- Just how good can a 💲20 knife be? Today we take a look to see if you can attain modern performance at such a low price point.
Zero, zip, zilch. While it retains substance, the Gerber Zilch carries exceptionally well thanks to a sub-2.5 ounce weight while delivering plenty of cutting edge to handle your daily tasks. It will be free from your mind until you are ready to use it, and the Zilch delivers plenty of style with large diamond texturing on the GFN scales and interlocking teeth on the spine.

99% of People complaining about blade steel most definitely don’t need anything harder than 7cr. I always ask those who complain about blade steel to tell me what their edc cutting consists of. Almost no response. Great review
👍Thanks for watching.
facts
Specific, they aren’t complaining about steel, they complain about value you paid for what you get. At that price point Gerber asked, we could find better knife or same quality knife for even cheaper. Over all, their complaining are valid due to the msrp is bit high.
I know what you mean. On the daily, I cut tape, strings, cord, thread and that's about it. I'm not batoning wood, striking a Ferro rod, or making little fire-starter swizzle sticks, or whatever those things are.
In the mainstream media no one ever talked about those types of tasks until about two decades ago, and then all of a sudden everybody's a woodsman or a doomsday prepper. smh lmao jk
@@BrothuhRabbit it’s more like they lazy to sharp the knife. Better steel tend to hold the edge way longer than cheaper one. But the main point is value. For same money you can get civivi mini praxis with better steel tho it’s still not the best option in price range. And people still complain about civivi so you know the standard been up in the air for a while. Even cheap chinese brand on aliexpress tend to have the same steel quality as gebber for half of the price. But seem like they all for get that their kitchen knife that they massacred before every meal, a scissor they use to cut plastic paper etc….are also cheap steel. Sure it got dull over time but for entry price range, you can’t expect it last forever. So just changing it to newer model and you should be good
I’ve just pick this knife up but, in black. I find it a fantastic knife, it’s light and very pleasing to the eye. I love it….
i have been using it for my forestry job ( forwarder operator ) for a week now and it is a good little light knife to keep in my pocket and i have not had any chips on the blade yet and there is still no wiggle from the blade would recommend to most folk
Glad to hear it's holding up well for you! Thanks for sharing!
Love this little knife it makes a great paring knife in the kitchen too 👍
Great review stright to the point with no faffing about, cheers, might get myself one....
Thanks for watching!
Great little EDC at a budget price winner
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I came across the Smith & Wesson 3” Framelock Folding Knife CKLPB, which I just ordered online (around $10, in Holland)...
Could this S&W be even better while it's half the price...?
Besides the steel, it looks like a nicely put together knife.
Thanks for watching!
Mine does not flip open. I have to pull with my thumb all the way through
I love mine just something extra to carry but I wish it was a tiny bit heavier like maby an ounce
What would be the best oil/ lubricant to use on this particular knife to keep the "flipping" action nice and smooth when opening and closing? Thanks for the great video. 😎👍
I’d recommend tri flow
I’ve had mine for months, i call it my grub knife, I’m very hard use on my knives and the Zilch has never failed me. Just get one and you’ll understand. I carry mine most of the time as a secondary to my main nicer blades and it gets all the mucky work, hence the nickname “grub knife”.
Nice. Thanks for watching.
It's $25 now
Would rather have a serrated Byrd or that Dozier
🤷♂ Both good options. Thanks for watching!
no knife needs to be more then a twenty dollar tool period
🤷♂ Different tools for different tasks. Thanks for watching!
Everyone has their thing. Could say the same about anything but there’s cheap, affordable and premium with everything in life.
7cr
Zilch is an apt name
The name is in reference to the slim, lightweight design. Geometry makes more difference than steel in performance. Thanks for watching.
Zero !
🤷♂
Another reasonably good Gerber design ruined by poor steel. There is no excuse for using 7Cr on modern knives unless you're in the market for a classic gas station knife.
🤷♂ Keeps cost low for the economically minded.
@@Gpknives I know - just a shame that they can't lift it a notch to AUS8 or 8Cr.
@@realbroggo i wonder if they will make fancier options for this one?
@@chrishoesing5455 I hope so. There are a number of Gerbers that I've looked at but they just fall short in materials. Stay safe.
