- This evening I rented a towable Man Lift from a local rental yard to do some tree trimming around the house. We go over the operation of the unit in this video as I set it up and trim trees with my Stihl Pole Saw and Stihl GTA 26.

🤔 Melissa Morgan you could have turned the key to control it from the ground only
And leave him up their till you got your pool🤣🤣🤣🤣
That would make things worse for Melissa. That lady is dedicated to Motor Mike.
Dang i wish I would have thought of that 😂

Howdy Morgan family I have a favor it's my youngest son Christian birthday Saturday yup 4th of july baby but he's no baby anymore he'll be 28 great kid too Could you please give him a Shout out tomorrow or when you can ? I'd really appreciate it thanks .. Stay safe Mike and Melissa Morgan
Alright Huntman you stud. That hand in the cookie jar grin makes every day a great one.
I like to trim my branches back to where they fork. Don't like the look of a branch cut in the middle and leave a stub.
That's a good tip. That's also how to avoid 5 growing in its place. I'm an arborist and was trying to figure out how to leave suggestion and this comment was just right.
You shouldn't trim oak trees during the summer. Could cause oak wilt and kill the tree.
Morning Morgan's. No internet here today???? Going to go visit another youtuber today@ taryl fixes all. Tell the family hello. Hope to have internet this evening. Be safe and have a day!
If it was on your way home why didn't you pick it up with company truck. That like a perk of having one.
It is recommended to not prune oak trees in the active growing season because there is a high chance of introducing oak wilt through the open cut. It is recommended to do the trimming in the winter months when the trees are dormant. FYI.
I bet you don’t have any videos of you doing anything to a tree.
says the person who's never trimmed anything
@@chizzelfingers Oak trees are susceptible to a dangerous fungal disease called oak wilt. Even though oaks are strong and mighty, this fungus can take down even the most robust tree. It most commonly occurs whenever someone prunes a tree during the wrong time of year, also known as summertime.
Tiny sap beetles spread oak wilt from tree to tree, and they are the most active from April to August. These unwelcome visitors seek out oaks with fresh prune cuts, where they leave behind this fast-spreading fungus. Unfortunately, oak wilt is often fatal.
@@blackericdeniceWhy you leave this same comment everywhere???
Motor Mike you are not going to like what I say, but here in Wisconsin our foresters say to trim red oak in winter or early spring to prevent disease.
They also say you should drive with both hands on the wheel.
F165, what are you smoking! Haha!
Always rent one that drives have it delivered; it's a few extra bucks but worth it...Those tow behinds are terrible on the job...Too many set ups..
Very handy. Have rented one many times. When we rent one for a full day we try to rent it Saturday afternoon so we don’t have to have it back till Monday morning. Have a good day Morgan’s!👍🏻
Nice. Now you have some limbs away from your dish, you may get 25 more channels that have nothing on worth watching. 😆. Y'all have a nice day.
Rented one a couple of weeks ago to hang steel on my building, 23 ' up!My wife and I were in it together, she got pretty good at running it too! Best money I ever spent!
A local tree service company has a model you don't climb. It has a chain saw and grabber arm on top and you stay on the ground with a remote control in your hand. I'll call them and see how much they charge, then probably rent a unit like you just used. But, the tree company version has four wheel drive and a bit of a terrain crawling capability.
Hi you couldn’t have timed this video any better I will cutting our red oak limbs away from the roof valley and cleaning the pine needles off the roof. Thank you
MIKE, I wanna think 'Chipper Chick' was having withdrawals and put you up to the task. Good stuff, with the right equipment, jobs done safely, and even on a hot day, didn't break a sweat!
They make retractable shades for skylights. Kinda like the ones in a car or truck. We had one long time ago but the skylight was replaced with wood when the roof was replaced . Sorry Hunter i forgot about your birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Im glad your enjoying the filming Hope your having fun. Tell your Dad you want BK
Great video, if I could recommend one thing, please put a safety harness on just in case safety first.
thanks for that bit of caution osha.
it would be pretty hard to fall out of that basket unless you are really stupid in which case you should not be doing this in the first place.
this guy is perfectly safe and shows he is not some idiot that does not need to be doing this sort of thing.
Not really. Boom lifts are big catapults. They can flex and spring back
Paul K, Frank is correct…I use them every day and they are very dangerous. What do you think would happen if there was a accident and the insurance company came out the first question was asked were you wearing a harness? Good luck covering all your bills. Now we have to use a retractable with a harness not allowed to use a lanyard anymore.
Mike, you could make your life a bit easier and pick up a three ball hitch so ya don't have to swap out gotcha, just rotate.
I bought one (actually the exact unit Mike rented) of these since I paint houses for a living and I'm telling you it's a force multiplier! I haven't eliminated ladders totally, you never will, but it is easier on the body and much safer than a 40'er!
Good morning all, Phil from Kansas City here. No Stihl store today, heading to my tree farm in Stover, MO. Looking forward to Mike’s fireworks on Saturday. Have a Day.
Good morning from MidMo. Thanks for the demonstration. One of my engineers got one of those, and in the politically correct terminology required of the federal government, it was called a boom lift. Good thing too, because his newly hired technician is a woman. 😋 But they are out at our remote site, and I haven’t actually seen it operate. He has to work along an irrigation machine, so 10-15’ high, but also 20-30’ sideways. Anyway, now I’ve seen how to use these. Good info, and thanks. Funny thing in the video - the camera on the trailer couldn’t see Melissa, so the limbs appeared to be walking to the trailer by themselves. Especially in fast mode. Tell me you thought that up when you set up! 😄 I’m sure you thought it was great fun when you were editing. Looking forward to the fireworks tomorrow. Great seeing Hunter helping Melissa say thanks for the birthday comments.
I built an earth contact home in 1991 and I have 3 Velux Skylites on the back of my house about as tall as yours but wider and about 6 feet apart and that is likely where you are losing HVAC. Rafters too close together and little insulation in between. Those lites should have argon gas and yours look like Velux too. I design doors and windows along with custom millwork for a living. I have a bank of Andersen 400 series windows on the front of my house and it is always cold. It's not the windows, there is just not enough space between to insulate like they can today. If anyone else is experiencing the same thing it is probably the insulation. Get one of those thermal guns at your box store and point it at the glass then between the windows, I think you will be surprised. The products I mentioned are high quality. You would have to get in to a Peach Tree product to do much better and a house full of them would make your truck seem like pocket change! lol
So glad to hear Hunter loved the birthday wishes. 😊😊😊💝💝💞🇺🇸🎂🎂🍨🍨
Any body know the price on the manlift?
Hey Mike.....whats happens if your up in the air and the battery dies....can you still lower the boom
Thanks - that was very useful since I've been considering renting one of those tow behind lifts to trim several large pin oaks in my yard (mostly to clean out some of the dead branches). Probably use my tractor to move the lift around in the yard since it spreads the weight out and would handle driving in the yard better than my truck.
Yep just about everyone I know that put or have skylights in there house say the same thing. Problems. Nice job on showcasing the man lift!
There are two types of skylights : those that leak, and those that will leak.
I can say the same thing about dormers. Worst decision ever !
Shoulda called, I’d brought the climbing gear up! Lol just kiddin great video buddy
Good morning Guys that was a cool video thanks for sharing 👍
Good morning To the Morgan’s. Great idea fo that most needed but dangerous job of cleaning gutters. Worth ever cent to clean up all those other jobs. Thanks for the video and will looking into a device like this. Happy forth of July and May God Bless America.
Good morning from NW Ohio! Happy 4th. We all need to be appreciative of the freedoms that we enjoy, and many times, take for granted. Love the lift video. The last time I ran one, it went out of level when I was maxed out up in the crotch of a huge oak, and I had to hand pump it all the way down so I could re-level. Great times!
In our area, we don't cut oak until after frost - oak wilt.
Hey Hunter 🖖. 👸🏼🤴🏻👏👍🤠
It's not a man lift, it's either a person lift or a hi-reach 😊👍🇦🇺🦘
“I’ll give you a tip!” exclaims Mike. ROFLMAO Now you sound like me, one big dork!
BE CAREFUL ! LANYARD!
So, nothing about needing certification or whatnot? All the local rental places near me either rent to commercial/pro or require valid certifications for the proper machines (mewp, fall/height protection, etc) before they would let you rent, all which require both an online training class and in-person training, which costs money, and time as the classes are very specific to when they do the event. Also some of the training classes are like $800 per session.
However, Home Depot offers boom lifts and other rentals, and afaik, nothing is listing of a requirement to be certified to rent from them. Anyone have any info on this? I mean, I'm not dumb, training/knowledge is a given for these big machines. I, myself am certified on electric scissor lift and standup lift trucks.
Where do you live that you need all that?

Nice job with the manlift. Was the pizza good?
Hey Morgan's how do? Mike what is the weight limit on that man lift ? Height ? Hello Melissa,Hunter, & family.
Great video. Don't forget to tip pizza delivery girl. Stay safe.
What a great idea! I need to check with my local rental company and see what they have available. Ladders scare me since I broke my back. This looks like a far better solution. Another lesson from the Morgan’s 🙂
Home Depot's rent these, too.
Mike, don’t you have to pull the red knob out to give it power first ?
Perfect timing! Was planning on renting one of these to help take down a tree.
Well worth it. We used one to take care of several trees near our cabin.
Very much worth the $.
I never knew there was cordless man lifts I have only seen the noisy diesel kind. I put leaf filter on my gutters a year ago they are expensive but they do work no need to clean the gutters anymore. Well Hunter I am glad to see that you have had a great birthday and your welcome. Looking forward to the fireworks that your going to have here in Virginia the governor is worthless and won't allow them to may chances of infection but that is another conversation. I hope a safe and Happy Fourth of July to everybody. Thank you for sharing your video with us. Ed
Got one house side of those gutter protectors but heck they grow moss quickly !
mike where is your safety line
Renting the RIGHT piece of equipment helps SOOOOOO much! Saves a lot of time, is safer, you usually can do a better job and then you can move on to other things too. Hi Hunter! Happy belated birthday!
Perfect timing. I have to rent one in a few weeks to trim back some trees as well. I’ve only used a scissor lift in the past but not that kind. Thanks for the tutorial!
What you showed today is great. Sorry to say but I just don't have the room to store a lot of stuff so in the past I've even rented a tiller to go on the BX. It was not the one I would have bought but for a rental it did the job.
If I was doing that job here in Florida, the first thing I would put in as an essential tool would be a tested, full can of wasp and hornet spray!!
No good saying “ oh, yeah” when you are 25 feet in the air!
It looks like Hunter wants to go to Buger King. Anytime using a lift a fall harness should be used. I have seen people get hurt in them. The last thing I want to see or even hear is someone else getting hurt. Love the videos
Loved seeing Hunter! He looks so happy! Mike, you gave me a little tree stand anxiety there, lol. I'm good with heights, but I'm afraid I would have worn a harness. That wide angle makes it look higher than you actually were, lol. Good video, thanks for the manlift tutorial.
Good morning MIke and Melissa. Thanks for this one. I’ll be renting one shortly to clean gutters, clean windows, trim tees, finish up some painting. Happy Birthday Hunter!
Love love love skylights; the extra daylight outweighs any problems. Same with sunroof's.
If it was me I’d invest in gutter guard. I put them on my house and sheds and never looked back. The best money I ever spent!
What was the daily rental rate?
I have considered renting a lift but was a little intimidated. Maybe now I will give it a try.
Hunter , HAPPY BIRTHDAY, sorry I am a little late.
Roy From Bend, Oregon. I rented one of those when I trimmed one of my Ponderosa's.
Here in Bend, being a 'Tree City' we have to get a permit to cut down old, tall, or large diameter trees. Big fine if you do it without one. Mine was a 'leaner,' leaning more each year. To get a permit, I would have to apply, the city would have to come out and measure the lean, then do the same thing 6 months later. IF (a big if) the lean had increased then, and only then, would I be allowed to bring it down. But being a 'leaner', the city would require me to hire the work out. $3,000 plus permit $100, plus site visits 2 X $50.
There is NO requirements for any permit if you 'trim' the tree. It is now a tooth pick, with one branch near the top. Problem solved.
If the neighbors complain (NO HOA in this area), I just have to drill a whole in it, and it is a 'nesting' tree. This will make it a Federally Protected tree. Solution for any future problems.
Shows to go you when a local Government gets out of control!
Bet everyone in town wears a mask too!
Also in our area, for safety reasons, if it is towable by a 1/2 ton, they require a 3/4 ton. From what I understand, a lot of people have complained to the rental yards that 'they ruined their vehicle by towing with a vehicle the rental yard said was good to use.' Cuts down on the amount they make renting, but now almost no complaints, or threats to sue....
Have to say, you have one of the best playlists of all RUclips, let alone any music service. Thanks for all the great vids (and tunes)!
Thanks for the video. I may have use for a lift.
You beat me to the punch:). I’m going to rent one of these in September to stain my house. Curious if it has an AC outlet in the basket for running my sprayer?
It should have an outlet in the basket. Being it is electric you need to plug an extension cord to the power to the platform plug at the base. If you rent a gas or diesel boom that you can drive from the basket it will have a generator that runs off the motor and you would just need to flip the switch in the basket to turn it on.
Very informative, thanks may consider the man lift in future if needed. Not very complicated. Have a great day Hunter, LOVE your smile, it's infectious, and always makes me smile too!
Yea, I need one badly!
I have limbs I simply can’t reach with the pole saw that need to go, & being 20 feet up on an extension ladder, is not to comforting, knowing that one fall from that height would really ruin my day!
Love watching your videos. We are from Fort Recovery, Ohio. If you ever get a chance come to Fort Recovery, Ohio and see the old Fort still standing: from the 1800’s. There is also a small museum.
Rental places have all kinds of tools to make jobs safer and easier for homeowners. Thanks for showing us how these things work when you rent them. Unfortunately it has taken me too many years of working like a caveman to realize that there is usually a better way.
Great job Mike. These lifts are ridiculously expensive in my area. $400 per day for a 35'. I guess it beats the latter though.
Small price for your safety. Thanks Morgan’s.
Good afternoon. I laughed, as Hunter is saying, we've got to finish the job and get rid of the limbs.
Atta boy Hunter, supervisors job is never done. Belated Happy Birthday.
Hi girls. Be safe everybody.
Mike, you did clean the windows while you were up there right?
What size is that lift?
How easy it is to move this without a truck, i.e. by hand? I plan on having one dropped off and will need it in two locations. So I'll need to push it around , is this possible? Especially on grass?
I was surprised to see that the lift was battery operated; I was expecting to hear a small Honda engine start up. I believe that battery is better. It was a very nice demonstration. I loved today's music. You always have a good taste in music. Happy 4.
Mike that is the way to Go using the man lift it is much much Safer than on an extension ladder or on the Roof!!👍👊
I sure could use that, where did you rent it at? I am pretty sure you know my daughter's boyfriend.
I like your guys video you did a good jop babyboy is doing good
Ok Mo I need to ask because I’m kinda a lazy definitely no smart ? But why do a job twice ? How come you did not use the chipper and blow the clippings into the trailer ? Trying to pull the branches out of the trailer and chip the branches is a lot more work. Even dumping the branches and then trying to pull the branches apart is even harder ?
Far out ! Or should I say Way up ! Being safe is being smart.
Hey y’all one idea or suggestion... y’all have WONDERFUL music- can you maybe provide who the artist and what song is playing- I would love to download some of the music you have shared
Great video Mike!! I learned alot today. And TY
Today 2/20/2021 it $299. per day rental, $869. weekly (in Los Angeles), but if you have a project that is too high or too dangerous for a tall ladder, it's worth it.
I rented one u can drive around while it’s up in the air. The higher r the slower it goes(thank u for that) I was putting Christmas lights up for the Main Street in Sapulpa ok and yes they won first prize
A mini JLG. Nice
SOUTHERN INDIANA HERE: Should be careful and not trim too much off your tree. The tree helps a lot to help cool your house in the summer time. ALSO … save some of that pizza for me. I’m comin’ over. 😁
Mike here in Michigan we have Oak Wilt that's killing off oak trees in vast numbers. The fungus us easily introduced through wounds and pruning. It's a big deal here and we NEVER prune oak trees if it above freezing. Oak Wilt is in PA too west of the Susquehanna. I don't want to cause undue concern but you might want to throw on some prune seal... Just sayin.
Great video. The price seems very reasonable rate in my opinion.
Good stuff mike
Mike, if you get a chance, check out the B&W adjustable hitches. They come with 2 or 3 different size balls and stow out of the way. What color is the woman lift? Have a productive day.
I discovered how wonderful these towable lifts are a few months ago too. I pretty much never plan to use a ladder beyond the first floor outside the house ever again.
Surprised you don’t have gutter guards with all the trees around. If installed properly, you never have to clean the gutters again. Looking forward to the fireworks tomorrow Happy 4th.
would have come over and did it for you just to meet you guys. not the best cuts but better than standing on a ladder like most home owners. Dave owner Owner Arborsense Tree & Landscape LLC. leroy N.Y. you guy rock. love you videos. Have a Day.
Mike - thanks for the tutorial - where did you rent it from for the $138? Trying to beat a quote of >$500/day. Thanks
You need to invest in gutter guard on your Eve troughs to keep the leaves out . Makes life a lot easier, don't have get the ladder out to clean eve troughs an dump spouts .👍😁
These lifts are definitely a game changer.Several years ago I was talking to my neighbor about how I was really having second thoughts about having to get up on the extension ladder and changing a dusk to dawn light that I had put up thirty five years ago,, and without hesitation he said that he had just purchased a bucket truck, and that I was welcome to use it any time. Since then I have used it
many, many times from installing gutter covers, trimming tall trees, changing multiple dusk to dawn lights and repairing a damaged metal roof. I guess all of those years of supplying him wood for his smoker and outside fire ring and tending to all of their farm animals whenever they are away, paid many dividends.
Lifts are a truly a gift. I deal with a metal roof and not much solid lip surrounded by a lot of uneven ground so the extension ladders are a nightmare when it comes to doing high work. Actually had a gentleman doing an install on our roof and misjudged the stability of his ladder, if I hadn't caught it and body braced his ladder he would have been looking at a long 40' drop. Nothing beats a stabilized hoist.
Earl in Mi I would like to wish everyone with A birthday in July a happy birthday min is the 7th
A short pole pruner have expedited clipping off those thin wispys and repositioning. Fiskars makes a great 1 called Ez reach stik pruner at Home Depot. You can angle the head too.
Hi, can you please tell Hunter that we send God's blessings from Yorkshire...
💥 We are going to need one of those this year for hanging Christmas lights. My white pines keep getting taller. 🎄
*Keep on tractoring!*
Which model of battery blower do you have please Mike?
Awesome beats a ladder. Looking forward to the 4th
I will definitely have to rent one. I got quit a lot out by my pole barn that need trimmed up. Thank you for showing the controls.
Thank you for the how to vid..do you recommend using a safety harness and being tied off to the bucket? Or just slow and safe while up there? Thanks again sir and have a blessed day!
