Hey PizzaFlix ya did it again. A classic western from the 1930s. Harry Carey. Now that's a name that gets my mozzarella melting and my pepperoni sizzling. Keep up the awesome work, baby. I'm really bacon for more entertainment!
This movie far outshines anything the movie makers of today have done. 🌟 today's movies the only powerful motives or feelings are self centered & sex, greed, & lies. So shallow. Even the "family" movies are infected with it. It's refreshing to see somthing more realistic to the human condition.
John Wayne claimed his mentor was Harry Carey Sr, and that Carey had taught the Duke how to act like a cowboy. When Carey Sr died, Duke asked Carey's widow onto the stage where THE SEARCHERS was being filmed. In one scene, the cameras are rolling as Duke exits the cabin doorway and into the bright sunlight. Duke has his back to the camera and clearly moves one of his hands across his front to clutch his elbow on his other arm...which was something Harry Carey often did. Carey's widow realized this was a "salute" to her late husband, and she was moved to emotion. John Wayne helped get his mentors' son Harry Carey Jr's career going and made sure he was able to feature in many John Wayne picture as a regular in the "John Ford/ John Wayne road crew". I recommend the great book "DUKE,WE ARE GLAD WE KNEW YOU", which gives much detail into the relationship between Harry Carey and John Wayne thru the years.
@49jubilee To be technical....Duke was born Marion ROBERT Morrison..His middle name was changed soon afterward and his brother was named Robert. Duke had also met Tom Mix while working as a stage hand and felt Mix was a phony and dishonest, in that Mix had promised to help Duke's career...and never made the attempt.
Thanks for the story. It’s so interesting to know how the actors related to each other. Harry Carey was an excellent actor that transitioned from silent to talkies. He was a true western films front runner pioneer.

10:40 She was Cristina Montt, the original voice of the hag in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Spanish
Gabby is so young in this. That Irish accent had me fooled.
Playing the overture from Light Calvary to start a Western? Cool!
George Hayes before he was Gabby Hayes.
Gabby Hayes barely recognisable as the sheriff with the Irish accent.
Lousy ending. They used to do that too often.
