Hell yeah, finally someone doing a review of this speakers!
Don't forget to put the floor spikes on them....
Now those are kick ass sounding speakers!! Excellent!
Terry; keep rocking the dance moves.. Fantastic channel.
That beautiful dancing man returns!
Lovely. They remind me of K.I.T.T from Knight Rider.
I have the new Kef R11 and sixth generation McIntosh mc275. And let me tell you the combination is heavenly. Very deep smooth bass ,and the highs have no distortion at all. I then compared the speakers with a solid-state amplifier Harmon Kardon signature 2.0. I can honestly say that it is a different experience,Very sharp at the top end. After listening to the speaker with the solid-state amp, I found it to be somewhat fatiguing. So I switched back to the tube amplifier and then I was convinced, tube is the way to go with the Kef R11.
How big of a room do u have the r11s in
How would these compare to the B&W 600 and 700 series?
What is the other Chord product you mentioned at the end? I guess MScaler. What do I win? :)
I cannot wait to upgrade my Q700's to the R7's. I recently replaced my Q600C with the R2C and that alone puts the Q700's to utter shame.
Did you do the upgrade?
Hi! Terry, are you using a single McIntosh 275 power amplifier? If so, does it drive the R7's well?
Thank you
Hi Martin, yes just a single MC275 - and you will see ;)
I have the R11and McIntosh mc275.and these wonderful speakers produce some of the most smoothest sounds I’ve ever heard. It isination
@@gladyssimo1 it's a very smooth combo that's for sure. I have some ideas and tips coming for the next level in resolution while keeping the smoothness ;)
loving the look of these speakers!👍 i have a musical fidelity 6i amp and arcam cd37, what model would go with these components in your opinion?
I have the R3’s and even though they are smaller, they still require a bit of power: my 25 WPC First Watt amp doesn’t get them going very well. If I remember correctly the Musical Fidelity is 200 WPC, so I think you have it well covered in the power department for any KEF.
hi many thanks for reply, currently running b&w cdm 7nt
and prior to that the se versions so i am after a different presentation after 20 years!🤪
And yes 200 wpc and what a superb amp 😁
@@8000audiolab I would recommend that you give the new R series a listen. My thing is imaging, and the KEF’s throw a sound stage that is pretty deep. The B&W’s generally seem to keep the sound more tightly focused at the speakers. I have not heard the cdm series, so that statement may or may-not apply to them. B&W’s have an outstanding reputation, so beating them is a tall order, but the KEF’s may just be the one.
You are my favorite reviewer, bar none.
Thanks man appreciate it :)
great review 🧘♂️ Kef R7 will it work with a rotel ra 1592 or a naim unit atom ? thx for help
yeah I think you will be ok with them, like all these things better amps can offer more but depending on lots of factors
How would you recommend these over the older r series ?
I've tried to find a comprehensive comparison between the 2 series, but I couldn't find much. But as Far as I understand, It's not worth spending the money in an upgrade.
Terry, It will be interesting to hear how you get on using the TT2 as a pre into the valve power amplifier. I use my Dave direct into solid state power amps and that is just sublime but I personally have never got the best out of Chord DACs going direct into valve power amps and I get much better bass, mids and top end by having the Chord DAC set to a highish output level (Qutest 3v or Dave +3dB) and then using either an active Pre or better still a Music First transformer passive pre amp into the valve power amp. The McIntosh maybe the first to prove me wrong but I have had loads of other valve power amps. Nick
Hi Nick
This is the first valve amp I have spent any time with and I think the R7 are a fairly easy load to drive. No complaint from the combo here - but more on that in the videos soon.
Thanks for sending me the Stream cables - they are Ace as expected!!
Hi Terry, My point is not so much about the valve amp and speaker combination but more a consideration of the way the DAC pre and valve power amp work together. See how you get on. Oh, and glad you are already enjoying the WAVE STREAM Premium Dual BNC cables!
Is kef reference 3 worth the money? Its 4 times more expensive than r7
Would it not have been better to use a McIntosh Pre-Amp with their Power Amp?
with more time yes, but then I wouldn't so easily isolate the effects of the valve amp or valve pre - I pretty much know what I am getting using a Chord DAC as a pre as well.
Also this is a far simpler and cheaper system people might want to use
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Appreciated.
It's just that a McIntosh Pre/Power combination would have provided a benchmark against which substitution of the Chord as a Pre-Amp could be gauged.
you will test-KEF R7 meta ,,
What's the name of that song? The very first one
Ultra Naté - Automatic (Riffs N Rays Mix) - Ultra Nate off this album geni.us/hofqp
Would the Nova300 power these adequately?
on paper the Nova 300 has loads of power 300w @8ohms so yes it should do no problem
Pursuit Perfect System I’d like to demo a pair. Can’t find any online retailers. Recommendations?
@@Jacksonpt99 do you live in the UK? Nintronics in Hertfordshire have the whole range for demo among a lot of o the speakers to compare
Bro, where can I purchase the tellurium wires in the USA? Thanks for your videos 👍🏽
I will find out for you please bear with me
Pursuit Perfect System Thanks, much appreciated.
Pitchperfectaudio.com is the distributor I used here in the US. If you send me your email, I will give you the name/number of my contact here that I purchased my TQ BD cables.
Hi Ian
Here are the details you need telluriumq.com/united-states/ Best of luck let me know if you need anything else Thanks
@@PursuitPerfectSystem It's pitchperfectaudio.com here in the US which was the distributor I used here in the States to buy my Tellurium Q Ultra Black Speaker cables and Black Diamond IC. They took about 1.5 months to get in though. TQ is swamped with orders. But and their is a but...I like the BD IC so much I ordered the Silver Diamond IC for my newly purchased PS Audio Direct Stream Dac.
Reviewing black speakers in black room.
Good job.
Yes made it very hard but made them disappear easier
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Well, if you are trying to make them disappear then it does make sense. I have white tower speakers in very brightly lit great-room, standing in front of white sheer window drapes, so they blend/camo really well. Would love to see a review of the KEF R11s in white.
@@thetrumanshow4791if you see my usual speakers they are kef reference and they are black too which is ideal for a home cinema room which my main room is. White speakers are easier to get on video but sometimes you have to take what you can get if that makes sense
Yeah that sounded nothing at all like a sales pitch...
I don't sell anything, I am independent reviewer?
Sorry bro ... tedious and sloppy.
thanks for the constructive criticism I think it's a little harsh but I take it on board
