I went from Solstice GXP to a 135I, and was very pleased with the stock exhaust. The solstice was an incredible engine, but very quiet with the stock exhaust on it. The 135 is very refined, and then when you get on it, it definitely comes alive. even with the stock exhaust.
Well said. hard to beat the N55 in terms of exhaust note, even stock. turns out this was the M Performance exhaust but even still, very nice from factory

I know right! I have yet to drive/hear an N54 open all the way up but I was pleasantly surprised by how good my car sounded stock! The DCT makes for some gorgeous downshifts and the burbles don’t suck either ;) Can’t wait to make it just the slightest bit louder with an exhaust!
Sounds really good. I did a berk mid pipe on my 08 135i and it sounded similar. I think it has to do with the n55 mid pipe not having a cat. Def louder
sounds like a nice set up! I’ve got a full exhaust on the car now and it’s definitely heaps louder now. need to get a video up on the channel for comparison 😛
@@apexpxl nice! I’ll check it out ! Btw. How’s the reliability of your 135i with the n55? Mine was a bit of a Money pit. Loved the car but new clutch, oil leaks, window regulators and other random stuff caused me to sell. Only had 50k on it when everything went to hell
don’t want to jinx myself but so far so good. just crossed 90k with the car and seems to be running great - i keep up on all the preventative and maintenance items but like any mechanical machine, the harder you stress it, the more likely it is to break. i drive mine like a grandpa most of the time 🤓
@@apexpxl that definitely is the M performance exhaust, and you got the m performance power kit tune too, base tuned 135i doesn't burble even in sport mode. I have a stock n55 135i, my stock exhaust muffler looks bigger than yours with smaller piping, and definitely not as aggressive tone as yours. You should put that back on paired with the berk mids I think that's the goated setup for n55 e82s. If not, you can get A LOT of money out of it since they're extinct.
in hindsight, I Believe the previous owner added slight burbles to the MHD tune. I find the amount to be tasteful tbh but this is all up to personal preference! that said, i’ve made some further changes to the exhaust set up with i plan to unveil soon! 🤓

Damn that sounds pretty good, my 08 N54 does not sound like that at all, youve got really nice burbles on downshifts.

The N55 135i muffler is almost straight through in comparison to the N54! The Y-Pipe inside the muffler is perforated on the N54, N55 is solid.
Ahh this might explain so of the variance in sound. Never understood why people like N55 better. Seems like N54 has more of that classic BMW note 🤔

Are you sure that's not the bmw performance exhaust? I have the same car, but in white and my tips are slanted?
I believe the overall exhaust is the same but the previous owner swapped the tips. Going to be changing some things soon though 😈
