The fact is that Guentzel is the better 5v5 player than Stammer. Moser and McD have improved the D. VASY is the key to all of this because this team ism BETTER than last year.

The teams 5 on 5 offense was one of the worst it’s been in ages. Not to mention the lack of forward defensive responsibility. Also an angry big cat will suck to play against.

People forget that the lightning won the 2020 cup without stamkos.
Everyone remember his one shift but they essentially won without him. I love stamkos and hate the way he was treated but they’re a wildcard to me.
Could be fantastic or trash idk

The power play is gonna look a lot different without Stamkos there… either there gonna be hard to scout for the first half of the year. Guentzel is a left shot so it’s not like they’re throwing him in stamkos’ old spot

    • @shoeboiXxX

I think they would put point or adtikinson in stammers spot and have guentzel play in the slot

For a second there, right at the intro, I thought Adam was about to go "misses the first couple of months. Kinda sucks for them. Not very demure, not very mindful of them." Based on his tone and how he said it made my brain go "IS HE GONNA DO IT!?"

I think losing Sergachev is gonna hurt them more than they realize. McDonaugh is too old to be a reliable replacement imo. They're a playoff lock, but I'm not convinced they can contend with the Rangers or Panthers

    • @wesc08

Not saying you're wrong about Serge, however... they didn't aquire McDonaugh to replace Serge, their plan/hopes are more likely that Conor Geekie will take that spot.

Sergachev is a good defenseman but he does not play great in his own zone. Not bad, but he isn’t going to be mistaken for a defensive defenseman. His transition defense also leaves much to be desired. That’s why they got rid of him. They wanted better deal defense because they can score plenty of goals, that was not the problem, they need to play better defensively. People forget the lightning won the cup with hard forechecking and shutdown ability. They hoped Sergy could provide that with Ryan McDonaugh gone but he didn’t. Not to mention McDonaugh was a big voice in the locker room during those runs

    • @tylersantana5312

I’m not saying they won’t miss him, but I think they saw something they wanted more and also I’d take McDonaugh and Moser over one Sergachev

"Reports of the lightning'a death have been greatly exaggerated" is the story of this team since the cup runs. Glad to see steve give Moser some love and I totally agree vasi is primed to be a huge bounce back candidate. Im high on what mcdonagh will bring to the team and agree with other commentors that lilleberg was a huge addition last year. Couple that with a potential conor geekie to spark our bottom 6 with a scoring threat they've been missing since the cup runs and I think this team is the best it's looked in a few years. I think they are a forward short for a playoff roster but i'm so stoaked to see the new look bolts!

My "hot-take" is that Guentzel will score a lot more points than Stamkos, hence so will Point & Kucherov. Will that be enough to beat the Rangers and/or Panthers in the playoffs remains to be seen....

I think the biggest question mark for Tampa this year is can they still have one of the best powerplays in league without Stamkos? That powerplay won them a lot of games, but it was only as lethal as it was because Stamkos and Kuch both have deadly one timers so you couldn't cover both reliably. Adding Guenztel doesn't really fix this because him and Kuch are both left shots so they're either going to have to have to change their entire powerplay structure or make up for these goals at 5 on 5.

    • @hckykd39

You do realize the PP was good because of Kucherov and not Stamkos?

    • @MDToboggan
      @MDToboggan 3 месяца назад

@@martingiguere1202 Yes I know that Kuch is the quarterback of the powerplay, but Stamkos had the 2nd most important position on the powerplay being the trigger man. Now the only 2 reliable one timer options for them is Kuch himself and Point in the slot. If Guenztel is taking Stamko's spot on the powerplay they no longer have a strong viable onetime option on that side which makes it way easier to shadow Kuch/Point when you don't have to worry about Stamkos as a shooting threat and he was a big reason Kuch was an effective QB on the powerplay

Like all team in the Atlantic...the Lightning are good, but is really unstable. The reason for them ? They are one injurie away in defense, offense or net to crumble like a house of cards ! Too many years in a row in playoff, i'm not sure they have enough gas in the tank...It might be this year or next year, but the drop will happened ! I put them at 4 at best, Kucherov, Point and Hedman can't do everything again !!

Love you guys, so dont take this the wrong way. Way too high on the lightning, imo. The forward depth is HORRIFIC. Connor Sheary (who I thought retired or something) and ancient Cam Atkinson might actually wing the 2nd line because there is absolutely nobody else to take those spots. They are a top line injury away from having one of the thinnest lineups in the entire league at forward..
Stamkos is gone which will hurt, and yes Vasy is great and missed time last season, but let's not act like Johansson wasn't playing really well in his absence. He was really good, it's not like they were losing a bunch of games because they didn't have Vasy.
Lastly the whole division will definitely be better. Buffalo and Ottawa especially. The rest of the league got better and Tampa Bay didn't at all. I got the under and they will be a wild card team

Jonas Johansson .890 3.37 GAA -9GSAx. Why are you lying lmaoo. Why are you pretending that moser+mcdonagh isn’t better than sergachev who played 30 games and when he was playing was horrible. Buffalo got better by adding zucker and latterly?😅
