning look like a good buy to help protect rolling stock... is there enough clearance in the bottom/under the lid to allow a felt lining to go in to add that extra layer of protection? I'm thinking the sort of felt/baize that goes on snooker tables - quite fine, and not going to clog wheels with with stray bits of 'fuzziness'!

    • @OONeal
      @OONeal  4 года назад +2

    Hi Neal,
    I have only recently seen and subbed your channel and enjoy your content.
    Can you advise which method you use for track cleaning, i am looking a CMX/ Sharge and wondering which is the best as there are as you will be aware a multitude of methods out there.
    Cheers,
    Graham

    • @OONeal
      @OONeal  4 года назад

      Hello Graham, So I just use a Peco track rubber or some electric cleaning solvent on some cloth. I don't know the brands you ask about but there are a host of contact cleaners out there which will do the job.

    Hi Chris, I watch all your video's with great interest in particular the the one you did about your joining two boards together and how you line up the tracks with the special pieces at the ends, they look very good i feel they would work very well for me Are you in a position to manufacture these for sale to the public i would love some for my layout it could solve a lot of alignment problems for me. Let me know what you think Regards Alan
