I'm a lurker/occasional commenter. You couldn't be more right about the comments section! We have 2m subs and a channel dedicated to my dog doing funny things yet we still get hate comments occasionally. How bored do people have to be to hate on funny pet videos. Thankfully the nice comments greatly outweigh the bad.
i love that the progress bar at 1:11 is synced with the actual time. It's little things like that that signify quality. Edit: I love how much this comment has blown up just from people debating over whether I'm a bot or not. It's hilarious.

The amount of improvement in your videos over the years is so amazing, especially the shift of more more commentary-style topics while still having that storytime feel. A good way to deal with selective abstraction is to point out positive things happening OUT LOUD and give them the credit they deserve. It might feel redundant, and stupid, but eventually the habit will turn from everything focused on the few negative issues that don't matter (that you're probably the only person thinking about), into the positive aspects that everyone else sees already. Also, distancing yourself from negativity helps. A bonus tip; go out of your way to do positive things. You'll feel much better after, and that feeling will stick with you even if you consistently do nice things.

James, over the past 5 years, a lot has changed. I've grown up and gone from one of those non existent 13 year olds to a full fledged 18 year old adult, but through everything, thank you for always telling me to wear my seatbelt, and for making me smile and laugh.

You can really tell he cares about his audience and if you've been here since his older videos you know he always has. I usually never comment on videos, mainly because of the fear it would bring. As someone who struggles with basing my validation on likes and dislikes, commenting can be terrifying. I usually am the person who lurks around or doesn't even bother to go to the comments. I love how James has put it into perspective from both the viewer and the commenter. I may not be the best commenter or noticeable fan, but I still support the creators I love without commenting.
It's mind boggling to think that James used to be the only one to work on his videos, and now he has a whole team helping out. It really shows with the video detail and quality. Here's to hoping that more animators with talent get the support they need to keep pursuing their dreams and giving the masses truly creative content.
I remember when I first started watching RUclips I left a comment after EVERY video, I after some time I just got lazy af to do that :3) Now I watch the video and question my life choices 👍✨

James, over the past 5 years, a lot has changed. I've grown up and gone from one of those non existent 13 year olds to a full fledged 18 year old adult, but through everything, thank you for always telling me to wear my seatbelt, and for making me smile and laugh.

I usually never comment on videos, mainly because of the fear it would bring. As someone who struggles with basing my validation on likes and dislikes, commenting can be terrifying. I usually am the person who lurks around or doesn't even bother to go to the comments. I love how James has put it into perspective from both the viewer and the commenter. I may not be the best commenter or noticeable fan, but I still support the creators I love without commenting.

It's mind boggling to think that James used to be the only one to work on his videos, and now he has a whole team helping out. It really shows with the video detail and quality. Here's to hoping that more animators with talent get the support they need to keep pursuing their dreams and giving the masses truly creative content.

My advice for selective abstraction: You dont care. I dont care, and it really helped me. If you do something akward in public and you get wierd looks, just think about the fact that at some point, people just dont care what you do
