Kerosene is up to $11 a gallon as of January, 2024. And that’s Walmart price. 5 gallon container of k1 kerosene has gone from $30 to $55. I keep a couple hundred gallons on hand… stocking up in the summer. I stock a large quantity because I also have a few Coleman kerosene pressure lanterns and a some Fueurhand lanterns.

I would not use it directly on the carpet. You might be able to put something between the carpet and kerosene heater that is not flammable but do it at your own risk.

It's not so good for power outage emergencies that last 2 days or more if you must check the wick every thirty minutes. You won't be able to leave it on throughout the night, thanks for the info.
