    I found this episode really interesting. It's hard to find good info on topical ginseng. Maybe you could do another episode focussing on othet popular plant extracts like mugwort?
    Also, Kuma is really cute and polite, how dare you not pet him more, Gloria!

      we definitely have more extracts/plant stuff coming!
      haha don't let Kuma deceive you - the politeness is just a facade. Though he definitely got plenty of pets and cuddles post recording 🫡

    Maybe I'm wrong but I always felt like commercial grade ginseng products only have some placebo effect. I mean... Once I was in a famous old fashioned chinese pharmacy in Hangzhou and there were a dozens of very expensive wild ginseng roots there, some of them in glass boxes hanging on the walls . I can imagine that those pieces may have some almost magical, spiritual effects, and throughout decades in the wild forests rich soil, they were able to soak all the good stuffs.... But very few of those come in cosmetics and definitely not in the affordable price range.

      oh for sure - ginseng sourcing is a fascinating, complex subject. On the flip side, placebo effects in skincare is actually in itself an interesting topic. in clinical tests, placebos can have some effect even on difficult skin concerns such as sebum production if they believe they're getting the active version

    Thank you for covering this ingredient. I am so torn sometimes with it. I think it is the smell, sensational, or ritual like feel I get from using something that has been used for a long time so I am always hoping it does what it claims lol. Have you or are you thinking of doing a segment on rice?

      nothing wrong with using an ingredient that makes you feel good!
      Great minds think alike - we actually already recorded an episode on rice :)

    Just fill the lack of clinical data with more cat segments. Who needs data when there's a fluffy animal to look at??

    I was kinda hoping you would talk about the beauty of joseon's 10% panax ginseng and 0.02% retinal eye cream. but I understand that its combined with a vitamin a derivative which complicates things xD

    • @ChemistConfessions
      @ChemistConfessions  8 месяцев назад +2

      definitely complicates things... but we'll put that on the list! maybe we'll do a more product-focused episode instead of ingredient-focused soon
