      @NickyNicest Месяц назад

      Honestly the only thing making some Roland’s superior still is the digital ride hi hat and snare on the TD-27kv2+. Once efnote and other companies introduce similar they’ll have some serious competition. But for the more affordable sets I agree that efnote is an excellent option.

    One important thing about this drum module is that you can record WAV files in 8 separated tracks with USB connectivity! So you can multitrack with 8 channels only using a simple USB cable, without an expensive multitrack interface and without expensive mics! That feature save us lots of money and allow drummer to make creative productions in a DAW without using expensive plugins such as GGD, SD or others!
    Beside this, nice video dude!! :)

    Bought the EFNOTE 5 and I couldn't be happier! I'm glad I waited all these long years for this company to exist because I could never get on board with anything Roland made.

      Can I ask why not the atv adrums?

    • @thexennialdrums
      @thexennialdrums 2 года назад +5

      @@JesusLordOfLords455 EFNOTE 5 has perfect size shells for what I need. I need a more compact arrangement for the space I drum in (I live in a small apartment so space is at a premium). The ATV drums look very nice as well and I considered them too.

    • @cloudofthought
      @cloudofthought 2 года назад +1

      Do they sound a lot better than in this demo? Cause these sound awful.

    • @thexennialdrums
      @thexennialdrums 2 года назад +6

      @@cloudofthought In my opinion, the EFNOTE has great sounds for the price point, much better than any other drum module sounds that I've tried at this price point (I've tried Roland as well as Alesis Strike, and I found I liked the Strike's sounds better than Roland too). I actually like the sounds so much in the module (didn't expect to) that I plan on using a lot of them at live gigs. I definitely have high standards for sound quality too. I've been gigging exclusively with EZdrummer 2 sounds and EZX packs and I didn't expect the EFNOTE sounds to even come close, but they are very high quality when it comes to built-in sounds. The cymbals in particular are indistinguishable from EZdrummer cymbals. The built-in hi-hats sound better and trigger more nuanced sounds better than when triggering EZdrummer hi-hats. The sound demos are flat which makes them sound less good than they really can sound. What I've found is adding ambience to the kit mix makes a big difference. I've upped the ambience to 100% and am mostly using Stage 2 to get some good reverb in the sound output. I also like how much punchier the kicks, toms and snares sound than the EZdrummer equivalents. You can really only add reverb to the kit mix through the standard "room" type ambience settings, but it is definitely adequate for standard drum sounds. I like that simplicity too, doesn't give you so many options to get overwhelmed with and you can spend more time drumming and less time futzing with settings.

    Just wanted to let you know that your videos are great, and very informative. I was able to buy my first ever e-kit very recently because of all the information that I gained from your multiple videos.
    Your editing is also very, very good. The way you compile your information, the graphics, and the comparisons are spot on, and I didn't have to Google anything even once while comparing drum kits to each other.
    Keep doing what you're doing. Cheers :)

    I really love the look of all of the efnote kits. Their design language is on point in my opinion. Very sharp looking kits, both the more traditional style kits and the more acoustic designed models.
    I considered buying the efnote 3 briefly but got a pretty good deal on a new TD-17KVX2 and decided to go with that for several reasons. One of which being that there’s so much you can do with the TD-17 module and it seems like there’s a much larger user base, meaning useful tips and tricks are always available and there is massive assortment of sound packs, settings and guides readily available for TD-17 owners.
    It’s nice to use something that is so prolific because it’s always easy to find the information, resources and add-on’s you’re looking for and there’s always a group of people out there that is willing to help you figure out any issues you might have or offer useful advice.
    I must say though, I’d like to see Roland take a few design cues from efnote because man those kits look great.

Unfortunately I'm still torn about which one to get (eventually). I want a really good hi-hat with stand, prefer larger mesh heads, and want them to be quiet (basically no acoustic drum sounds). I plan to play more with drumming software like Steve Slate. I'll be playing for pleasure and home recording. I think the 3X fits the bill but I'm also interested in the Roland TD-27KV. Those kits are on different tiers, and I think the VAD506 beats the 5X. The Roland can do a lot more things on the module side. Way more editing features, more outputs ect. The drums are all larger. And the price is higher too. Maybe a better match up would be between he EFNOTE 7 and VAD506

      Edit: what I mean is that if you have 100 dollars more then the EFNOTE 3 is worth considering
      Edit: if you want a lot of things built in then just by the DTX6K3X

    Are the heads tennis rackets? I've my eye on the alesis strike primarily because of the less bouncy heads.
    Any word on the strike SE?

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  2 года назад

      They aren't the bounciest heads I've ever used, but they are still 2ply mesh heads at the end of the day. I like them overall. As for the Strike SE, I played it when it came out, and did an in-depth video on it in the beginning of 2020. Good drum set overall for the price. I recommend it for home/studio use. Maybe not for live touring situations though

      @@65Drums I meant the Strike regular SE you mentioned might be coming in 2022 not the pro.
      I had a mid range Roland (I think it was a TD-11) and it was kind of fun but coming from being an acoustic player of 20+ yrs it just felt like a toy between the sizes and the over responsiveness of the heads.
      Was trying to use it as a practice kit and then switching over to an acoustic for performance though.

    what's the deal with leaving out the second rack tom? It's hard to do fast fills going from one rack tom to a floor tom, which is why mot metal drummers have two rack toms. It just makes sense. Two floor toms but no rack tom? Really? I think a lot of people are going to pass on their kits because of that.
