I did a crash course in soft furnishings a few years back (2005/6 I think) and the way I was taught to conceal a zip was far more faffy than this. I haven't done any sewing since 2018 when I made a roman for my eldest's nursery, so I'm itching to get the sewing machine out lately but with 3 children under 3 I get very little time to do anything for myself. My girls need Christmas toy sacks and I do have some suitable fat quarters, so I might get the time for those. 🤞 So glad I found your channel, thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge. X
I learnt so many things from this tutorial, I'm going to watch it again but this time I'll take notes. I especially remember liking you giving hints whilst you were cutting out. I thought that people normally skip over those bits and miss opportunities to give ideas. Thanks for taking the time for that. it was relaxing and exciting to learn new things I didn't even know I needed to learn.
My pillow inserts arrive tomorrow. I used darker bronze batiks on the bottom and a cream/tan on top. These are for my guest bedroom. Cant wait to insert the foams. Tfs
Debbie, I really enjoyed this video, you made it look so easy and explain what your doing and why every step of the way. I've always shed away from zip cushions, but you have given me the encouragement to have a go. Thank you so much . Susan
Hi Debbie! Oh my gosh, I just came across your videos and I want to thank you so much! It's been so fun watching them. I started learning how to sew during Covid lockdown in the US in April 2020. The first thing my best friend and I sewed together (via FaceTime) was a conference bag. It was so confusing and the instructions weren't the best. I wish I had known then about your videos. I've learned wonderful techniques from watching you. Needless to say, my bags are much better now! I was looking for ideas I could use for beautiful Christmas gifts and this pillow is wonderful! Thank you and I hope you include other videos for this Christmas.
Hi Debbie, great tutorial, learnt loads, from piping to zip covers,, backing fabric I could go on.. Thank you so much and Merry Christmas from Ireland 🌺
Hi Debbie your cushions tutorials are easy to follow and amazing when it is finished and would you make a A4 or A3 led light Pad zip carry case and thank you
I very much enjoy listening to you and watching you. Your style is calming so even tasks that are daunting or overwhelming, you simplify them so it's easier to overcome hesitation to get the projects started and finished. Your videos help me learn new things and relax when I am taking a break from frustrating projects and unpleasant annoyances life throws at me. I bought one of your books and when working on the projects I really miss hearing your voice and instructions that would make everything easy to do. I often ask the book, "Where's the DVD so Debbie Shore can make my day?" but the book always answers with silence. But I am still smiling each time I look through the book. And dreaming of one day having a DVD for some of the projects.
What a lovely festive cushion with lots of hints and tips along the way. Thank you Debbie you really are the best :) Love the birdie lampshade in the background, is that handmade to? When I think of handmade lampshades I am always taken back to 'The Lovers' in the 70s when Beryls Mum made lampshades. Aah the good old days :)
Pretty cushion & love the design, especially addition of the piping. Just wondering why you didn't economise on the way you used the extra long zip? Also, was bit difficult to hear you talking over sound of sewing machine when you were free motion quilting. But otherwise I enjoyed your video, no fuss, or unnecessary 'chatter'! Thank you.
I have a stash of long zips that I can cut down to size, instead of shorter zips that may not be long enough, also I can cut the metal stoppers off the ends so I don't sew over them.
Love watching all your sewing ..

Love the cushion. Could you use some light batting on the back? Would free motion still sew through?
Thats a great idea!
Hi 👋🏻 Debbie from East Yorkshire 😊

Thanks! The lampshade is a kit from my website, www.debbieshoresewing.com
So cute!! Thank you
Lovely work as normal Debbie! Did you use a special embroidery thread for the free motion embroidery at all? Many thanks
I use polyester as it tends to be stronger than cotton...
Thanks Debbie love the cushion and your top where did you get your top from? 🥰
That's a dress from Phase Eight, glad you like it!

Thinking out loud, can a cording foot be used to apply the piping?
Not a cording foot, but you could use a piping foot...
Lovely 😊
Super project
💙♥️♥️♥️
I meant sharing as in uploading but nevermind. 🤦
Behind you a lamp has been covered how did you do that?
It’s a lit on my website, www.debbieshoresrwing.com
