T̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶o̶r̶i̶g̶i̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶a̶ ̶3̶0̶ ̶m̶i̶n̶u̶t̶e̶ ̶f̶r̶e̶e̶s̶t̶y̶l̶e̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶c̶u̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶1̶5̶ ̶m̶i̶n̶u̶t̶e̶s̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶to not give too much content away but also abides by the youtube 15 minute rule (old rule) and to mainly be understanding of Austyn Steelman (who we are fortunate enough anyways for her even letting me upload this as this video is from the documentary she made called "hip hop below zero") as she has been kind enough to release video of it for free even though she took her own time to record this and make it available.
This documentary has a lot more content which has more aspects of Rhymesayers including more eyedea with abilities and many stories from there collective, also it includes the full 30 minute freestyle from Eyedea/Felipe. I if remember correctly they just freestyle for fun or practice and this time recording was allowed/welcomed.

I was actually at Fifth Element while this was being shot. I was picking up my To The Break of Dawn pack for donating to the local radio station from the RSE Pledge Drive. There was such an energy in the room, as there always was when Eyedea performed. Really glad this footage exists.
Also, I can vouch that 'Hip-Hop Below Zero' is an outstanding documentary. Absolutely worth your money, I reviewed it for LA Weekly a few months back.
Sad they closed that store, they always treated their people right. I went there day after soundset before leaving town an everyone I was with spent like $100 there. Dude at the register asked why I wasn't getting anything. Told him I blew my money at soundset. So he sent me home with several free albums and some left over promotional merch from the festival.

Like Abilities I'd try to spit flows when drunk at parties....and you find out soon who is regurgitating the same basic garbage the instant they lose their flow. To me not every freestyle of Eyes sounds spectacular. But to me it is spectacular that he doesn't seem to use any memorized rhymes. instead he ambitiously attempts to explain himself and other complex things without reservation. Pretty dang special that kid.
Yes, that's why he's special. He was never scared to fail so even his failures were successes.

R.I.P. EYEDEA. This guy was amazing. Was never a big fan of his albums but amazing freestyle artist. Check the wake up show with slug. One of the best genuine freestyle videos on RUclips, over 8 mins of the most entertaining freestyles you will ever watch. I'm gonna miss him.

I always say to my friends that if he were born in another day & age he'd be revered as an immensely innovative artist, poet, and philosopher.
instead, he was born this day & age in America; so he's underrated, underappreciated, and overdosed.
for real, back in high school my boy weasel turned me onto some good underground type hip hop, Deltron 3030, Atmosphere, Heiroglyphics and I discovered E&A playing THPS4 and hearing big shots. hopped onto lime wire and looked for everything off first born but back then u couldn't really find whole albums online and the subject matter and beats are so genius and tripped out of some of the songs that I couldn't fully appreciate it. also couldn't get my friends to listen to E&A everyone was stuck on G Unit, Eminem and Lil Wayne so over the years I kind of lost track of E&A, would pop in the E&A album from time to time but went different directions. very thankful for RUclips to hear and watch all this Eyedea footage I would've never otherwise known existed. After relistening to First Born in its entirety I'd say Eyedea is the GOAT, no joke... Tupac, Nas, Tech N9ne, Eminem, Del the Funky Homosapien, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica, UGK, Too Short, SPMex DJ Screw and the whole SUC are all dope in their own way but idk man... I think Eyedea has them all beat. I would compare him lyrically to a Bob Dylan.
