I agree, it's not rocket science, but it's about the show it makes. Any fool can beat a pattern on a piano, but when he does it, it's magical :D. It's all about the show.

I thought he was going to play piano and do something percussive. So I was disappointed that he was standing because then I thought, "Ohh, this is lame he's just using it as a drum". Then he hit the strings with his hands and I thought, "OHH! He is going to play something by hitting the strings." Then he never hit the strings again and started singing. Also I doubt that stage appreciates him slamming the cover of the piano.
