Abeka is how I learned to read in second grade in 1968. My second grade teacher was amazing. Abeka phonics works. I’m retiring as a third grade teacher in May after 28 years! Great job mom. BTW I live 45 minutes away from Pensacola. Small world.
I appreciate you sharing this, I admire your groundedness, logic, and the way of life you are living. You help motivate and inspire me. Thanks again for sharing!
Can you imagine how much your baby enjoys being in your wrap during the day?!! This is solid advice, so valuable for those raising a family. My children are grown but I still love watching your simplicity and faith based life. I have grandkids and as a retired Montessori teacher I appreciate and love your content.
Andrea early to rise is so true, my children use to ask me if I ever slept, last to bed, first one up. Family dinners at the table and weekly family Bible study was a must in my home. Of coarse all my babies are up and grown. Thanks for sharing I think these family values are important.
I used the Abeka curriculum when I homeschooled my daughter. Excellent!! We used the taped lessons with the Pensacola Christian School teachers for the high school subjects. They were very good. She then took the GED to have a "actual" diploma and got a honor's certificate . My daughter went to a local college and majored in Business with accounting. She came out with high honors. I believe she still has much better English grammar skills then I or our three sons do. We all went to public schools.
Excellent video! I just have to thank you. I‘m a second year homeschooler and it’s been overwhelming with the amount of items that come in curriculum packages. I still feel like I’m constantly trying to figure out a “system”. I was trying to keep the workbooks intact but they take up a lot of space. I saw your homeschool tour video and tried out your folder system last week and I think I love it! Lol! I thought I’d be sad that I was not keeping the pages together but having each day ready to go in a folder is AWESOME! It also doesn’t feel like I’m throwing a giant workbook in front of my 3 and 5 year old and I think THEY appreciate that. Thank you for sharing your tips!
This video was so inspiring to me! I’m newly married and I so desire to have children and raise them up to know the Lord. Homemaking and homeschooling are two things I am so excited for. Thanks for sharing your tips 🤍
These are wonderful tips for everyone whether you are a busy Mom or busy in general. If you don’t have children at home interject yourself or you and your spouse/partner, into each tip and you are set for success. 🙏 loved this
Andrea, your children have been blessed with a great Mom. Spending time with them is so important. In a blink of an eye they are adults and giving them the support and encouragement every day when growing up is so important. I was impressed with your younger child doing the vacuuming. I have been on the lookout for a battery operated vacuum and was surprised at how light the one your son was using seemed to be. Could you please send me info on it. Thank you for you videos. They brighten my day and look forward to your next one.
This is so good! You make such good sense. I didn’t home school my four boys, but the stress of getting everyone out the door to their different schools with lunches, book bags and homework signed was daunting at times. I also worked full time and had to be prepared for the evening hours to cook , throw laundry in and get myself ready for the next day. Now they are all in their 50’s and I find myself missing that chaos. Bless you and all five of the men in your house! ❤️❤️❤️
Andrea, clearly your doing the right thing and are willing to make adjustments where needed. I am so very impressed with you and your commitment to God, your marriage and your family. Same thing goes to Mike! You two make a wonderful couple and parents for your boys. Your actions and dedication are instilling these same values to your boys. Someday, when they are much older, they will look for a girl just like Mom! With her same beauty, kindness, love and patience. I know cause mine are grown and I have grandkids. Parents today are giving their responsibility to total strangers in exchange for better things, materialism, etc. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of Mother's have to work, but there are alot that if they managed their money better, they wouldn't have to. I think you know what mean. Anyway, you are so precious and your love and devotion shows in everything you do. Sending you a big hug from Texas !😊🇨🇱
Wow, talk about preparation for becoming a homeschool mom by having a job as a CSR at Abeka. Your faithfulness to God in college (hack #1) is a testimony to that job at Abeka (my opinion). You are ministering to women and moms of all ages.
I so wish I had a baby wrap when my boys were baby. Jealous of you. I would have home schooled my boys if that was available at that time. I do not agree with the public school curriculum. I am so supportive of your choice! I was so lucky to have an employer who agreed to let me work from 9 to 2. ( ok, my employer agreed after I quite. This was early 80s). This allowed me to drop them off at school before I went to work and pick them off after work.
Great video and great tips. Thank you for sharing. Another tip is have your kids help with the food preparation/cooking projects. Lots of math, reading, etc. 👍 prayers and blessings to all🙏🙏❤😇
Great video. I’m a homeschool mom to 8. I just had a baby 7 weeks ago. I definitely second the baby wrap. I love your channel so much. Thanks for sharing.
Your tips are excellent! Allowing your children to be responsible for simple chores is such a wonderful way to teach your children that they should take pride in their home. Would you mind sharing your kefir smoothie recipe? Thanks so much!
These helpful tips make so much sense. Your boys will remember these special times with you as they grow up! You’re laying that foundation for them each day. ❤️
I have 0 children couldn't have children back in the day but I do love you're video's you are very inspirational and are faithful to the Lord I love that so am I I have cats lol and I am inspired by you're video's I love the beautiful house you have a beautiful family girlie thank you.
A bit late to the party, but I just love this video!! 😍😍 Thank you Andrea for all the great tips!! ❤️❤️ Just out of curiosity, why do you make/use kefir instead of yoghurt? Is there any special reason you prefer one over the other? 😊
Andrea I love Abeka, and am so glad that you are encouraging homeschool mom's to keep it simple. I sometimes get swept away by all these beautiful complex curriculums I see by other moms on RUclips, and then end up feeling overwhelmed by all the extras I'll have to keep up with. Definitely not necessary, as long as they learn and are where they should be at their grade level, they will be totally fine! I do have a random question, can you please share where you buy your blinds like the ones in your dining room at @9:50 and your piano room. I have such a hard time figuring out what website to use to purchase blinds, and I don't see them in store anywhere. I also get overwhelmed by color and design styles, since there's lots of options. Or it'd be a nice idea to do a segment on just neutral window treatments! They do make a big impact on a home. Thank you 😊
Thank you! I love simple! Also, here is a link to the blinds in my living room, I share the color in the blog post as well! www.pineandprospecthome.com/woven-roller-shades-window-covering/ here is a link to the blinds in my sunroom! I hope this helps! www.pineandprospecthome.com/sunroom-window-bench-reveal/
You most certainly are super woman, Andrea. During that time when you send your husband to the park with the kids, so that you can clean, I'd suggest that you go with them and have a cleaning lady come in. You make an income from RUclips and so you deserve this little extra assistance, which is not that costly and will make life so much easier.
I bought the video package for Abeka, but honestly I feel like it takes up SO much time and is extremely slow paced. My 6 year old is way passed the material. Do you find that your missing out by not having the video lead classes, or I mean putting them at a disadvantage? Also do you use accredited? My husband said that they’ll eventually need to take their ged after graduating to make their degree count. Not sure if that’s true. I’m also in MI. Thanks for your input and advice! Always great to hear from you :)
Hello! I honestly do not feel that I am missing out at this age, and also at my boy's age I do not use accredited. Once I get closer to the middle school years I will research that a lot more and what our state requirements are.
Loved this video so much! I’m a full time working mama outside of the home but possibly within the next couple of months I’ll be leaving my full time job to be a stay at home mama. My kids are little as well (ages 5, 4, 2 and expecting our 4th baby at the end of the year). I’m really nervous about it and feel as if I’ll fail at being a stay at home mom and how my kids will adjust to me being home all day. Thanks for all of your tips especially in this season of motherhood I’m in. Love all of your videos. Quick question: how do you get your kids to help out and do chores around the home? Mine refuse 😭. Help!
I have always had them helping me, but I would say try to encourage them and be patient, habits take a bit to form but eventually they will understand and hopefully help without asking!
The truth is, we don't get it all done. And even if I could, I wouldn't. We're human, with weaknesses and flaws. Also, people tend to think RUclipsrs have perfect lives but they don't realize that they only see what you choose to show. They don't see the tantrums, the washer breakdown, and other trials that life throws at you.
I got my master’s degree from PCC while teaching 5th grade in NC. Then I went home and opened a cottage school where I helped parents school their children. Love hearing that you are a grad also. Love PCC! Blessings!
Love this type of video Andrea, I totally agree with waking up early. The days where I do wake up late, I find myself a little frustrated because I do enjoy that time to myself getting ready. We also have that devotional time and prayer time before we start homeschool, it really sets our day and makes us more connected. Love the idea of the different folders for every day, so neat will have to try that with my kindergartener. My daughter is in the ninth grade so she is very organized and disciplined. Thanks again! Blessings!!🥰💕
I can so attest to so much of this in my own life!! I feel like we are kindred spirits! Thank you for the wonderful encouragement, fellow mama.❤

They really are, thank you so much for sharing as well!
I sure wish I could go back with my kids, and do things differently. It’s so important to focus on Jesus more than the world. Such an inspiration.
Andrea, thank you so much for sharing your life and family!! You bring such peace listing to your calming voice and your such an inspiration!!
Thank you Rachel, that is so sweet!
You are a very special lady, mother, wife & friend! What an inspiration to us all! You have a truly blessed family.

Thank you, I love it so much, I will try to do that soon for you guys!
Great tips! Watching you put on that wrap was impressive! 😊
Thank you! It seems overwhelming, but once you get the hang of it, it is SO helpful!
