Schmeling is really great, very underrated! Quick, technical, creative and with good power. The best of the 30's after Louis. And Sharkey is not bad at all too, tough, not slow for his build, has good stance and his jab reminds me of Sonny Liston a little. Threatening uppercut also.

In my opinion, Schmeling is leaner and in better shape. He continues to press the fight. Someone has told Sharkey to push with his left jab. The result is poor. Sharkey looks softer of the two men. Schmeling seems faster and the more deserving fighter--not Jack Sharkey. Fight decided by $$$, not athletics.
The referee was Ed "Gunboat" Smith, a major heavyweight contender prior to WW1. Both he and Sharkey served in the US Navy, though at different times. General opinion at the time was while it was a close fight, Schmeling did enough to retain the title.

Scoring on the 10-point must system, I scored the fight 135-131 for Schmeling (because of the missing round, so you can do the math).
But once again on the bias commentating. Round 7 or 8 he stated that Max was "well ahead," and that it was "hard to give a round to Sharkey." After round 7 I had Sharkey leading 58-56. It was a fairly bad decision, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it the worst decision I've ever seen, or even one of the worst. I had rounds 2,3,8-13, and 15 going to Schmeling, and rounds 1,4,6,7,and 14 going to Sharkey, and round 5 was missing from the footage. I had rounds 1,3,4,7,8,12,and 14 marked as "close", so if the right rounds swum the other way, I could have Sharkey pulling out a close decision win.

I had Maidana sodidly winning 5 rounds, Mayweather easily took 4. The other 3 i don't have any1 winning in particular but idk how they gave them to Floyd. Floyd would connect on Maidanas gloves which makes a noise, and commentators would go ape shit. Better to watch a fight in mute IMO since you can't hear the fighters most time you just hear commentators who don't know shit and the bias crowd.

Madison Square Garden Bowl was bad luck for defending champions. Schmeling would've had to knockout Sharkey to get a draw.
