a tap re-post. been concentratng so much on finding and posting new stuff, i haven't been re-posting too many clips from the previous channel. this is one of my faves.
I Remember all of these great movie intros. Fabulous orchestrations and outstanding graphics, Sadly This craft is history. But thank God I was there to be a part of it all long ago !
Reminds me of all those Friday and Saturday night movies the networks used to show. Vikings quarterback Joe Kapp in this movie is a real blast from the past.
The Saturday night movie with the 1972 theater arcade movie flashing light bulbs was the best opening for saturday night at the movies! Especially the n b c peacock in living color prior to the announcement!
LOVE that this has finally been posted. What memories - the red zipper! Did NBC ever do this opening with "Broadway" style lighted letters flying across the screen. I seem to recall that as a child.
And with NBC Burbank announcer Don Stanley handling the introduction (and the ad bumpers) for this TV-movie which originally aired on Dec. 23, 1972. The "NBC Monday Night at the Movies" graphics had the colors reversed: the angled moving titles in cyan, the title by itself in red.
@fromthesidelines this was the late Fess Parker's last film. also had the late Barry Nelson as a New York City cop as well as Stella Stevens and Joe Kapp who was a football player
Yeah, much like the CBS Friday and ABC Sunday night movie intros, this one has been locked in my brain for all these years and forgotten about! Thanks for the post!
While I recall watching Saturday Night At The Movies fairly often, the only title I can 100% recall seeing was "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming" and that was probably around 1970.
The missing NBC intro and theme song has finally been posted. The ones for ABC and CBS have been posted for a long time, but this seems to be the first post for NBC intro. Outstanding find!!!
You know, I'd almost forgotten this version of the title! There were at least FIVE variations between 1961 and 1978..."Climb An Angry Mountain" was a darned good TV movie, too.
"A Time for Love" (March 3, 1973) and "The Magician" (March 17, 1973) - the latter of which led to the short-lived TV series of the same name that October -- were produced by Paramount Television.

I remember this intro. It came on after Emergency!
Wow!! Haven't seen this for decades. Amazing to hear the theme music so long forgotten.

My best estimate would be that this title graphic was used from the fall of 1972 until the end of 1975. AFAIK, the theme music was by Ray Ellis.
I miss those days too 1972 was a great year
1972 was a great year, & if I could relive one year,1972 would be the year.
How many of you know that Barry Nelson - and not Sean Connery - was the first actor to play James Bond?
After the commercial break, "And now, Climb An Angry Mountain."

Before September 1972 they did.
This intro music brings back a lot of good memories,,great theme music,,not enough thought put into these days
What happened to the sound in this clip? Several years ago it was heard, now it is gone, and I have the volume up at full blast!
Introduced by Don Stanley.
A very nice man. While working at NBC Operations for a few years I attended his retirement party.

good call,,this intro could go with any movie.
I like the original opening from the mid 1960's to 1972. Which it features the marquee lights.
DID THE WRECKING CREW PARTICIPATE???...EARL PALMER DID A LOT OF TV...MAYBE HE DID THE SMOOTH DRUMMING...

Connect with the KNBC links. You'll find everything there.
What happened to the sound in this video? It previously had one.
I remembered this theme
Proud as a peacock 🦚

The NBC Super Season promo from 1975 has these similar graphics.
"A Time for Love" (March 3, 1973) and "The Magician" (March 17, 1973) - the latter of which led to the short-lived TV series of the same name that October -- were produced by Paramount Television.
Wish I could find the theme music without the announcer!

Hey Tap, what else preceded this on the tape? I think this was on U-Matic.
@MrUltragor2004 this is all. was at the end of a tape. lucky to even find this.
Does anyone remember the CBS Movie introduction from the mid to late 1960s? It had similar elements.
That's been posted in several places on RUclips. Search CBS Thursday night Movies
My cousin Arnold Koblentz is playing oboe in this.
these days, the intros are push button B.S.,,.This is the best by far intro theme.
nice theme song
SO WERE IS THE MOVE== I WAS THERE WHEN IT WAS MADE - IN MT SHASTA AND MC CLOUD,CA == I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT =- WERE IS IT ==
Did Harry Mancini do this score?
I think it might've been Ray Ellis.
The old theme was better.
The old intro was better, with the old style theatre front and the flashing colored lights.
geez what happened to his face?????
Joe Kapp resembles Javier Bardem.
Stayed home ate popcorn on the rug in front of the box my sister said it's on its on those were the days/B0BSTIR
