Hi, Steve. Great review. I'd been looking forward to this one, as I like the styling of it, and for the price, it seems to be a pretty good value. I'm awaiting a piece that I'm pretty excited to get. It's by a chinese brand called Geya, and the model number is the AP-03. It's a "Royal Oak" homage, w/ a Hangzhou 7500, skeleton movement. From the very limited info I could find on it, the model seems to get pretty good marks, in terms of build quality, and finishing. Much better than others in its field, like the models produced by Feice (which does carry the same movement in their skeleton variation, btw). The movement, in-case you aren't already aware, is a 4hz, w/ a 72hr power reserve, and pretty nicely done (considering the price-point) beveling, and ornate finishing. Especially on the rotor. From most everything I've found on it, it seems to be a pretty solid design. At the price of $170 USD (before taxes) off of Amazon, I'm hoping this is the piece that I've been searching for. I'll let you know how it turns out, if you're interested. Keep up the great work, Steve, and have a very prosperous 2023. Cheers....
Up until a few years ago, Chinese watches all had weak to terrible lume. Cronos, Hroudland, San Martin and a few other premium affordable brands, started using actual Swiss, SuperLuminova on their watches. The SteelDive, AddiesDive offered SL C3 and BGW9 on watches costing under $100, right about the same time Pagani Design was moving into the $100+ price ranges. Unfortunately, Pagani just won't use decent lume on even their most expensive models. That, combined with their tendency to produce oversized versions of homage watches, explains why I don't own any Pagani Design timepieces.
I've been told they are working to get someone that applies superluminova (apparently they have to be trained on the matter 🤷). We will see though. Hoping they start adding it soon.
Another excellent video review and honest assessment. Pagani Design just use a solid caseback, putting an undecorated SII NH35 on display makes no sense.
Lol, my kids love seeing the movement...however ugly it may be. I see little to no negatives in the display caseback so I'm kind of "meh" on the matter. 🤷
Most beautiful and classie homage watch. Awaiting my blue edition too arrive, Already got my PD-1651 with black dial. Great beautiful watches from Pagani.
I don't get what this is trying to be. Is it a PRX? Surely not with those proportions... It can't be a Genta with the SSDD bezel... It's not bad, it's just... Not remarkable, like, at all. I guess the bracelet angles do some good on the shine contrast, but still... hard pass
Yeah, definitely a genta inspired design...they are marketing and going for the PRX, but I agree, the proportions are off, not that it looks bad, but the PRX is thinner, with a larger dial and smaller bezel.
Would you be able to do a comparison between this watch in the video and the Specht & Sohne? They have a PRX "homage" as well; it supposedly is a 37mm.
I don't have this watch any more, but I do have the S&S 37mm PRX. Review to come soon. I feel like the finishing is better on this one, same for the dial. The S&S isn't bad, though. The dial is pretty striking but can also look a bit cheap IRL (automatic green waffle dial). It's for sure smaller though, so if size is a concern I CAN and do recommend the S&S. It's hard to argue for $52 which is what I paid for mine.

Yes, 100%. The proxima is a much nicer and more comfortable watch to wear. The Pagani isn't bad, but that proxima is just on another level (as it should be for 3x the money)
I generally shun homage watches, especially ones that just straight copy other watches, but I think I might get this one. The PRX is a watch I've never been able to figure out if I like or hate, so a cheaper alternative to test it out on my wrist would be helpful. Thanks for a good review!
Haha, I feel the same way about a lot of watches...for that reason I really enjoy most HOMAGES, even if I don't really enjoy them in the end of that makes any sense.

They have problems, most cheaper watches do, and there is the argument about the morality of just buying a copy...but if buying one of these makes me want and buy a PRX then I'd say Tissot owes Pagani Design a thank you lol Plus I got the same idea as you of how the chamfers on the bracelet should be polished...so I'll get one and practice my polishing skills to see how that looks haha.
You called it a "Sapphire crystal" with only 7 lights showing on the tester. HAHA I think it's only a hardlex level crystal instead. A homage watch is okay but lying on the material...nah.
No. There's a sensitivity wheel. I can make sapphire give me 3 lights if I wanted. Turn it on, sensei ity up until the first light is on, then hit the crystal. Mineral/hardlex will MAYBE go up one light, sapphire will go up to 7-10 depending. I typically tone it down under 10 so I don't get the annoying beeps on camera. It's sapphire, trust me.

There are hoards of watch companies homaging/ clomaging well known designs, Chinese, Japanese, German, British and Swiss, their all at it. It strikes me just because Pagani has design in their name they get hate. Go look in the high street Jewellers windows or online. No one is making you buy one of these.
Pagani didnt even take the chance to actually deliver on a mid sized PRX, they basically duplicated the dimensions of the 40mm PRX but made them worse.... its not actually 38 as they said, thats 40

Yeah, the bezel was just the off-putting design element to it. They kept saying it's a PRX homage, but the bezel is too thicc.

Yes, 100%. The proxima is a much nicer and more comfortable watch to wear. The Pagani isn't bad, but that proxima is just on another level (as it should be for 3x the money)
