My mum used to work in a post office at the counter. It was in the days of individual queues for individual positions and she said that the people coming in for their pension money always tried to go to the same person everytime even if that queue was the longest. They also used to bring her gifts at Christmas. Nowadays there is a cattle pen queue system that snakes round and when a position becomes available you go to it.
Yes, now you wait for those announcements - 'Cashier Number 1 please..' !!

The funniest thing I took out of this is when Nick said you have to go to the Post Office to get your Passport renewed😮. What about doing it online?? Even when I was living in another country I just had a mate at work take my photo, attached it and all other relevant details, waited around 4 - 5 days and there it was in the post! Delivered to my home! Easy as bro! 😅

I think the post office staff are a unique breed, the are mostly unaffected to everything going on behind the screen
At most of our local shops there is only one person serving, so it's bite your tongue when granny is buying one of everything, ( not forgetting that those cute elders are happy to tell you all of their medical problems whilst they have you captive 😟)

Actually in England the people who work in the post office seem quite cheerful or relaxed or both.That’s always been my experience.
I can’t deal with that cheeriness first thing in the morning if I need to go and pick up a parcel or get something sorted out.
Maybe they are better paid here or other benefits.
My postman seems generally cheerful and I can always hear him whistling when he is walking around with his deliveries.
Nope, cheerful people too early in the morning are a big much for me.

G'day Guys! The Post Office here in Australia also does passports but from the sound of it ours PO's are better organized as I have rarely had to wait more than 5 - 10 minutes... Cheers!

Unfortunately, not much has changed in lots of Post Offices...you just have to gauge which days/hours are not going to be busy 😢😢
The queque system turns us all into mindless zombies, such a waste of my valuable time. I could instead be watching you tube videos lol.

they have drive thru all sorts over there.
In the UK, workers are in a better mood because they have rights.
whilst im sure thats true about workers rights, the Americans kick our ass at customer service. Most british people would lose their customer facing jobs within a week in America. Having said that i probably prefer our disinterested customer service compared to the over the top enthusiasm Ive always received in the States.
